Paris Saint Germain striker Mevlut Erding is attracting interest not only from Lille, but also from Spurs.
Mevlut Erdinc – in big demand
Newcatsle have been quoted a high £10M for the Turkish striker but we wonder if he’s worth that much – especially if Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea could be signed for that same amount of money.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has already told everybody he is interested in the 25 year old Turk, who was PSG’s Player of the Year for last season.
This is what Alan said:
“Erding has always been on our radar – he’s a very good player but that is all I will say at the moment.”
“We are working extremely hard to make deals happen and I’m pretty happy with how things have gone in the transfer window so far.”
Spurs’ manager Harry Redknapp wants another striker at Tottenham, and he has already made enquiries for Leandro Damiao, Diego Forlan and Didier Drogba, so there’s no saying if Erdinc would be a top target for Harry.
Since joining PSG from Sochaux in 2009, Erdinc has scored 26 goals in 70 appearances for the Paris=based side, and he’s a good striker, and would fit in nicely with big Snegla striker, Demba Ba, whom Newcatsle signed last Friday on free transfer.
And over the weekend, French Champions Lille confirmed their interest in the Turkish International, when General Manager Frederic Paquet told Mercato365:
“Mevlut Erding is a player that we are following. There is no contact, but we know about him. He’s a great player,
Erdinc would be a good buy for Newcastle, but perhaps not at £10M, and we’d much rather see 21 year-old Daniel Sturridge of Chelsea, sign for the Magpies for £10M.
Who do you think would be the better striker for Newcastle?
