A player that I think could be an exciting player for Newcastle is current Sochaux forward Ideye Brown.
Ideye Brown -Impressive first season in France
Ideye Brown is a versatile 22 year old forward on the fringe of the Nigerian national side. He has speed to burn and scored a very impressive 15 goals for Sochaux in his first season with them. He fits the profile of an exciting young prospect and could be a bargain buy for Newcastle.
Brown “who sports his first name Ideye on his shirt” does have three years left on his contract which would drive his price up a bit but he is not a player who would cost a fortune. He does strike me as a player who could thrive in the Premier League.
He is a major part of an exciting young Sochaux side who finished fifth this past season and have some intriguing players such as Marvin Martin, Modibo Maiga, and Ryad Boudebouz. What do you think of this player?

Comment #6No idea if we’ll go for this player or not, but I think that the general principle of us signing players that none of us have heard of – and the press haven’t even mentioned yet – will prove to be the case. I’d never really heard of the likes of Tiote, Ben Arfa etc until we signed them.
So in short, you never know…

Comment #20Ideye looks promising. He is good in the air for a player that isn’t really tall. Has good pace and has a stinging shot off both sides.
His first 6 months in Ligue 1 weren’t so great but he improved and was very good last season. If we were to sign him, I would suspect the same again, He’d take some time to get up to speed, but he could be an excellent signing if he keeps improving.

Is this player a powerful forward or a small fast one? If he’s the former I’d take him. We need a good big man.

Comment #25think if we sign anyone from Sochaux it’s more likely to be Cedric Bakambu! reserve team striker with pace to burn! Be similar to the Mehdi Abeid deal where he hasn’t broke the first team squad yet, but then Tiote wasn’t first team at Twente either! Ideye Brown for me is bit similar to Martins, and Marvin Martin is a mile out of our league, he’ll get a massive european team! One sochaux player i’d like us to scout is Charlie Davies (on loan at DC united). Incredibly hard worker, great athlete etc, be a great squad player!

Comment #26If Carr has been scouting Martin and Boudebouz then he may well have had his eye caught by this lad if he is good
I trust in Graham Carrs judgement on whoever we get in 🙂

7-8m at a guess with a couple of years left on his contract.
He was tearing the Swiss league apart before moving to Sochaux. Not exactly comparable to EPL, but at least he didn’t struggle there.

Comment #34wwjbd .. i trust carr too.. but im worried that the players he scouted might not be as enthusiastic as cabaye .. for example gamiero and probably gervinho .. if it wasnt for cabaye and tiote, we probably would not have been linked with gervinho

Yeah but a lot of big players won’t be hugely impressed with NUFC right now its Pardews job to convince them we are going the right way. Carr just spots the talent and relays the infomation
