Does N’Zogbia Really Want Newcastle Return?

The news today is there has yet be an official bid for Wigan winger Charles N’Zogbia, from any interested club.

Charles N’Zogbia – does he want to return to Newcatsle?

We keep hearing different stories coming out of Newcastle about the winger.

Only a few days ago, there was news that Newcastle were being turned off by Charles, because he seemed to be trying to drive up his wages and create an auction, and would simply join the club that would pay him the most money.

But today the Evening Chronicle is reporting that N’Zogbia has made it clear to his agents and advisers, that he would like to return to Newcastle, and we’ve heard that more than once this summer.

And the fact that Newcatsle now have French speaking players like Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba, Sylvain Marveaux and Hatem Ben Arfa at the club, that could even be true.

Other clubs interested in the player include Sunderland, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, and the Evening Chronicle is now reporting that wages – contrary to earlier reports – are not a problem.

Charles is on vacation over here in Miami, and a source, said to be close to N’Zogbia,  told the Evening Chronicle today:

“Charles is still on holiday in the States.” “But he would be delighted to come back and complete a move to Newcastle.”

“It’s not all about money for Charles and, despite what people have said, it is very much about football for him.”

“He knows what a massive club Newcastle are and is determined to be part of things next season.”

It’s thought the fee for Charles will be around £9M, and that’s not a bad price, given that Charles was sold to Wigan two years last January for £6M plus Ryan Taylor.

The price cannot go too high for the winger, because Charles’ contract at Wigan has only one year to run, and he could be available for nothing next summer, as a free agent.

Since Charles moved to Wigan, the twice capped French International has added goals to his game, and in 90 appearances for Wigan over the last 30 months, N’Zogbia has 18 goals.

While at Newcastle,  from the summer of 2004, Charles played a 158 times and scored 9 goals.

Comments welcome.

I think it is the fee that is the problem.

He is a free agent next summer, so you would not wanna pay huge for him.

Good news that it is now a flat rate fee of £9M now tho.

We only have Maveaux and Jonas on the wings mate, so we need more bodies in.

“A source close to the player”

Hahaha. That line gives newspapers freedom to make quotes up.

    Fantastic.

Zog played rw for france last time i watched him and a lot there for wigan this season. He was v good for france and scored from the rw. He can play there, and is just as good if not better on the right as he’s got a good shot on him as well and can cut in

I still remember Zog’s 2 goals against us last season. He was a nightmare. Thank god he’s going to play for us next season. SkyBets regarding zog joining us is still suspended. 1 of the best wingers in the league no doubt.

I think if we bring in another left winger then that might be Jonas on the way out. Hope I’m wrong as I would love to see us have strength in depth but thats what I’m thinking.

why Jonas be out if we bring nzogbia? As it stands, we only have Jonas and Marveaux as our potential first team wingers. We need atleast 2 more wingers and Nzogbia and Barnetta will be just nice.

he should have thought about this before he went and scored against us twice last season! we would have finished higher up the league and had more money to go and sign him 🙂

Well, there’s now 2 french international (Ben arfa and Cabaye) and one potential international (Marveaux). So, the National team Staff will closely monitoring the NUFC now.
Which mean it’s a good place to be for players with ambitions concerning “les bleus”.

Just my opinion, but I bet they are waiting for Jonas to agree his transfer before finalising with Zoggy.

My uncle lives in and supports malaga and he reckons Jonas is going there!

Tds… A source close to the player is his agent but he does not want to be quoted on the record. Charles is obv keen on a return going off what he put on twitter a few weeks back, he would be the missing bit of the jigsaw for me. Marveaux, ben arfa and nzogbia can all play in anywhere in the 3 in a 4231 so we could rotate them during the game. All of them are quick, skillful, good deliveries and can score. Would be a very good midfield.
We need another strike(erding), another dm(matuidi) and another rb (?) then we should be good to go for next season.

We were linked with a player from Portugal in Jan, can’t remember his name now, but I believe he plays for Sporting. A pacy little striker, could fit well in alongside Ba. Please, Could someone help me with his name? Could be a result of thorough scouting

I hope not, Wayne Bridge is one of the worst LB ive seen in the EPL, slow, doesnt concentrate enough, looses players he marks, doesnt track well, cannot attack, has no skills….. etc…..

If we are replacing Jose Enrique for Bridge we are soo aiming for Championship.

Comments and opinions about Marveaux have been frozen by his reluctent injury.

In 2009/2010, he was very popular. Compared to many of our young genius, he was praised for his regularity. So, if he’s fit, he will be really usefull.

I reckon unless Jonas is being primed for a move, there is no chance we’ll pursue Zog. He’s commanding at least a 10mill transfer fee, with 40K+ wages on top. It doesn’t make business sense to have 3 left wingers, not to mention Abeid (lens kid) and Ferguson trying to break in on that side or opposite.

On top of that, I don’t understand how any fans can actually approve of his return? All we have heard from Zog’s ‘sources’ is that he reckon’s we’re a big club… Well, not when the shtick was hitting the fan and he got huffy over a temporary manager’s flippancy. Apparently at that time anywhere, including Wigan, was a much more attractive prospect. Don’t forget he virtually gave up towards the end of his time.

So if both business sense and ‘team spirit’ it doesn’t add up to me, and as stated with such a fee – it’s a gamble I can never see Ashley taking.. Thankfully.
