Alan Pardew has said the Demba Ba deal is is in doubt following issues with the player’s medical.
This is what Alan said this afternoon:
“There is an issue about his medical, and there has been in the past. We’ve got to overcome those things, but hopefully he can join the club. I think he’ll be a big success.”
“He’s a player that has a natural eye for a goal, my connections at West Ham are very good and I know everything about him.”
“I’m pretty relaxed that he can be a success at Newcastle if we can get him but it’s a big if at the moment because there are some big hurdles to get across.”
So it seems that what we didn’t want to happen may indeed happen, and it seems the striker could fail his medical, like he did at Stoke City in January.
Alan is saying it’s a big if – so surely that means he will not pass his medical.
But we’ll have to wait and see, and some official confirmation on the Newcastle web-site.
But this will be a huge disappointment to the player and to the Newcatsle club too, as we were getting the striker as a free agent after Stoke had agreed to pay £6M for him in January to his former club, Hoffenheim.
At that time Stoke City Chief Executive Tony Scholes said:
“Having agreed all the financial terms of the deal with Hoffenheim and the player, he failed his medical. We will therefore not be signing him on a permanent basis.”
Comments welcome.

Been reading all these comments about Gervinho this, Gameiro that etc etc
Lets face facts who have we signed?? Cabaye…would we have even bothered signing him if it hadnt been for his buy out clause??
There will be no “bum’s out of seats signing’s” that Carver etc have promised. Just average players trading places with average players.
Been here sooo many times in current transfer windows, just cant see how all think we are suddenly going to sign star players. Even Ba is a pretty low attempt at a signing. Is he any better than Leon Best???
If im proved wrong then shoot me, but I just cant see us singing anyone decent whilst Ashley is at the club.
Rant over..ha
(just posted this on the other article but Ed started a new one ha)

Comment #10Is it worth signing a guy with a wooden leg when we have similar already at the club?
Stoke didn’t fancy having a punt at this fella because it was a £6million gamble- but with no transfer fee [other than agents and Ba’s cut] involved if he comes to SJP I reckon they’ll still sign him despite the ? over his knee.
Like the look of Bryan Ruiz though!

Aren’t any of these decent signings that Ashley has made since taking over Tiote – Colo – Jonas – Ben Arfa – Enrique – Barton?? I think that lot are pretty decent, and I think we will continue adding decent signings with Ashley

Comment #31not to bring up the past, but did anyone notice cabaye didnt get a squad number when presented with his shirt after he signed? apparently he’s getting number 4, must have always been a replacement for nolan then?
Hope ba signs, but then again is he doesnt there must be a reason – we dont want crocked players do we, shame no one did any medical checks on a certain £17million signing from madrid a few years back..

Comment #33nufc.com LuaLua set for Seagulls switch Despite featuring in the final two Premier League games of the season after recovering from injury, Kazenga LuaLuahas opted to exit St.James’ Park in order to join Brighton and Hove Albion on a permanent transfer. An announcement to that effect is predicted soon, with the player on the South Coast to complete the formalities of his medical.Seagulls boss Gus Poyet said: “We are really in an advanced situation. I think it’s a matter of time, checking everything, making sure we have agreed with the club, the player, the medical and hoping everything is alright. It looks alright, because I saw him play against Chelsea.”

Comment #34This is to do with his previous complaint. Probably (as a few have said) will involve the club drawing up an injury clause on his contract.
Whether it is he must play a certain amount of games per season to get his full wage or may even pertain to the ACoN competition (covering the club if he does a Owen and comes home f*cked after the 1st game)

Comment #36Not to sure why a medical matters anyway. With our injury track record the last few years, a clean bill of health means sh**te!

Comment #37I am sure that there are no “issues” that cannot be overcome by either party in this drawn out transfer. They are all merely “points for negotation”. One thing IS clear to me – the lad is proven at the highest standard and would get us goals more readily than any of our current strikers.

Comment #38Definitely don’t think he’s failed the medical.
I think (and I saw a few others have posted similar) that the club are trying to cover themselves, maybe with an injury clause on his contract.
Could be he has to appear for a set amount of games for his full wage, or may have a clause for next years ACoN (if he does a Micky Owen and comes home f*cked after the 1st game)
