Some good news today, well we think it’s good news.
😀
Blaise Matuidi – Newcastle after this player
Newcastle have launched a doubly bid for Swiss winger Tranquillo Barnetta and Saint-Etienne’s France midfielder Blaise Matuidi.
With a new mess having been created at the club, we have to hope that new players will be brought in quickly, so we can get to see what the make=up of the Newcastle squad will be for next season, with a number of senior players now very likely to follow captain Kevin Nolan out of the door.
In any business, and good or bad, football is a huge business these days, you have to be very careful of not upsetting the leaders, simply because they have a huge influence on other workers.
And there’s no doubt that Kevin Nolan was the leader of the Newcastle club, and the fact he has left, will come as a hammer blow to many of the players on Tyneside. We’ll not even mention the Newcastle fans.
Newcastle are said to be trying to move quickly for 24 year-old defensive midfielder Matuidi, and we think they are trying to bring in Barnetta – simply because he seems better value than Charles N’Zogbia.
Certainly Barnetta looked a very good player and scored both of Switzerland’s goals in the 2-2 draw with England at Wembley in the recent 2012 European qualifier.
Matuidi started his career at Troyes and played there 68 times with 4 goals before he moved on to Saint-Etienne in 2007, where he has played 141 times with three goals, and Arsenal have been interested in this player for a while.
Matuidi played for the French U10 and French U21 and has so far played 3 times for the full French side.
Blaise is of Angolan descent and is said to be a fierce and strong tackler, and Newcastle need another defensive midfielder with Alan Smith on his way out of Newcatsle this summer..
It would be a relief to fans, if the club can bring in both these players, and they would seem to be very good acquisitions.
What do you think?

Comment #213m for another DM when we already have Tiote? I don’t believe this news. If MA was feeling that rich, Pardew would have spent that money on a striker instead.

Comment #5It would be fantastic to see Matuidi and Tiote in the middle. Giving Cabaye free rein for penetrating passes. Problem is, our striker. Ba and Best has barely any difference between them and Best could be an even better player than Ba. We need Fast pacey wingers,
And plenty of DEPTH!

Comment #10I agree Eastender – it will also allow the 2 full backs to push on and create the width without exposing the central defence and add the protection we need like we needed against Everton at home last season when everyone was pushing up

Comment #15Eastander’s team look like Barca’s formation except that Barca plays with 1 DM (Busques) and 2 AMs (Iniesta, Xavi), not 2 DMs (Tiote, Matuidi) and 1 AM (Cabaye).

Comment #17If demba has a injury free season he could easily get 18 goals. Plus people have to rember Tiote will be going to the afrian cup of nations so we need top class cover.

Comment #18I’ve got to say depending on what striker(s) we get, that setup would be completely horrifying.
Opposing players wouldn’t want to cross the half way line leaving the attacking players to worry about nothing else but scoring goals.
Its like Wimbledon at the back and Arsenal at the front… I like it.

Comment #19To be Honest, Joey was great on the radio, praising the club, saying he has great relationship with club, fans, players, coaching staff and even to caterers! He also talked about his contract situation in January, he said he had just found out his wife was pregnant, so he went in asking for a bit of security, he wanted to stay for another 3-4 years because he didnt want to be moving his newborn about at that age, and he was willing to take a pay cut, but they couldnt reach a compromise so he said to the club that other things were on his mind, for example, the andy carroll saga and relegation threat, so he said to wait until after safety is confirmed to negotatiate again
then at the end of the season, he wasnt in the first meeting between club and agent, and he got a phone call saying there was no contract at all on the table for him, so he was dissapointed
he then went on to say how he loves the club and wants to stay here as long as possible, the only way he would leave the club was if a champions league club came in for him, then he would have to considerate it, other than that, he doesnt want to leave at all, which is very understandable in my opinion,
after, he started talking about getting back to fitness and things

Comment #22@eastander exactly the way im hoping we shape up next season.those 2 sitting deep will allow cabaye to dictate play and pull the strings and HBA and barnetra(hopefully) to push on and run opposition full backs raggef

Cards on the table.
I Hate MA and all he stands for, however, I just want my team to do well.
I will be happy with Ba signing if it comes off
Relatively happy with Cabaye
I will be relatively happy with N.aylor
These will make me happy but we need alot more to give me optimism about the new season.
I rate ba on his half season at west ham but oncern about his knee and the fact that alot of the prem defenders will have him close to sussed now for next season so he will have to step it up a gear….its a concern not a gripe!
Cabaye….has he the metal to play in the EPL midfield…time will tell and I am willing to givehim the benefit.
Naylor…if he signs, I sincerely hope it isnt as JE replacment….he gets a 5 in the opts ratings…below average…in the cahmapionship!! So he needs to be squad only!
I would like to see:
2 More strikers
1 more midfileder
2 wingers
a right back and centre back
And if as expected jose goes…..a Proven LB!
I am not asking for much in the grand scheme of things, but as we are losing Nolan/Barton/Jose and maybe even jonas…..we need at least these amount of players to come in!
We NEED maggot to back his Manager properly!! But you all know how i feel on this! Not gonna bark on anymore bout it!! I have had an epiphany i think in the last hour!
Lets get some good quality signings in at the right price and see how we go.

Comment #27Wouldnt Mind Barnetta, Not my first choice “dream” winger signing…. but still quality.
I will be dissappointed if we spent a huge sum on Matuidi, especially since its in a position where we are not really lacking in. (In comparison to RB cover, LB Cover and Strikers)

I was referring to story by Ed.
The Barnetta & Matuidi bids.
There is no confirmation by the clubs of these bids. So it is pure speculation by journalists.
Surprising that a genius like you can’t smell the bullshit.
I guess if you live in it and spout it all the time you get used to the smell Burnsie lad.

Comment #33Hahah Burnsie…what an idiot =P
Angryman, in Eastanders formation you’d have Matuidi and Tiote protecting the back four, Cabaye sat in the middle of midfield dictating play and barnetta and HBA bombing forward.
It would also give the full backs some freedom to push up.
If those signings come off it wouldnt be a bad side, certainly wouldnt concede many.

Comment #39Nufc_mo if the hero enrique just admits he dont want to be here then it will allow AP to start and strengthen some positions but no he hanging on so that the board have no option but to transfer list him before we lose him for nowt. That in turn will make most of the doom n gloom blame ashley snd co when infact its the player power in the dressing room using ashleys mistakes of the past to get the fans on their side and against the board which in turn causes unrest and gives the press more negative headlines. Lets support the team lads and not side with 3 or 4 players who are trying to hold the club to ransom
