Robbie Keane To Newcastle – No Way

There’s a report out there today, that Newcastle want Tottenham striker Robbie Keane at St James’ Park this summer – you talk about old stale news.

Robbie Keane – very surprised if Newcastle want this player

That story  was once true – but only if you back-tracked 12 months – and it’s now it;s rather inaccurate, in our view.

There’s just no way Newcatsle will be interested in a player who is past his best – and as we’ve all seen so far this summer,  Newcatsle want younger players, with their best times still ahead of them.

Newcastle’s experience with Sol Campbell last season will hardly convince Mike Ashley to invest big wages in a player who turns 31 next month.

Robbie has just one year left on his contract at Spurs, but is on huge wages at Tottenham, and even if the transfer fee is low, The Irish captain’s wages would be far too high for a player who is not the future of Newcatsle.

But we still keep seeing these daft stories being put out, which were true 12 months ago, and simply seem to be regurgitated as if things hadn’t changed at Newcastle over the last year.

What do you think?

I am getting fed up of people on here acting as though its like football manager.
It cant be good for a side to seemingly change more than half of their side in one summer – its gonna take some time to gel the players in.
Plus we are losing all the heart and steel in the team with Nolan and Barton seemingly going .
How many similar type players we want like Marveux, nzog, Taarabt, Ben arfa, etc all technically great but this doesnt necessary mean they can all convert this in the prem (imagine when this team comes up against stoke – jesus culture shock)
Some guy mentioned lose Simspon and sign Bougherra from Rangers a RB – WTF is he on as he isnt even a RB.
I actually want some English players left in this squad and i want players like Vuckic , Ferguson and Tavernier to actually get some playing time and improve

We had a chance to get keane souness said hes not my kind of striker and we all know who we got instead keane would of been great then not now like hes past it he would be better off with a promoted team

Course we arent signing Zog after Marveux coming in and Jonas ( although possibly leaving) Ben Arfa who i guarentee will play some games at left wing and then there is Ferguson – this kid needs games if we want him to be the star we think he can be

Hahaha, I think even Fat Mike and Pardew know enough about football not to let this one happen. From Erding, to Keane, please, it’s a joke…

no disrespect to anyone here.. but english players always want bigger wages .. and tbh .. theres only 3 4 good players in the english team.. and 2 of them are on the bench probably

jonas is a right winger but we play him left cos there is no one else its already been said that ben arfa will not be playing on the wing and this new guy we have got may have injury problems so at the moment at the club we only technically have two senior wingers plus n’zogbia has been playing or the right of midfield pretty much since he left us

@elpaso – Whether its a good idea or not to make wholesale changes, its happening, so theres no point burying your head in the sand and complaining.

Get over it and hope the team has gelled by the time we play Arsenal.

You never know, could be the start of something special next season.

End of the day Drona, he was offered a contract, if the club meant that much to him he would’ve accepted.

He just wanted to make sure he was picking up £50k a week when he was sitting on our bench at 34.

Drona – is it not the players’ job to back a new manager, whatever the circumstances? And does that mean Pardew and the club (and the fans) are meant to be (literally!) eternally grateful and offer a long contract to an ageing player? Not even Fergie at Manure did that to players like Scholes and Giggs – they earned their on-going contracts each year or two by being almost irreplaceable. Nolan, shut up!

Meant to say that Keane fits our transfer policy to a tee:
    1. Young player
    2. Relatively low wages
    3. Develop into top-class international
    4. Get us out of our seats
5 Sell on for a vast profit in a few years
    6. Err……

agree with magpie6699,, pardew shudnt feel as though hes owes him anything, n just coz nolan did his job we shud offer him a 50g a week 5 yer contract wen hes not even guaranteed a start,,,, weve been a sentimental club for too long n tbh a bit of ruthlessness got man utd, chelsea n man city were they are today

    Good morning guys!
This is offtopic, but I was wondering who will we buy to replace Kevin Nolan. How about Charlie Adam? He used to be in Pool’s radar, but they bought Hendo. There’s been no rumours about him to Newcastle, but me thinks he is just what we need, at the age of 25 and with the leadership qualities he has. His price is max 10 mln, just hope that Sir Alex isn’t interested in him.

I think Matoudi might be Nolan’s replacement like geordiefinn. I hope so at least.

I’m not a big fan of Charlie Adam like, he’s not great defensively. Saw him cost Blackpool a fair few goals last season.

Yep, Matuidi seems to be in our list and wouldn’t mind if we signed him, a great player all the way. But I doubt he has any potential to be our captain? He isn’t even the captain of St. Etienne? Me thinks the next NUFC captain should be from the Great Britain…

At the minute I think we only have two players that would qualify to be captain and thats Colo and S. Taylor.

I’d prefer Colo but apparently his English isnt great so give it to the local lad.

Long time lurker first time poster! If robbie keane was got for the right money and on the right wages. He would be agood squad player to have. Although pushin on a bit, still has quality in his game, better than loven and stolla imo. Plus even ranger would score with half of france behind him in midfield!! Great site btw 🙂

I think he was born with the talent shaqiri has you cannot learn that look at prices thrown about for players with half his talent i think realisticly wed get him for 10-12 why is this not realisitic if we dont buy them young then we have no chance when there already proven look ar what we got for carroll thats unrealistic not to mention henderson , jones etc
