The news today is there has yet be an official bid for Wigan winger Charles N’Zogbia, from any interested club.
Charles N’Zogbia – does he want to return to Newcatsle?
We keep hearing different stories coming out of Newcastle about the winger.
Only a few days ago, there was news that Newcastle were being turned off by Charles, because he seemed to be trying to drive up his wages and create an auction, and would simply join the club that would pay him the most money.
But today the Evening Chronicle is reporting that N’Zogbia has made it clear to his agents and advisers, that he would like to return to Newcastle, and we’ve heard that more than once this summer.
And the fact that Newcatsle now have French speaking players like Yohan Cabaye, Demba Ba, Sylvain Marveaux and Hatem Ben Arfa at the club, that could even be true.
Other clubs interested in the player include Sunderland, Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton, and the Evening Chronicle is now reporting that wages – contrary to earlier reports – are not a problem.
Charles is on vacation over here in Miami, and a source, said to be close to N’Zogbia, told the Evening Chronicle today:
“Charles is still on holiday in the States.” “But he would be delighted to come back and complete a move to Newcastle.”
“It’s not all about money for Charles and, despite what people have said, it is very much about football for him.”
“He knows what a massive club Newcastle are and is determined to be part of things next season.”
It’s thought the fee for Charles will be around £9M, and that’s not a bad price, given that Charles was sold to Wigan two years last January for £6M plus Ryan Taylor.
The price cannot go too high for the winger, because Charles’ contract at Wigan has only one year to run, and he could be available for nothing next summer, as a free agent.
Since Charles moved to Wigan, the twice capped French International has added goals to his game, and in 90 appearances for Wigan over the last 30 months, N’Zogbia has 18 goals.
While at Newcastle, from the summer of 2004, Charles played a 158 times and scored 9 goals.
