Newcastle have made a very good start in the transfer market this summer.
Alan Pardew – very busy in transfer market
It’s a long time since Newcastle brought in three very good players before the middle of June, which is essentially what Newcastle have done so far this summer.
And Newcastle are again ramping up their efforts this week with manager Alan Pardew said to be in a meeting with top club officials today (Ashley and Llambias?), and it seems both transfer targets Mevlut Erdinc and Blaise Matuidi will be on the agenda.
Newcastle have already picked off some low lying fruit, so to speak, in Demba Ba and Sylvain Marveaux, who were both acquired as free agents.
But Erdinc and Matuidi will take some money to bring to Newcastle, with the price set on Erdinc at a high £10M, and the price on Matuidi could even be more than that.
It seems that Newcastle have not officially bid for either player yet, and presumably what initial price to bid for each player could be be something to be settled on today – maybe.
The Evening Chronicle is saying that once again Alan Pardew wants to get some assurances that the club will not sell some of their top players and Fabricio Coloccini is one player Pardew does not want to lose this summer.
Best of luck on that one, since Mike Ashley has shown more than once he will sell almost any player if a club comes in and met Newcastle ‘s evaluation.
Pardew has lost out on both Andy Carroll and captain Kevin Nolan so far at Newcatsle – two players he wanted to keep but were sold.
And we’re a little fed up with the long running Jose Enrique sage, and it would be good if some resolution – some quick resolution – can be arrived at with Jose.
Our view is that if a player wants to leave, it’s best in the long run if they are allowed to leave.
And we can probably expect that Swansea’s Neil Taylor will become the 4th player to sign on at Newcastle this summer, although that deal has been delayed and the Evening Chronicle is reporting that Everton have registered an interest in the player.
At least Newcastle seem to be getting on with things in the transfer market, and of course there’s still a lot of work to do this summer.
Comments welcome.

Comment #23We would want to be upping our efforts seeing that we might let 14 players go!!!
Is it a possibility that MA will sell the club and he wants to cash in on players and leave the club with a poorer team????????

Are you serious 10mil???????
did not know that, ok he’s good but would never pay that for him.
Jesus with values like that, Henderson 20mil, Carrol 35mil, and still people wonder why so many foreign are brought in to this league.

Comment #31I posted this earlier on another thread. Wanted to make sure it doesn’t get lost back there.
_______
Just signed in today and I have to comment in Ed’s defence. Frankly I am embarrassed for the man. I have often wondered how it is that he can selflessly devote so much time to engage in this forum, but the fact that he does has obviously impacted a great many of us. We should be thanking him for his tireless efforts, even when he is going through surgery and recovery, instead of slagging the man. All he has done is amassed all the speculation and rumours and established a place for us to discuss it. We may not agree all the time, but that is the whole point behind a blog like this. I don’t mind the infighting (Yeah you Angryman!)…in fact it is very entertaininig. But turning on Ed is inexcusable.
HOWAY Ed!! Keep up the great work!!

Comment #34dont get me wrong im no fan of ma but i think this squad can be in a very strong position once the new uefa rules come in, we need to get rid of huge earners from our squad.you can pay wages for two cabaye’s or one barton… you do the maths. add to this carr seems to be pulling in some cracking deals, prehaps the future of the club isnt as bad as we might have thought….

Comment #39nufc_back to glory – I was tweeting Mark Douglas (the local reliable journo) about him. He seems to think we’ve watched him and were very impressed. He’s only got a year left to run and is twice the player of Zog/Taarabt, could get him for £8m given his situation. Think we’re just biding our time, with the higher fee deals especially.
Let’s see how it all plays out!
