Clubs Starting To Queue Up For Mevlut Erdinc

Paris Saint Germain striker Mevlut Erding is attracting interest not only from Lille, but also from Spurs.

Mevlut Erdinc – in big demand

Newcatsle have been quoted a high £10M for the Turkish striker but we wonder if he’s worth that much – especially if Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea could be signed for that same amount of money.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has already told everybody he is interested in the 25 year old Turk, who was PSG’s Player of the Year for last season.

This is what Alan said:

“Erding has always been on our radar – he’s a very good player but that is all I will say at the moment.”

“We are working extremely hard to make deals happen and I’m pretty happy with how things have gone in the transfer window so far.”

Spurs’ manager Harry Redknapp wants another striker at Tottenham, and he has already made enquiries for Leandro Damiao, Diego Forlan and Didier Drogba, so there’s no saying if Erdinc would be a top target for Harry.

Since joining PSG from Sochaux in 2009, Erdinc has scored 26 goals in 70 appearances for the Paris=based side, and he’s a good striker, and would fit in nicely with big Snegla striker, Demba Ba, whom Newcatsle signed last Friday on  free transfer.

And over the weekend, French Champions Lille confirmed their interest in the Turkish International, when General Manager Frederic Paquet told Mercato365:

“Mevlut Erding is a player that we are following. There is no contact, but we know about him. He’s a great player,

Erdinc would be a good buy for Newcastle, but perhaps not at £10M, and we’d much rather see 21 year-old Daniel Sturridge of Chelsea, sign for the Magpies for £10M.

Who do you think would be the better striker for Newcastle?

We have the advantage of a good rep in France and paying up front.

    £8m i reckon.

I’ve never seen him play but his goal record doesn’t say he’s worth £10m. Must be better value out there

Pretty sure he plays in France and is therefore subject to the same news etc as everyone in France. We have a good rep, end of.

Sturridge is number one choice for us all i believe (excepy boater, he probably doesn’t rate him)

I’d pay 10mil if he only wanted something like 30-45k wages, otherwise Sturridge is indeed a more enticing prospect.

We won’t overpay for Erdinc I would agree, an 8M bid from us would be tops. Would rather have Sturridge but many clubs will be after him now so the price will go up and depends on what the new Chelsea manager thinks. He may decide to keep him and sell off Drogba while he is still worth something. He will probably build around youth. I would think Carr has provided us a pretty long striker list.

Pardew is looking for pace to go with Ba’s strength as a combination, Erding is fast but so is Sturidge. Plus Sturidge has a better goal record, has been tested at premier league level and is younger. Sturidge all the way for 10m. HWTL

10m for a EPL-unproven striker whose score hasnt even reached double digit out of the Top4 leagues? just a simple NO for NUFC nowadays! would rather pay 12m for Sturridge or 8m for Lens or 5-6m for Ideye Brown, all younger and quicker with more potential

its fat Ashley we’re dealing with.his first choice for a striker would be someone who’s a free agent.so we wont need to use his fat cash.as for Pardew’s interest, I wouldn’t give much importance as he himself has so many times proven his word don’t mean a thing.he doesn’t really have any final say i guess.anyway striker Sturridge of course.more then the price is the fact that Sturridge wont be new to English conditions or manner of play.how many times have we seen foreign players (really costly ones) unable to adapt to our conditions.as long as its not Keane I’m cool.

why on earth do people choose to believe that we’ll have to pay exact amount PSG are asking for Erdinc, then choose to ignore the price Chlesea put on Sturridge’s head and just randomly make their own price up that we could get him for?

Erdinc was born in France , always lived in France and only played for football clubs in France. His parents are Turkish & emigrated to France 15 years before he was born. Eligible to play for Turkey through his parents. In first 3 seasons scored 37 goals in 80 league games but last year scored 8 in 30. Niafron may be able to confirm if PSG signing of Nene last year had something to do with Erdinc goal to game ratio falling.

Lads are you lot for real when you quote 10-15m for Sturridge? Liverpool have raised the bar paying the stupid
Amounts for Henderson and Carroll. And Sturridge is IMO better then both, not only that, Chelsea don’t need the money. 10-15m? Give ya head a wobble!
