Newcastle A Massive Club With A Great History

Demba Ba, the 26 year-old Senegal striker left West Ham yesterday for Newcastle United, after taking advantage of a relegation clause in his contract, which made him a free agent once the London club were relegated

Demba Ba – delighted to be at Newcastle

Ba signed a three-year deal, worth a total of around £4M,  and that’s roughly about £25K/week – whoops – I had that earlier  as  £250K/week – sorry about that – it’s got to be that pain medication.

😀

That followed talks he had yesterday with manager Alan Pardew, on where the manager planned to take the North-East club over the next few seasons.

Ba said the following yesterday afternoon, after he had signed for Newcastle United:

“This club is on the up.” “I’ve come here as I feel the club can reach a higher level than most of the other clubs in the Premier League.”

“Things will go from strength to strength. This is a club that will improve and I want to be somewhere like that.” “When I spoke to the manager, I was happy with the ambition Newcastle are showing.”

“We talked and they spoke about where they want this club to be, the players they want to sign and I was pleased to hear that they want the same things I want to achieve.”

“I came here because of the club, it’s massive and with a great history. For me, it was a simple decision. I’ll get better here.”

Demba Ba should be able to score some goals for Newcastle next season, if his form is anything like it was for West Ham this year,  when he scored 7 goals in just 13 appearances for the London club, but still couldn’t save the London club from the dreaded relegation.

And we were sent this chant about  Demba Ba from one of our readers – Adam in Australia – for those who can get to the games:

Ba Ba Demba have you many goals?
Yes sir yes sir more then Andy Cole!
One against Arsenal, two against United
And three against the Mackham scum, who live down the lane!

Maybe United should be replaced by the Devils – as in Red Devils – but it seems a decent chant to us.

Here’s the status of the Newcastle transfer business so far this summer

OUT

Sol Campbel
Shefki Kuqi
Kevin Nolan – £4.5M – West Ham

IN

Yohan Cabaye – £4.5M – Lille
Demba Ba – free agent – West Ham
Sylvain Marveaux – free agent – Rennes

    Ed,
The name Ba lends itself to many songs!
    Already heard:
Ba ba ba, ba ba the man! (Beach Boys “Barbara Ann”)
    May I offer the following:
Cabaye n’ Ba, My Lord, Cabaye n’ Ba (Kumbaya)
All we hear is, great goal by Ba ba! (“Radio Gaga” – Queen)
    Sad or what?!

What a start to a weekend, 2 quality signings.

The doom and gloomers there`s a reason you sign the freebies early, they don`t stay free for long, get them quick. People moaning that they are free would you prefer we spend 15m on them both?.

Marveaux is no where near as injury prone as some people say he`s had a torn hamstring which all fast players get and a groin ijury which again most players get.

Exciting times at Le Stade De Newcastle.

    Im not being pessimistic.

But we need a money signing, im glad we’ve got these players for little money, but doubters are still going to be doubters unless Erding/N’zogbia/Mataudi arnt coming through the door for real money fee’s.

Ciaran8… Doubters said the same thing about tiote, didnt cost alot wasnt playing so must be shit… Dont judge a player until you have seen them play, i have seen marveaux and erding play and they are alot better than what we currently have. Looking good for next year.

Recently seeing all the players been linked away from the club, in total around 11/13 players who could/have moved on.
And after missing out (it looks) on Gervinho/Gamiero and losing Nolan our former Captain it wasnt the best few weeks but very nice to wake up today and find we have signed Sylvan Marveaux, Granted his Injury history is worrying to say the least, End of the day a great squad player nonetheless, hopefully his injuries are past him OR we as a club can get people to specially help the problem.
On his day he can be a great player, but does this mean there will be no Marvin Martin OR Charles NZogbia?

Anyone else getting really excited for next season yet?

@The Ciaran8 – the way I see it, the more bargains we manage to pull off the more likely we are to put a big bid in for someone like Sturridge.

I hope Barnetta is announced next like!

whislt getting players chaep/free is good buasiness – the fact that they all seem to have medical doubts, coupled with the small size of the squad means we could quickly end up relying on the reserves.

Not a great scnario and would no doubt wreck the confidence of the ‘kids’ – we need some real signings – NZog, Waynetta, Shakira and a fast striker or two

Why is everyone going on saying Marveaux is an injury risk? He had a groin problem for 1 season and has had the operation to fix it.

He didnt fail a medical at the bin dippers, he couldn’t agree terms.

    GeordieToon89@

Or that young dude from Belgium we were linked with Wanayama.

    CynicalasEva@

As i’ve stated in my prev post i said it could be the end of being linked with Barnetta/N’Zogbia too.
I think NUFC would only allow 1 more Winger in as rotation as we now have 2 Wingers on our book, Sylvian and Jonas.
If Jonas goes which tbh has been linked alot in past days for some reason, i hope he doesnt we will miss his workrate but if he does then we may go for NZog.
