Newcastle Still Locked In Tough Negotiations For Top Striker

It seems that Newcastle are locked in tough negotiations with PSG for their Turkish striker, Mevlut Erdinc, but no fee has yet been agreed between the two clubs – yet.

Mevlut Erdinc – no agreement on transfer fee

We think that once a fee can be worked out,  the transfer could go through fairly quickly,  with the player more than willing to join  Newcastle.

But Newcastle will not be taken to the cleaners this summer by any club over unfair transfer fee.

PSG were reported to be looking for around £10M for their striker, but something just over half  that amount, would seem to be a fair price, because after all it appears like Mevlut will lose his place to newly signed Kevin Gameiro next season at the Paris club.

The Newcastle Journal is reporting today that the Tyneside club were quoted a fee of £6M for the Turkish International, when they first inquired about the player last summer.

And Newcastle will no doubt be arguing that although Erdinc played very well last season in France,  he only notched 9 goals in his 34 appearances for the Paris side.

There may be a lot wrong with the current hierarchy at Newcastle, but they will not be messed around by clubs in the transfer market, seeking high prices for their players.

Newcastle will try to get a decent deal for the player, but don’t be surprised if at some point Newcastle just walk away from this deal.

To get a deal PSG must first lower their valuation of the player.

I’d still prefer seeing a weighty challenge made for Daniel Sturridge given his proven premiership quality and ability for finding the net. Would a bid for Pavlyachenko be out of the question? He’d compliment Ba well imo

I think Pavlyachenko is so under-rated and if was given regular football would be a regular scorer…. I dont see why we are pushing so hard to get this Erding as he scored 9 in his last 34 goals and is there offload as they are getting Gameiro

  • Haha, Ngog doesnt want to get lower wages at the Black cats.

However, with Ngog on holiday and keen to weigh up his options, the clubs agreed to conduct the transfers separately with Henderson signing for £16million,

Doesnt even sound like he fancies going to them!

Yes he’s turning 30 but a very under rated player and desperate to leave spuds. I think a little experience would be benificial. Does anyone actually know the average age of our squad these days?

I like this player to wear black and white but I actually worry that this is another tactic by Mike Ashley trying to con the fans that the club is ambitious and willing to spend the 35millions but there are so much external factors that fail them.

According to Gervinho’s agent, Newcastle did not put any bid on the player, so I believe Mike is just trying to keep the money into his money and when it comes to August, Bang! Time’s up for the transfer window and here we go the free Demba Ba for our strike force as Andy Carroll replacement.

Don’t get me wrong I am happy with all the 4 signings so far but I am wondering what is Mike’s intention for not spending a penny yet in this transfer window.

@tudgenufc. I think we’re pushing hard to get him because generally he gets goals, this season seems to have been a hiccup, as in the previous couple he got a canny ffew. His career record so far is better than 1 goal per 3 games.

    @terencelim

Its simple really. Free transfers and release clauses in contracts make deals alot easier and quicker as you only have to agree a fair contract with the player/agent.

Signing a player who is neither is a complicated process as you have to first agree a fair price with the club, then agree it with the player.

As we’ve already seen with Wigan quoting two seperate prices for different statures of teams you can see how these things can take time and sometimes become drawn out.

I fully expect a significant amount of money to be spent this summer.

    HWTL.

Would love Erdinc at newcastle! He’s very very quick, his goal scoring record was good up until last year and whoever he plays with upfront seems to get goals! Plays on the shoulder of the last defender so would give us a dimension we don’t currently have! Also, seen a few people say he’s turkish? he’s not, hes french born, his first language is french and never lived far outside of paris! same as Ben Arfa and Demba Ba! he came through clairfontaine aswell so take a guess he knows ben arfa, marveaux etc! Anyone who says they don’t want him either 1) hasn’t seen him play or 2) hasn’t seen the current roster for strikers at the toon! Get him in!

Too many Frenchies already mate! 🙂
Remy has been bought for 15 million EUR and had a cracking game for France the other day. As had the Zog! would love to get him back!
Would buy from the Dutch league (as I’m Dutch). Ruiz from Twente is a class player or Wijnaldum from Feyenoord…

If we can keep hold of the rest of our players i wouldnt mind if we jst spent just £20m of the AC money if it meant us gettin Bassong and Sturridge. If we could spend £30m and get N’Zogs, Bassong and Sturridge i think it would be a very successful transfer window.

    —————Krul—————
    Simmo–Bass—-Collo–Enrique
    ——–Barton——Tiote———
    Ben Arfa—-Cabaye—-N’Zogbia
    ————-Sturridge———–

    Bench:
    Harper
    STaylor
    Jonas
    Marveaux
    Ba

with no more players going we would have real strength in depth to challenge for reasonable league position (top half of table) and a cup!

I think PSG will sign eto or some one else cause they are trying to sign former inter coach leanardo and with another stricker in PSG squad erding will lower down the peaking order smilar situation to sturridge so i guess we will buy both stturidge and erding and in journal there was news that NUFC are after two strickers may be these are the 2 guys or it could be those 2 swedish league players

I have never seen this player play before. He must be good if we are keeping in ‘tough’ negotiations with the club and player, but I don’t like the sound of £10million for a player that’s scored 9 goals in 34 appearances in the French league. The English league is much more quicker and talented to the Franch league, respectively. Can he cope? £10million? I’m not sure on that one.

I still think Nelson Valdez from Hercules. Absolutely mint striker, fast and powerful.

He just joined them but they were relegated so he shouldn’t cost more than 5mill.

8 goals in 25 games for his first season in La Liga isn’t bad.

OneAlanShearer – i think you will be on your own there mate he was our best player the season we got relegated and i cant think of a cb we have ever had that was as consistent as him, but every1 has a right to their own opinion. STaylor had a good end to the season but i seem to always feel on edge when he is on the ball on in a intense defensive situation.

plus with that team i think it has good ELP experience with a strong British core with a French flair with the attacking three, as well as bass and tiote being fluent French.

Sick of hearing that Erding only scored 9 in 34 last season, so what, how can you judge a players merits on stats? Carr has been watching him and recommends him so that should be good enough for you.
Rooney scored 11 league goals last season in a championship winning team, you all seem to want Sturridge, before last season he had scored 6 in 47 league games.
Stats are just numbers lets leave judging players attributes to the people who have watched him over the last year, then we can judge him once he is in a black and white shirt.

Erdinc seems decent but do we really want to get into europe? if so then this calibre of striker is not going to cut it. If we truly want to push into europe we need to splash out on players with REAL class, namely sturridge and zoggy. When we were in europe not so long ago we had some of the best players in the league, esp strikers and we need to do that again. People agree??

otters. true I do respect that, but I just find it unlikely and its quite a gamble to bring him in as our no 1 striker. Esp when theres a possibility of getting one the brightest talents in football at the mo in sturridge; he could genuinely be the next shearer

But is there a possibility of getting Sturridge? No one knows, and Erding will be fighting with BA and maybe one other new arrival (fingers crossed) to play and healthy competition will only make them peform better.
Look at Hernandez, who thought last season he would play that much for Man U, and look how he played.
Defenders don’t like quick strikers who play on their shoulder and from what i read thats what Erding does.

I suppose it is a bit risky waiting on sturridge and I agree, players that play on the last man can be very handy if theyre good at it. Im just a bit dubious of his quality, but hey if carr says so Im game

I think any signing if the player has noe PL experience there is a risk, even the big players like Ballack Shevchenko Veron who were “world class” struggled. But the prices in PL these days are ridiculous and I would rather risk a foreign international at 4-8m then pay 15m + for the players that are going around these days, your Henderson’s, Youngs’s etc.

I am not exactly enamoured with the clubs interest in this guy. He only scored 9 times all season in the FRENCH league!. When is ashley actually going to spend some of this money he has?. N zogbia should definitely return and why are the club not interested in Sturridge i wonder. Oh yeah because that would mean not doing something on the cheap.
