There’s a report in The Sun today that Newcastle and Liverpool are two clubs competing to sign Sochaux midfielder Ryad Boudebouz.
Ryad Boudebouz – Newcatsle and Liverpool interested
This is not the first time there has been a Newcastle link with the Algerian player this summer, as the lad has fallen out with his coach and wants to leave the French club.
News today that Liverpool’s Director of Football, Damien Comolli, tried to sign the player in January, but the Liverpool approach was rebuffed by Sochaux.
According to the Sun, a Liverpool contingent are flying to France this weekend to have further talks with Sochaux, in another bid to bring the 21 year-old to Anfield.
Boudebouz was born in Colmar, France but has elected to play for Algeria, the country of his parents, at full International level (7 caps), although that was after playing for the the French U17 and U19 sides.
The attacking midfielder has been at Sochaux since 2004, but as we said earlier, his ambition is now to leave the club for pastures anew this summer.
This is what the lad said recently:
“Things happen quickly in football. I will only say that I am no longer certain of staying put at Sochaux.”
The price on the youngster is said to be around £5M, and the Sun is reporting that it looks like Liverpool will now beat Newcastle to the player.
The Newcastle United club have a terrific name in France, and if they really want this player then presumably they will go after him, and they have already shown they can beat Liverpool to a player this summer.
That’s why Sylvain Marveaux will be wearing a black and white shirt next season and not a red one.
Ryad ha splayed 103 times for Sochaux with 18 goals, and he could be another very good acquisition for Newcastle.
