Wenger Could Be In For Both Enrique And Barton

The news yesterday was that Arsenal are in talks with Jose Enrique’s representatives.

Jose Enrique – could be interesting Arsenal?

It’s about a possible move to Arsenal, but the London club could also end up taking Joey Barton to London too.

After watching his team crumble in several games last season, Arsene would have been impressed the way Joey Barton inspired the Newcatsle side back in that second half with two penalties, when Newcastle came from 4-0 down at St. James’ Park with 24 minutes remaining, and finally tied the score at 4-4.

And there’s no doubt that Joey would add some grit and spirit to the always skilful Arsenal side.

Arsenal are considering making an offer but he’ll surely cost a lot more than £1.5M, which is the fee quoted in the People today.

Joey has one year left on his five year contract on Tyneside, and we think Newcastle will want to unload the Liverpudlian this summer.

And Joey has said he would only be tempted by a European Champions League club, which of course Arsenal are – every season.

This is what Joey had said recently:

“I don’t want to leave Newcastle, my family’s settled in the area, I’ve got a great working relationship with everybody at the club.”

“But if someone came in and, hypothetically, offered me Champions League football, whether I’d signed a five, six or seven-year deal at Newcastle, I’d have to consider it.”

We’d be surprised if has excellent relationships with Ashley and Llambias, especially  after his comments on Kevin Nolan leaving the club last week, on his Twitter account.

Wenger should sign Gervinho very soon, the Lille and Ivory Coast winger/striker that Newcastle were interested in – for something north of £10M – and he could also be bringing in Jose Enrique and Joey Barton from the Magpies too.

Comments welcome.

I just cant see Joey fitting in at Arsenal and although Joey has seemed to improve I cant see Wenger taking the risk. Further, I dont think JB has helped his career being on Twitter, whether or not what he says is the truth. It seems disruptive and doesn’t show the club in the best light to other possible incoming transfers

Arsenal could do with a bit of back bone. They’re signing our best players and we’re signing young frenchies? Wenger will be asking to take over from Pardew the way we’re going about things.

CLichy wont agree to join Newcastle… only reason he wants to leave Arsehole is cause he wants to join a team that can actually win a throphy, and not just come close each time…

Time to pull out thos Nzogbia shirts lads, thats if you havent burnt them.

Ill be re-hanging my signed poster 😉

Must say I impressed with MA’s biz sense. I was worried after the AC sale, but he seems to have used that as a wake-up call. After all this is a business and he bought it for that reason.

If MA can get 35M for a half-hit wonder and knows he can bring in world class for around 4M we could be in for a lot of success.

Take Chelsea, 50M for Torres or 50 on Sturridge, Nzogbia, Cabaye, Ba, Marveaux, Ahebi?, ??…

Admitadly MA made some horrible PR mistakes, and still does, but we need to get behind him and start realizing that modern football is a whole new arean and we have one of the Mavericks. Go on MA impress us….

PS – Sturridge for 20M is fantastic business!

I can’t see Wenger taking BOTH Joey and Jose. It will probably be Jose Enrique.

I am really liking the look of the squad now. We still need more depth but we’re doing really well in improving the quality in the side. With still a shit load of money left I can see it’s going to be a very good and exciting transfer window this time 🙂

i mentioned in an earlier post cabaye, ben arfa, and marveaux all played together at french under 21 level and i think matuidi did as well ,on that score the rumours about him coming might not be too far off.we could have four players that have played together before which would help with them settling

    I think thats possible.

MA has at last got some consistent advice for who to bring in to the club (G Carr), but I still think he lacks the proper advice on how to run the club (outgoings etc.). I do wonder how much say Pardew actually has.

Admittedly, I feel the AC cash was to much to turn down and our incoming signings look very good. However, I know its not financially practical to keep our current crop and add more players but changing so much so fast is a risk, but if it pays off it really will look good on MA and the rest.

If I knew I was definitely selling Barton, Nolan, Enrique, Smith, Best, Ranger maybe Collo. Then it would be a resounding No, because I would hope to keep as many of last seasons team together with some incoming transfers, it all depends on the speed of the transition to me, we may be moving too fast if the rumoured sales occur.

But if just a couple of the above went I probably would. Shame I dont know MA’s plan as I might be a little less worried (but at the same time excited with this window and the start of next season).

Exciting times at Newcastle and already 3 great signings. Disapointed about Nolan but it means we’re effectively braking even at the minute with geting Cabaye for 4.5 and selling Nolan for the same.

I also think Barton has to go so we can get some money for him and as long as he is replaced we should be fine. What concerns me is that we seem to be geting rid of the good players we have, and have heard nothing about the perchs, Guthries and and Smiths of the squad. I’ve heard Smith can leave but who will take him? Leeds wont pay his 65 K week.

But i think we have a great opportunity to strengthen the squad if Enrique goes for 12 to 15. We could get…. Hutton 5M, Huth 7M, Bridge loaned, Upson FREE as back up. There loads of defenders available. The sale of Carroll, Nolan and Enrique could buy us a new squad

Gota be careful not to change it too fast though, can Cabaye and Marveux even speak english

Why the f@€k would Zog go to safc? Or even Villa for that matter? I remember Whelan said that Zog asked to leave for a better club, to have a bigger chance of getting games for France, which Whelan understood perfectly well. Maybe it’s just me, but who the &€(! thinks those 2 clubs are any better than Wigan?!?!

Pure optimism on my part, dont get me caught up with all the transfer oracle nonsense.

Starting to sound promising though if you follow enough speculators on twitter.

Really hoping like the rest of you that we make a marquee signing soon. What a transfer seaon for the Magpies?

We are all hoping for a ‘marquee’ signing. Hope it’s more than a tent.

Obviously there will be problems with signing so many new players at one time, new to the team and new to the PL.
    BUT
We are signing these guys on 5-year contracts – that will give us a stability within the team that we haven’t had for a long long time.

Two weeks ago, we would have had a huge problem persuading a ‘marquee’ signing to come to St. James. Now, with the evidence of new class plapers, it may be possible.

What we REALLY need is a captain. Colo is the only real option at the moment. I don’t have a problem with that unless the extra burden affects his game.
Bring one in? But who? If new, would presumably be French?

If Zoggy does want to get into the French squad, he’s best off playing at SJP. Simply because, with all the other French players we’re rumoured to be signing, Laurent Blanc will be up here every so often to see how his international players are doing.
