Newcastle Clear-Out Continues – Gutierrez Can Leave

More evidence today that Newcastle are having a major restructure of their squad this summer.

Jonas Gutierrez – surplus to requirements?

But perhaps it’s not too surprising there is news in the Newcastle Journal this morning, that Newcastle are now willing to listen to offers for 27 year-old Argentine International left winger Jonas Gutierrez.

Newcastle have just signed French winger Sylvain Marveaux, and while the party line was that he would provide competition for Jonas Gutierrez out on the left wing, the truth seems to be that the Frenchman has been brought in to replace Jonas Gutierrez, who can now leave Newcastle this summer.

Of course we are assuming this news is true, and that the Journal has some inside information from the club.

Gutierrez has divided the opinion amongst Newcastle fans about just how good he is, with a big criticism being that his final ball is not always that good, and he doesn’t score too many goals either.

Pardew has never seemed to have been a huge Jonas fan since Alan arrived at the club last December, and it looks like this summer is going to see a massive change in the Newcastle squad.

Jonas signed a five year deal when he joined from Real Mallorca in the summer of 2008, and he was on a very lucrative wage on Tyneside, so again it looks like Newcastle are bringing in less expensive alternatives, and in the process getting the wage bill reduced and under control.

His Argentine colleague Fabricio Coloccini is on a bigger wage than Jonas, so it begs the question just how long  Fabricio may have left on Tyneside, with Seville being interested in the player recently, and Newcastle presumably willing to sell the center-back for around £7M.

This news, if true,  will not be good news for the 3rd Amigo at Newcastle, Jose Enrique, who is now almost certain to leave this summer, even though Pardew has said many times he wants to keep the left-back on Tyneside.

Certainly the changes being made in the Newcastle squad this summer are so much bigger than we had ever imagined, and could turn out to be one of the biggest changes made to the Newcastle squad for a long long time.

What do you think about this?

This is stupid, just stupid. Jonas was one of the stand out players of last season, all though he may not be always be consistent, he gives his all in the games he plays.

Hope this doesn’t mean collo will leave too ,I would personally keep jonas ,as marveaux is apparently a little injury prone ,so going to need back up .so don’t know whether to believe this ,as I thought pards liked jonas .

For sure we will have a brand new starting eleven next season. Good or bad, I don’t know. Who knows?

The article is from the Journal, and I’m pretty sure it is based around their assumption that Marveaux is a replacement.

And maybe Barton’s twitter comment “me and jonas next”.

No quotes whatsoever. Not even from “a source close to someone” aha.

Not to mention the fact that we currently have 2 wingers in the squad (not counting kids), one of whom has major doubts over his fitness.

    It has to be nonsense.

Hi, this is my first post so be gentle on me, personally i think we should give Jonas till December but play him on the right which i thought was his preffered side (maybe wrong) if no improvement by then sell him off we will still get good money for him HWTL

guys .. its just speculation … i like jonas .. good energy .. never stops running …. but thats it .. he cant cross and doesnt score .. he scored 2 or 3 this season .. but until now this is all paper talk .. until its official ill start worrying abit .. i thought we were going to sell the deadwood in our squad … its seems as nufc are selling based on the amount of money they could get .. but lets wait and see what happens

Not a single quote. Howay man Ed, you’ve said basically every player is up for sale so far this window yet havent provided quotes for any of them.

As someone said the other day, if you believe every rumour about a player leaving you have to believe every rumour about incoming players.

It won’t be a mass exodus this summer!

I don’t rate Jonas that highly, I think Enrique is our real threat down the left and he is the man I will be most sad to see leave.

Jonas has a lot of energy and is full of running, but his end product is not all that really.

I would have thought Jonas could have filled in at left back when Jose goes.I think this would have strengthened the defence and still left a space in the top 22 for Ferguson.Hope this story is just made up BS

Newcastle football club are giving Sports direct £20m of free advertising per season, if we get into Europe it will jump to £40m so its in Ashley’s own interest for us to do better.

Lapdog Pardew and Cashley are starting to take the piss now…. IF true all I can say is F@@koff back down south you two muppets. They’ll get us relegated again. He cannot treat this club like his cheapass shops. All these french lads coming in will be sold end of next season for big profits, which’ll go straight out of the club and into the back pocket.

I like many have been blinded by my love and support for nufc, Ashley can see this and knows he can do what he likes and we’ll still be there. I’d like nothing more thsn to see the back of this idiot.

At the end of the day…no-one likes change…

    BUT THS IS FRIKKIN RIDICULOUS!!!

Ripping apart the team and replacing them with unproven (and injury stricken) players is not a good idea….Im always a positive person but this just smacks of desperation by the club, trying to get the wages under control!!

Jonas CAN leave, Enrique CAN leave, Barton WILL leave, Nolan HAS left… what the f is going on! They’re many critics who don’t rate these players, but they are the banning of Newcastle united… All played a massive part this season, and didn’t abandon us when we got relegated.. Who ever is making these decisions needs a good seeing to.

jonas for n’zog and im happy but we can’t lose collo, he’s been our best CB since he came and probably should be captain. if any of our older players deserves a 5 year contract its collo cos he’s never injured and he’s a top player. sign him up please, he might even take a pay cut.

Is there really such news in the Journal today? This blog is the only place I find this info, no other site says that about Jonas. They usually pop up some time before they get reposted here with a comment from Ed.

If it is true and it happens, I’d have to consider the facts to give a judgment. It’s two things that matter – how much we will get for him and will we bring in another additional body to the squad.

Jonas is valuable. He doesn’t produce much end product indeed, but his energy and fighting spirit are very, very useful for the team. He is like a brick wall for the opposition’s right flank. He holds the ball very, very well and often wins free kicks in decent positions for a cross. Now if Pardew prefers to play a different pattern, I’d be willing to look at it. But if he counts on Marveaux and Shane to fill in the gap I’d be quite uneasy. Marveaux is yet to prove his full fitness after the injury.

I feel we are banking on too many players who might not be up for a whole season in terms of physical condition – Ben Arfa, Gosling, now Marveaux and Ba. It is alright only if they have sufficient cover. So far, they don’t.

Dont believe cwarr07 1 bit ,as pardew said only last week ,that he wanted 2 players in before weekend Ba & marveaux ,and 2 in before end of this week ,then another 2 before start of season ,so why would we have to wait before players are sold ?? Full of shite that bloke !!!

It would be a real shame if Jonas goes and tbh why??

He has played well on the left considering he is a right footed player so why not play him on the right and see if his final ball is better!!!

By the way there has been no clear out, at least as of now. Get the facts right, we have sold 1 single player. It is true it was a shocking transfer, but 1 man does not make a clear out! Unless I’m mistaken and Nolan is Maradona.

What on Earth is the matter with you all?

If Jose, Joey, Jonas, Colo, Shola, Loven, Smith, Guthrie, Ranger and so on leave….

    SO WHAT?!

Most are on massive wages which we’ve already shown can be saved.

If we get more players of the quality of recent signings and they are on LESS wages – this is a good thing.

I for one am loving this “New”castle United.
Long may it continue, out with the expensive old flops and in with younger, cheaper, hungrier talent.

Jonas has got to be played on the right, everybody who moans about his final ball must know this is mainly down to playing out of position.

happens every game, jonas will beat his man get to the line then have to cut back inside to deliver with his right.

play him on the right wing and you dont have that problem. imagine this for am attack

    jonas…….benny……..nzog/marveax

    ………………ba
