News That Neil Taylor May Reject Newcastle Contract

For the last week or now, we have been expecting Newcastle to sign Swansea’s Neil Taylor.

Neil Taylor – may not be coming to Newcastle

And we mentioned yesterday, there had been a delay in the contract signing, and Everton were also in for the player.

And today sources in Swansea are saying that Taylor has in fact rejected a move to Newcastle and could join Everton instead.

The left- back, who can also play in left midfield, was a much improved player last season for Swansea, and Newcastle had found out he had a £1M release clause in his contract.

Taylor started his career at Manchester City, but signed on at Wrexham, in 2007 before moving to Swansea only last summer, and last season he made 32 appearances for the newly promoted side.

If this news is true, we can only assume he was not happy with the terms offered by Newcastle, and if he does move to Everton, that the Toffees were willing to offer him a better contract  in some way – either better wages, a longer deal or a mixture of both.

It’s becoming very clear that Newcastle will only go so far with each contract, and if a player ends up not signing it, that’s it.

That’s even happened this summer with the former Newcastle captain Kevin Nolan, who is now a West Ham player,

We suppose you win some, you lose some.

Newcastle may have lost out on Neil Taylor.

i think this is good news, seen a few comments etc saying taylor wanted to be 1st choice, guessing this means enrique is staying (or a new better lb is coming in) taylor was only ever gonna be back up to enrique/ a new lb. we do need back up for lb though so im hoping we have an alternate

just thinking, demba ba had a rumour he wasnt signing before he did, cabaye was delayed and doubts came up. they signed within 24hrs after the doubts were published so perhaps this is another ploy and he’ll be signing soon

We’ll see what happens, eh? If he doesn’t sign he’s a greedy bastard who can’t play anyway and if he does, he’s the next Gareth Bale and MA’s masterplan is taking shape…life around here is so black and white!

Honestly so what?We know nothing about this player and chances are that he’s just as good as Perch.

Let Everton have him; they have alot mare experience with fringe Championship players.

We still have Enrique and Ferguson. We’re alright for now. RB should be a prioritize and then wait and se what happens to Enrique – think they already have a replacement in mind.

if he wants the guarantee of first team football, why pick everton? they have one of the best left backs in the country in leighton baines…

I suspect that “replacement” might well have been Taylor, Jesper, we haven’t actually had adequate cover at left back in the last 4 seasons…Ferguson is not a left back.

davybtoon knows as much as any other poster on here and most of the journalists.

We don’t know who the real targets are.

It’s a long time until the window closes.
Gervinho isn’t signed up by anyone yet.
He’s seen us sign good players, that he knows well.

If no big clubs take a chance on him he may come here.

lads ive been writing on here since last week about taylor not coming and nobody would listen a friend of mine works with a foamily member of taylor who told him he wouldnt sign unless he was given guarantees that enrique would leave it looks like ‘el torro’ could be about to stay that would be great news taylor said hed rather be 1st choice at swansea than 2nd fiddle to either enrique at us or baines at everton.

I still understand why we’re apparently shipping out Ranger and Best rather than Loven and Shola. Surely you keep the younger, better and more prolific(in the case of Best) players and ship out the old dead wood.

I don’t believe this for one minute, Newcastle were the only team in for Taylor according to Mark Taylor, who is the only journo getting it right regularly.

Also, could someone mention to Ed in the other post that everytime he writes the word str*p instead of kit, it sets off the work filter and can’t see anything….

    Ta 🙂

Jose Enrique has made some interesting tweets on Twitter like

back from holiday time for decision

I Want to stay in Newcastle but I don’t know what’s going on here

I apologise if I have made some mistakes but I’m just writing it from top of my head.

If true maybe he hasnt decided yet if hes off.

geoff777…(27) I’ll give you one thing, Gervinho fits the bill in that he is based abroad and there was a flicker of hope because of his African connections but the guy is way above what we are prepared to pay and as soon as other teams start bidding we back off.
As for Davyb, he is more than entitled to his opinion and although he is embarrassingly pro-Ashley and our dismantling revolution, he may get something right eventually – but all “sources” point to Gervinho (a talented but over-hyped winger and not the striker we so desperately need) NOT coming to NE1

Angry how do you know Taylor isn’t good enough?

Just because he doesn’t have much experience doesn’t mean he’s not good enough.

Smalling at Man Utd was playing non league just three seasons ago.

I hope he is not first choice so he can be exposed gradually, but would welcome him her if Graham Carr rates him.
