Newcastle Sturridge Bid Dependent On Neymar Capture?

News today that any chance of Newcastle bidding for Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge is dependent on whether Chelsea can acquire Brazilian wonder-kid Neymar.

Neymar – top Chelsea target

Chelsea have been pursuing Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior – let’s just call him Meymar like everybody else – for some months now, and the 19 year-old Brazilian striker looks like a future world star.

Since 2009, Neymar has played at Pele’s former club, Santos, and has so far made 88 appearances for them with 44 goals, and he has 6 Brazil caps with 3 goals.

The Journal is suggesting today that if Chelsea can capture the player, that will put Daniel Sturridge even further down the striker pecking order at Chelsea, and the London club may then be willing to sell their 21 year-old.

Even though the England Under-21 striker has been listed as being worth up to £20M in the gossip press lately, it seems that as little as £10M would be needed to sign the powerful 6’2″ striker.

Daniel certainly looked the part when he scored 8 goals for Bolton in just 12 appearances this year, while on loan.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle would love to take him on loan again for next season, but if Neymar arrives, we’d just love to see Newcastle move quickly for this Birmingham-born striker – and for £10M he would be a great buy for the club.

And with PSG wanting a rather ridiculous £10M for Newcastle striker target Mevlut Erdinc, Newcastle will wait things out to see what happens at Chelsea.

Demba Ba and Sturridge could be a very powerful striker partnership at Newcastle.

What do you think?

Simple really. If Chelsea sign the one or two strikers they’re after this summer, Sturridge will be way down the pecking order and will want to leave.

Whether thats on loan or permanent I don’t know, and who he would go to is a different story altogether because I’m sure most prem clubs would put a loan offer in if he was available.

I say if Chelsea sign Neymar we instantly put a £15m bid in, see how it goes.

Chelsea are trying to sign aguero for £50m now so… not necessarily neymar. neymar is on his way to madrid , so aguero will probably go to chelsea

Nufc are trying to reduce the wage bill, to meet the new regulations over club earnings and outgoings. Without any speculation, it is obvious that nufc will offer less wages because of the new incoming regulations. I think it’s natural for a player to want higher wages, if you or I could get higher wages at work, then we would.
I just hope that he would be prepared to lower his expectations slightly to be able to fit in with the new French players at the club, it could attract him back.
All clubs are going to be in the same situation and as such will have to reduce there wage bills.

I hope Chelsea are successful in their bid to bring in more strikers, I think sturridge will be a fantastic player in the future and would love to see him playing here.

Lets all pray that they get Neymar. Hoping for some transfer news today if coozy was right. U21s on their way home so any deal for Sturridge can gather pace soon. Come on NUFC, start spending that money properly.

Ross Armstrong – You’ve missed out a defender there, unless you think we can take Arsenal a man short. If you do, you might want to put one of our experienced ‘keepers between the sticks.

    @ Ross.

Forster will not be first choice and even if he was, he would need 4 (or more) defenders infront of him, not just 3!

Go back to the drawing board (or Champo) and see what you come back with.

    Re. Sturridge.

I think he is pure class and if he got regular games he would only improve.

He IS worthy of the No. 9 shirt and I feel we should break the bank for the lad.

TBH, I would prefer Sturridge coming in over N’Zogbia.

The main thing for him, or whoever comes in, is getting supply up to them.

Sturridge needs first team footy and we need a striker like him, Newcastle have had their share of forwards who have played for England so it may just help him move up to the senior squad.

When i seen the picture I thought we were in for Neymar there!

Shock aside, I’m not happy with Sturidge on a permanent. £10 mill price tag after playing 12 games, not convinced yet.

A loan deal first to see if this guy is the real thing, There is better value for money out there on more proven first teamers.

Why is everyone so agro? When have We made moves in the market so early before. We have done our homework for once. Injuries aside, ba and marveux are class. Ba is strong and marveux can pick a pass and is very pacey. Everyone should chill. As for Carr to chelsea he said himself after 49 yrs in the game he wants to help the Toon , as his dad played for newcastle. Let’s just wait and see what happens eh,

We need a genuine right winger.
I’ve put Gosling there as I like Barton in CM.

    Jonas/Marveaux/Ferguson
    Cabaye/Barton/Gosling/Vuckic

We’re starting to see some much needed competition for places.
Interesting to see which players can claim the starting shirts.
