Liverpool And Newcastle Compete For Young Algerian

There’s a report in The Sun today that Newcastle and Liverpool are two clubs competing to sign Sochaux midfielder Ryad Boudebouz.

Ryad Boudebouz – Newcatsle and Liverpool interested

This is not the first time there has been a Newcastle link with the Algerian player this summer, as the lad has fallen out with his coach and wants to leave the French club.

News today that Liverpool’s Director of Football, Damien Comolli,  tried to sign the player in January, but the Liverpool approach was rebuffed by Sochaux.

According to the Sun, a Liverpool contingent are flying to France this weekend to have further talks with Sochaux,  in another bid to bring the 21 year-old to Anfield.

Boudebouz was born in Colmar, France but has elected to play for Algeria, the country of his parents, at full International level (7 caps), although that was after playing for the the French U17 and U19 sides.

The attacking midfielder has been at Sochaux since 2004, but as we said earlier,  his ambition is now to leave the club for pastures anew this summer.

This is what the lad said recently:

“Things happen quickly in football. I will only say that I am no longer certain of staying put at Sochaux.”

The price on the youngster is said to be around £5M, and the Sun is reporting that it looks like Liverpool will now beat Newcastle to the player.

The Newcastle United club have a terrific name in France, and if they really want this player then presumably they will go after him, and they have already shown they can beat Liverpool to a player this summer.

That’s why Sylvain Marveaux will be wearing a black and white shirt next season and not a red one.

Ryad ha splayed 103 times for Sochaux with 18 goals, and he could be another very good acquisition for Newcastle.

What do you think?

For rotation he’ll be great but I don’t see it happening without some players leaving first. Our midfield has plenty of depth for the time being I reckon.

mr T…iote —- I would have Bertrand he a really good young left back but.. wer signing Taylor for our young cover so wer going to be getting a more experienced one if Enrique leaves.. wouldnt be suprised if we get either Warnock or Konchesky

  • @Mr.T…iote

I reckon if we get Barnetta we wont Go for Boudebouz, and vice versa.

    Isnt Bertrand a Right back?

Well now i want Barnetta over Boudebouz…

With Tiote and Ba going To ACON, we cant risk losing a 3rd…. especially if he is possibly going to be a starter for us next season…

Fellas, Pardwho has already stated we cannot compete with the likes of Liverfool and Spuds when it comes to wages etc.

The only reason we got Marv was because we paid what he wanted wheras they didnt. If they really want boubebouz or whatever he is called- they will get him over us.

It will make my piss boil if they get zog (wolves get evans, stoke get dann, bolton get sturridge) we are in danger of letting him join either them, SMB or villa. HURRY UP FATLAD – TICK TOCK!!

~Vive la révolution de Châteauneuf~ i cud see it tbh,, barnetta is a utility man, marveaux, benny can both play LW n SS,, nzogbia can play LW RW n SS,, boudebouz can play a RW n LW so it offers us more options n quality n a dont see gutti here next season,, n nar bertrand is a LB n GeordieToon89 tbh a think we shud be after an english LB as i think its wierd only having 2 english lads starting,, a dont wanna see 2 the 3 washed up LBs brought in (bridge, warnok, konchesky) so that leaves gibbs, bertrand or baines,
baines will cost 15 plus, so a reckon it shbe gibbs or bertrand as 1st choice with naylor challenging

dont get me wrong T…iote i would love to see Gibbs or Bertrand and would be quite dissapointed if we ended up with Warnock/Koncheskey as it goes against all of the requirements ashley has said.. but if we could get 1 of Gibbs and Bertrand and Taylor challenging we’d be sorted in tht department with couple of very good players

@stuart i think it would be closer to £8m, he is a different type of striker to Erding though. We pay cash up front so maybe somewhere closer to £5.5m.

I would still want Erding as well.

If it was a choice between Erding and Sigthorrson I’d go for Sigthorrson like, Erdings goalscoring record isnt great.

Still hoping/praying for Sturridge though haha.

GeordieToon89 i agree m8 think bertrand is valued at 5 mill n he’ll be on less wages so itd make perfect buisness but a think we’ll get a young LB from a french team leaving us with less english lads

We would all like Sturridge!! The fact that he is English is biggest reason for me, i think Foreigners are great for the game but can take a while to adapt. Heard Sturridge liked the Manchester scene though….

Wohoo, linked with Ryad Boudebouz again. I’ve been shouting his name for weeks.
Seems like his price has dropped since the first time we were linked with him.
If he’s unsettled we should snatch him, and our midfield would be complete.
2 more strikers and a CB and RB next.
    Lets hope Enrique stays.

I just think that Sturridge is definately going to be on the move this summer, whether its another loan or a transfer and we have to go in for him.

I reckon Bolton could only get him on loan, Stoke could offer europa football but we could easily outbid them probably.

Spurs are a big rival but they’ve got a fair few strikers already so he might see them as a challenge to hold down a first team spot.

We are probably by far his best choice to go to. All we need now is for the fat man to crack open his wallet!

Erdinc scored 14 goals on his fist season at PSG, which is pretty good. As we all know, he scored only 8 goals last season, mainly because Koumbouare’s (PSG’s manager) strategies.

For comparison: When Asamoah Gyan played three seasons for Rennais before moving Sunderland, Gyan got 14 goals in 47 games, while Erdinc has got 22 goals in 51 games for PSG in two seasons. I don’t know what’s the problem with you? Erdinc’s goal ratio is better than Gyan’s, would you have taken Gyan to Newcastle year ago? I would have tbh. Despite that Erdinc has had quite bad year, I believe in Graham Carr. I believe in him and that he knows what is best for Newcastle. Erdinc is probably the best striker of those we have been linked with this summer, you can forget the likes of Mario Gomez etc. Of course I would be extremely happy if Sturridge signed for us, but I wouldn’t be sad if we signed Erdinc, neither sould you! He is a good striker, all he needs is some self-confidence.

Boudebouz would be an exciting signing, but Martin is the more intelligent player of the two.

He creates goals galore, and has phenomenal vision. Not much of goalscorer, but when he does find the net it tends to be special.

He is my dream signing this window. Him and Cabaye would be our Xavi and Iniesta.

get Boudebouz in quickly! he seems like playing on the right and with Lua leaving, his age n skill n pace n creativity on (right) flank will be just perfect. may take some time to fit in EPL but he can easily be our Modric! 5m for a 21 year old with No.10 shirt and such experience/record in the top flight club is almost like a bargain these days, and we defo need someone to take off some burden from our Prince HBA
