There were some stories out earlier today, that Neil Taylor may have rejected a contract at Newcastle.
Neil Taylor – Newcastle offered him a 5 year deal
And the news going around, was that Everton may have moved in for the player and beaten Newcatsle to the 22 year old Welsh International.
Neil is now back in Swansea, but the Evening Chronicle is reporting this afternoon, that the inside information from the club is that the Newcastle deal is in fact still very close to completion.
It seems the deal is a long one – a five year deal – and inside sources at Newcastle are saying there is nothing untoward in the delay, and they still expect Neil to become a Newcastle United player.
The 22 year-old, who made massive improvements in his play last season at Swansea last season, will then have to fight it out for a position at left-back or on the left side of midfield in the Magpies’Â first team next season.
That’s good news – and of the two stories doing the rounds today on Taylor – we hope this one is true.
Comments always welcome.

Comment #5Drona…we could have done that last season with a bit of ambition and some money spent…don’t forget who finished above us! But here’s hoping for next season, eh.

Comment #6Matuidi and Tiote woud be absoulutely solid in midfield. However, 12-15 million is too much in my opinion, I think that that type of money shouldbe spent on a striker instead. I woud be happy i we spent 15 million or so on sturridge as i believe he is a future star of English football. Ben Arfa is our main man next season if he stays fit. 10-15 goals imo. Bring on the Arsenal in a ‘Battle of the Frogs’ match.

Don’t you find it funny that players want to join us despite us finishing 12th whereas Blunderland finished 10th and still they can’t even attract any names. Only players they can sign are the Larsson’s and the Dongs whereas we’ve signed players who are genuinely going to make us stronger next season?

Sunderland are worse off coz all their loan signings have gone back to their parent clubs and they dont have the cash to buy new ones – thats why they were touting Gyan around.
At least the players who leave us (majority anyway) will command a fee, so we can reinvest.

Comment #14Drona…IF we could add these players to the good one’s we have already got I would be a bit more confident…but I think it’s a revolution dictated by vindictiveness and jealousy and not evolution, but we agree on one thing, Sunderland are still cacka despite their posturing and bitterness!

On top of that, they barely have a defence,
Onouha and Mensah returned to their respective clubs, and Agent Brucey doesnt want to get them permanently due to African cup of nations…
They have 6 Defenders for 4 positions.
One of which only broke into the first team due to Injuries, and another that flopped.

Comment #20ED, was saddened to read about your recent diagnosis. i sincerely hope you recover from this terrible news. chin up buddy, your in a lot of peoples thoughts and in some cases their prayers. stay strong ED x
onto nufc, am all 4 replacing average players with something better, but not to the detriment of the team as a whole. it will take time for these new arrivals to settle in with a change of football tactics, positions, training, language, food etc.

We get all those in mate (depending on how quickly the team could gel) I would hope top 8 would be a minimum requirement.
We would have very good options in attack, and the midfield would be on paper as impressive as any teams in the league in my reckoning.
If Ba stayed fit and kept close to his goal scoring record, and Erding started to find his feet then im sure with the creativity we would have in the middle of the park we could give the likes of Liverpool, Spurs a run for their money.
It’s all if’s and but’s and we havent signed the majority of the players linked but if Matuidi and Erdings agents comments are anything to go by then we’ve got as good a chance as any of signing them.
Fingers crossed the top brass follow through (not literally) with their promise and sign some quality.

I still wouldn’t give up on the board. Infact, when was the last time we had a player sold for 35mil and the board got the chance to reinvest? The fact is that we were in so much debt that Fat Mike couldn’t afford to shell out more cash on players due to the debt. All the season ticket money went to balance the books and we can see the change. Lets give the fat man a chance, we all hate him but he has OUR 35million and he knows he needs to buy class players or he’ll be walking without a head and the public is going to totally hammer him be it in the form of protests or be it more grave in the form of not going to games. For once I’m feeling positive about next season and we fans just have to hope that we can get some reaction from the board and the new players and they take us where we fans belong, and where we have some unfinished business that is Europe and the top 7
