With James Perch telling the Sunday Sun that he wants to leave Newcatsle and go back to a Championship side so he can get a regular game next season, it seems Newcastle could have quite a clear-out this summer.
Xisco – who will take this lad?
Shefki Kuqi and Sol Campbell have already been released, and last week the surprise news that captain Kevin Nolan was sold to West Ham for around £4.5M.
It seems the club would like to get rid of most of the fringe players, as long as they can bring in some other players, and then move some of the good youngsters into the first team squad.
Players who Newcastle will definitely want to move out include James Perch, Nile Ranger, Alan Smith, Leon Best, Wayne Routledge, Xisco and Kazenga LuaLua.
The problem with Xisco is that no club will take him because of his huge wages, and Newcastle are paying this lad
around £50K/week, and he still has two years left on his contract.
So while the Magpies would love to sell him to get his wages off the books, probably the best they can do is try to find a side to send him out on loan to, for the next two years, and have that club help with his wages.
It’s another disastrous mistake the club has made with Xisco, that’s for sure.
We assume Routledge will move to QPR or some other club, and LuaLua is close to a to Brighton, and a number of clubs are after Nile Ranger, including Bolton Wanderers.
The problem that may stop former captain Alan Smith from being moved out, is his huge £60K/week wages, but it’s clear the leaders at the club over the last two years – Nolan, Smith, Enrique and Barton – are probably on their way out of Newcastle, and the side will be left with precious few leaders.
We expect a number of Championship clubs to come after striker Leon Best, and I’m not too sure why we are unloading him this summer at all, since surely he deserves another season in the PL with Newcastle, after doing so well this year with 6 good goals.
We have to assume Mike Ashley doesn’t think that way.
Peter Lovenkrands, Ryan Taylor and Shola Ameobi can probably do a job for Newcastle from the subs bench next season, so we don’t expect those players to be moved out.
Joey Barton and Jose Enrique are also two players who could move this summer, but we are losing far too many of our top established and proven players all at once, and that can be dangerous – but we assume that’s what the owner wants to do.
What is very clear, is that Mike Ashley along with Derek LLambias are setting the agenda on the transfers at Newcastle, both in and out.
Let us know your views on who you think should go – and who should stay at Newcastle this summer.
Comments welcome.
Note: Rory McIlroy just won the US Open tournament as I finished this article – a fantastic performance by the 22 year-old, especially after what happened on the last 9 holes at the Masters – guts and glory indeed from the lad from Northern Ireland – Americans just love this lad.

Comment #2Smith we can if he lowers his wage at his boyhood Leeds.
But tbh i felt felt our team did above what was expected which was to survive we were even close to near Europa League spot.
So why are we selling so many players? Some i understand like Smith (Too Old /Crap etc..) But Ranger and Lua Lua i dont, Ranger needs confedence and match practice on loan.
Lua Lua looked amazing at Brighton and came back after horror injury and looked very promising why sell a YOUNG player who could of done a great role for the team.
What Mikes trying to do is sell alot and buy alot and hope with the 9 outs and 6 ins that we wont notice that he only spends a few Million of that £35M

Comment #3Massive gamble changing the squad so much but obviously we are all hoping if not praying it will pay off.
Nolan, kuqi, campbell and ireland out
Cabeye, Ba, albeid and Marveaux in.
Four in, four out. Campbell, ireland and kuqi where all flops in my opinion so i would take the four new recruits over the four players we have lost. If jose leaves hopefully we can get a deal where we have enough to buy his replacement (mbengue?) and a back up such as naylor all for the price we sell him for. If we could get a deal like Gibbs and a few mill towards naylor and other transfers it would soften the blow. Hopefully we can offload someone like perch or raylor in apart ex deal for someone like zog or a striker. If chelsea didnt have ashley cole i would offer them jose plus cash for sturridge

Comment #4Of course he can play on the left but in the formation we’re setting up wingers are prefered to play on their opposite side (think Aston Villa, Young and Downing). The majority of the last 2 season’s he’s played on the right. Between Marveauz and Jonas we have the left wing covered, I also belive AP knows that if Ben Arfa isn’t fit he can slot either of them in the same position. We have no right wingers(Raylor is pants and Barton probably wont be here) and considering AP never put Jonas there last year you can probably give up on that theory.
Didn’t realize there was a new article up…

Comment #6My problem with what is going on at the club is that we still have a fair few fringe players who need shifting on yet the ones who have left over the past two windows have been some of our best performers. In an ideal world we would shift them on first improving the squad but hey ho our opinions dont mean a lot because we support regardless. Plenty of time left for transfers so lets see how we do, would be strange if we had all these fast pacey youngsters but only had ameobi fit trying to put the ball in the net or simpson lumping it in the box from the half way line to a small ben arfa who wants it at his feet

Comment #8I think it will be very hard for Alan Pardew to build a good team without these key players and what is worst, nobody knows if Ben Arfa and Dan Gosling are 100% fit. at least three French players in the first team and they will have to find their feet as soon as possible because it will be their first time in the Premier League so it is different from the League 1 in France. I think the players will have to play at their best if they are to stay in the Premier League. As Newcastle United fan I will back all the players in black and white but it will not be easy.

Comment #10it’s a massive clearance sale, bargain! bargain! bargains! to be had… You want a useless striker, we have one! We even have a player, who started out as striker and now is a defensive middie. You name the price and they are yours.. What a bargain! And plenty more to be had! But be quick cos we need to lower the wage bill fast..
I read that liverpool need to lower their wage bill.. Maybe a cheeky 5 mill bid for Carroll… Haha (jks)..

Comment #11marcos i think we have to be considerate that gosling and arfa have had serious injuries and not expect so much to soon. Also Marveaux seems to have played a small number of games lately and Ba is rumoured to have a bad knee. I can see a team like Wolves injuring a fair few of our players at their place, one of the perks of having Barton and Nolan in the team was they were solid and intimidated other teams. I would say now we only have cheick but teams know they can get him booked

Comment #13A clear out of fringe(older), overpaid players is a good idea, as long as we have replacements. We have some young excellent players, but it’s a real gamble to just promote them to the first team. Interesting times ahead, but we seem to be making good moves in the transfer Market.

If it has to be a lad from abroad, im hoping its Jonathan Soriano. 32 goals in 37 games for Barcelona B team, 25 years of age and looks similar to Gameiro in how they play.

Usually you look and if a club has a trend of getting players from here…. they are more likly to get a new player from that area etc…
I feel with NUFC they have bought from
1 – EPL
3 – Ligue 1 (Including Abied)
Signing before that Tiote from Erdivisie so they are going to be in one of those 3 leauges.
But more likely it will be from France but i reckon they could use Holland to find 2/3M Bargain.
Also how obvious was it we wanted that player
1 – Kinda Obvious (Ba)
2 – Out Of The Blue (Abied/Sylvain/Cabaye)
Also Tayrlor from Swansea (if) it happens
So knowing Carr and his team most of the player we get we dont get linked with which helps them get him quickly and quietly, so i would reckon a ST from France and someone we HAVENT been linked with, or one may of been linked but not too much unlike Gamiero and Erdinc.
Someone like:
Youssef El-Arabi – Havent been linked with him and he wants to Leave Caen and wants to move to EPL, 17 goals fronm Wing/ST
Chu-Young Park – Would bring the South Korean interest to the club, a very skillfull and talented player who looks destined to move, and would come to EPL
Olivier Giroud – This guy is amazing, suited to EPL no doubt, strong and quick and quite young at 24
Anthony Modeste – Young at 23 and good eye for goal not sure if he move to EPL
Nolan Roux – Amazing young player at 23, i really rate Nolan and he is destined for a bigger move be that Ligue 1 or EPL
Emmanuel Rivière – I like this player, very young at 20 and not a bad scorer but isnt too prolific but has the frame and attributes for EPL

Comment #21I’m excited by the players we’ve already signed but share the view that we shouldnt get rid of too many of our senior players, but i also think its not time to panic yet. If you look at our 4 departures, 3 were expected. Campbell, Kuqi and Ireland were all going to go and rightly so, none of them contributed to the team and were all signed as short term measures.
Nolan was a disappointment, but he was offered a contract on equal or better value than what he was on, it was only the length wasnt agreed. If he had faith in his ability to still perform at 31/32 it wouldnt have been an issue as it would have been renewed then. Also i dont understand how people say he deserved a new contract. As Joey says ‘he is a player employed by the club’. At what stage do we stop rewarding players with new contracts when they have 2+ years to run, if we got a top 10 finish next year should we give him another one, and Europa league the season after do we renew everyones contract because they done well for a season. Why do players sign 5 year contracts if they want them renewed in 3? If he deserved a new contract, do we the fans not deserve a player to play for us if we are paying him 40 or 50K a week… Thats 7M in wages we’ve payed him in 3 years.
Then if you look at the ins, cant say anything but 3 very good signings all proven quality. Ba is a 1 in 2 games striker. Cabaye full french international and Marveux is more of a risk admit. When i hear the squad will be thinner than last season i wouldnt panic, i bet the club are trying to get people we havnt even heard of being linked to Newcastle. At the moment we’ve gained 3 lost 4 but we’ve soo much more quality though. Pardrew already said Cabaye and Marveux arnt a replacement for Nolan so expect another centre midfielder.
Briefly on Barton and Enrique… Enrique was guna go 12-15 we could buy a new defence with that defenders arnt expensive Matthew Upson on a cheeky free just for the bench too. Barton i think we should keep a hold of i understamd his concerns on 12 month left on his contract however similar to Nolan i think its the length he wants rather than a raise in money.
Xisco give him a chance for a season, might aswell coz we cant get rid. Perch, Smith, Guthrie sell. Sorry for my ramble just this could be the first transfer window in years we could come out winners!!

Comment #33I know this would never happen but i think we should offer Xisco 3, Perch 1, Smith 1, Best 4, Guthrie 3 all to Wigan for Charles N’Zogbia. Would get rid of alot of the fringe players and mean we wouldnt have to spend the 35M use it on other players.
Imagine Wigan at home next season if that happened haha.
Xisco and Boselli upfront for Wigan would be a potent partnership. 1 goal in 17 PL appearances between them with a combined transfer value of 13 MILLION!

If your only source is the sun newspaper that put it out 1 week ago then why are you putting on the website like its 100% certain. Ed you seem to believe everything you read in the papers and then start critisising mike ashley, derek llambais and alan pardew. Comment #38Please not sell Leon Best, he has a future in the PL i think! Why should we sell one of the players that helped us in the though time, when Carroll left, and convienced that he can score some goals! Sell Amobi, Xisco, Smith and Perch, then we dont need to sell anymore! Than Zogbia, Sturridge, Competition for Simpson, Beye? (wouldnt cost much, and he is experienced) and Van Aanholt all in! Than this transfer window whould be the best in Newcastle´s history:)!
