The news yesterday was that Arsenal are in talks with Jose Enrique’s representatives.
Jose Enrique – could be interesting Arsenal?
It’s about a possible move to Arsenal, but the London club could also end up taking Joey Barton to London too.
After watching his team crumble in several games last season, Arsene would have been impressed the way Joey Barton inspired the Newcatsle side back in that second half with two penalties, when Newcastle came from 4-0 down at St. James’ Park with 24 minutes remaining, and finally tied the score at 4-4.
And there’s no doubt that Joey would add some grit and spirit to the always skilful Arsenal side.
Arsenal are considering making an offer but he’ll surely cost a lot more than £1.5M, which is the fee quoted in the People today.
Joey has one year left on his five year contract on Tyneside, and we think Newcastle will want to unload the Liverpudlian this summer.
And Joey has said he would only be tempted by a European Champions League club, which of course Arsenal are – every season.
This is what Joey had said recently:
“I don’t want to leave Newcastle, my family’s settled in the area, I’ve got a great working relationship with everybody at the club.”
“But if someone came in and, hypothetically, offered me Champions League football, whether I’d signed a five, six or seven-year deal at Newcastle, I’d have to consider it.”
We’d be surprised if has excellent relationships with Ashley and Llambias, especially after his comments on Kevin Nolan leaving the club last week, on his Twitter account.
Wenger should sign Gervinho very soon, the Lille and Ivory Coast winger/striker that Newcastle were interested in – for something north of £10M – and he could also be bringing in Jose Enrique and Joey Barton from the Magpies too.
