News today in the Evening Chronicle that Newcastle are close to a deal with Brighton, that will see Kazenga LuaLua move permanently to the south coast club.
Kazenga LuaLua – permanent move to Brighton almost agreed
Brighton of course will be in the Championship next season, so it looks like it could be a good move for Kazenga, and he should get plenty of playing time with the club he has had two loan spells with over the last eighteen months.
With Newcastle likely to be bringing in quite a few more established players over the summer – Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba and Sylvain Marvaux have already arrived – the opportunities for the 20 year old at Newcastle would seem to be limited.
Kazenga is the younger brother of former Newcastle striker Lomana, and had a good three-month loan spell at Brighton last season before breaking his leg, and he scored 4 goals in 11 appearances for the Seagulls.
And Seagulls boss Gus Poyet talked about the pending deal:
“We are really in an advanced situation.”
“I think it’s a matter of time, checking everything, making sure we have agreed with the club, the player, the medical and hoping everything is all right.”
“It looks all right, because I saw him play against Chelsea at the end of last season.”
It seems there is a clear out of players going on at the club with news today that Fabricio Coloccini may even be sold by Newcastle, if a club comes in with an offer that matches Newcastle’s £7M valuation of the Argentine International.
Seville have had a £5M bid turned down by Newcastle already, and we also fully expect Joey Barton to be moved out this summer, as soon as Newcastle get a decent offer in for the player.
Comments welcome.

Comment #2Me too i loved how direct he was, did the simple thing use blistering pace to get to byline and cross.
Stupid move by our board selling a Young player who could become a big player for us.
Better include a Buy Back Clause.

Comment #7who thinks we will have a new starting XI next season??? So far it hs to be:
————-Tiote———-Cabaye———–
Jonas————Ben Arfa——–Marveaux
————————Ba———————–
No English players which is slightly annoying but it looks a top 10 side certainly.

Comment #8Hope to god Coloccini is not sold. Unless we have a replacement lined up then this would be a terrible move. I do like Williamson but as a squad player. Taylor and Coloccini should be our first choice next season. Hope to god we bring in someone as good as if not better then Colo if he goes.

Comment #11Out on loan for another season to Brighton would make sense rather than sell him off now. See how he shapes up with a full season in the championship.

Great team. Competely back that all the way. Might have to watch how Gosling gets on at RB carefully. Also if we were to sign N’Zogbia, maybe he would replace Gutierrez, but that hurts me to say as I love the spiderman (great player).

Comment #18A replacement for Collicini:
Emir Spahic from Montpellier. He’s a bit old, but he’s a real warrior and an excellent player. He don’t got any interesting proposal now.

N’zog is expansive. And i think the whole Carrol’s can’t be spend on transfer. Some must be keeped for salary.
So better re sign Barton for my part. Moreover, even if he’s head is harder than wood, he’s the soul of the team.

After looking at Gutierrez and Marveux for LW I think we won’t sign N’Zogbia because of the asking price which is a shame. As I reckon the Evening Chronicle are right when they say we aren’t aiming to sell Jonas.
Therefore look at this:
Sales:
Confirmed: Cambell Out
Confirmed: Kuqi Out
Confirmed: Nolan Out (£5m)
Probable: Barton Out (£4m)
Probable: Best Out (£4m)
Probable: Ranger Out (£1m)
Probable: Enrique Out (£8m)
3 Out
Buys:
Confirmed: Cabaye: (£4.5m)
Confirmed: Ba: (Free)
Confirmed: Marveux (Free)
Probable: N.Taylor: (£1m)
Possible: Barnetta: (£6m)
Probable: Erdinc: (£8m)
Unlikely: N’Zogbia: (£12m)
3 In
= £25.5m left
*Put N’Zogbia’s £12m back in our budget and you we could have £37.5 to strengthen other areas*. Oh and by the way of course I want Barton to stay and start in the 11 next year but I think Ashley will sell him….Face-Palm.

Exactly the team I would have picked! We absolutely have to keep that English core. Barton is a quality player and with Taylor, Gosling and possibly Sturridge in the starting line up that shows a solid English base which will give us that gritty steel which all top clubs need. As for Gosling, it would be interesting to see him at right back but I can’t see it happening, although i think he has better attributes than Simpson.

Comment #31Colo will not be sold, only 2 teams in spain(real/barca) have the kind of money in spain to pay the wages that we are paying him. Majority of the teams in spain are in massive debt and cant afford to buy players.
Fergie is better lualua so no real loss.
Chronicle still linking us to matuidi, barnetta and erding all very good players.

Comment #33One of the few deals done because a player wants to live and play for a particular club.
I don’t like it, it feels we’re losing a talented young player.
I guess he really likes Brighton, good luck to him.
I’ll be pi$$ed if he signs for another EPL team in a couple of years.

Comment #34I don’t think we need Barnetta, If he comes in that must surely spell the end for Barton, and i’d rather have Barton any day of the week. Another natural leader I think he will be integral to our success by gearing the new lads up to play away games on cold winter weekday nights at the likes Wigan and QPR.

Comment #35been doing some checking and it looks like ben arfa, cabaye and marveaux all played together for the french u 21 team at the same time ,it also looks like matuidi played with them as well.could be someone has done their homework and putting together a team that doesnt need time to gel as it has already played together in the past.

Comment #39I’d be surprised if Barton is still a NUFC player when the season starts.
If he goes on the US tour then I’ll be more hopeful.
I guess clubs will start the real transfer window at the end of July and through August.
So far it’s mainly been free-agents.
Once the big clubs start to get in their targets, they’ll have to start releasing or loaning out players.
I’m still hoping for at least two 10-20M players coming in and that recent signings are just squad strengthening, and replacing Smith & Nolan.
