More Confusion Over N’Zogbia Moving To Newcastle

News in the local Sunday Sun today that both Newcastle and Sunderland will be stepping up their efforts to sign former Newcastle winger Charles N’Zogbia.

Charles N’Zogbia – becoming too expensive?

But the Sunday Sun is now reporting that Liverpool are now favorites to sign the winger, as owner Dave Whelan has put it out that N’Zogbia is now available for £9M, even though he has just one year left on his contract at the DW  Stadium.

N’Zogbia’s wage demands are said to be around £60K a week, and that along with the high £9M asking price,  could have Newcastle looking elsewhere to bring in another winger this summer.

But the fact is that the local Newcastle press is hardly consistent, at least when it comes to Charles N’Zogbia this summer.

Only last week it was being reported that Newcastle would be in for the player, and that his wages were not a problem – so it’s hard to know which reports to believe.

If we are to believe this report, then Liverpool are now favorites for the French International, and are ahead of both Newcastle and Sunderland, who are also interested in capturing the player.

We keep hearing from an inside source in the N’Zogbia camp saying he wants to come back to Newcastle, because he has a point to prove.

And of course he left the Magpies under a cloud after an argument with then manager Joe Kinnear, who mistakenly called him N’Somnia, but we suppose Newcastle could indeed be priced out of a move for the former Le Havre player.

We reported yesterday on Newcastle’s potential interest in Preston’s Ireland International winger, Keith Treacy, who would be a much cheaper alternative at just £1.5M and much lower wages than Charles,

But there again, Treacy is not an established Premier League player, so there’s a risk in making that move as well.

It’s hard to know what to think about the situation with Charles, with all the many different reports coming out, which are  saying different things – so what’s new?

😀

What do you think?

Mr t I don’t know where they got that from as all they did was use his quote from earlier in the week and say it meant he’s interested in signing for arsenal. He didn’t even mention arsenal though

Starting to think the NUFC name is being used by Clubs and Agents alike to drum up interest in their players, I just hope we are slipping in some good quality players under the radar.

You do realise if we dont get Zoggy but do get that Treacey lad he won’t be brought in as a first team regular.

Obviously if Zoggy came he would be, but if that other lad comes we’ve still got 3 or 4 players ahead in the pecking order that could play.

Everyones getting their knickers in a twist when the lad will be nothing more than cover and depth which we’ve all been crying out for for years!

Treacy is left-winger… Hopefully they will sign at least one right winger. Scott Sinclair, Dimitri Payet, N’Zog, Boudebouz, anyone of those!

Wigan let him roam about the midfield in a free role, would we let him do this? I think Arfa will be doing that this season and he is a lot better than Charlie. He is not a great left winger.

Journalists just speculate about everything, they rarely have any concrete information about transfers. Unless the club or the player say anything, then it’s unlikely that the information has any gravity, unless of course the players are stopping in local hotels and we get snippets of information.

I would like to think that all this talk about different players being linked with us creates a lot of confusion among the other clubs, and while they’re thinking about putting in a bid themselves it leaves us to do the real transfer work that no-one is aware of. Therefore we could be getting some good deals going on out of the public auctioning house that is the press!

    Mr T,
    Gervinho is better than Walcott
    Matuidi better than Song
I dont think Walcott will be at Arsenal long, this is make or break season for him, just hasn’t progressed like they thought.

Hopefully NUFC are interested in Moussa Sissoko.
If I had to choose between Matuidi & Sissoko, I would buy Sissoko. I think we don’t need Matuidi as we have Tioté, but Sissoko&Tiote would be class.
Sissoko will be star, at least in FM11. 😀

So Mevlut Erdinc’s price probably is 6,5 mln. Not too bad. I think he is a decent player, 15 goals in 2009-2010 tells it. However, I think that Ba will be the 1st choice if we play 4-2-3-1.

    @mr.T…iote
If we were to use that style of play I would be a very happy man, Imagine our new look, pacy, creative midfield, constantly switching positions, dragging defenders all over the place, there would be spaces opening up all over the final third of the pitch. I think Nzog should be the final piece of the midfield puzzle!

Is anybody else getting a bit concerned about fatboy not going to spend the money?,why hasn’t this deal happened,we know he wants to come back,we know his asking price and we know how much he wants a week, what’s the problem?,there’s players out there to be signed,Zoggy,Sturridge,Barnetta, why are we dragging our feet?wouldn’t it make sense to try and get the deals done and dusted early because we face competition for our targets from teams in Europe.we’ve spent 1 million on 3 players,do you think he’s going to spend 35m on the other signings we need?,as you can tell i’m slightly freaking out

    @MrMojoRisin76

We’ve spent at least £5m… That was Cabaye’s price. It’s very early in the transfer window, and it’s amazing that we’ve signed ANYONE so far – Newcastle have never been quick to move in transfer windows.

We will spend some money eventually, even if it isn’t as much as people would like (Erding, Barnetta, possibly Matuidi and N’Zogbia…).

Complaining about it on a blog isn’t going to speed up the process.

MykToonFan,we got 4m-4.5m from West Ham for Nolan and we bought Cabaye for 4.3m,so we haven’t really spent anything. Can you explain why this deal hasn’t happened then after what i said?,and Pardew said all that £35m would be spent,or was that another classic Pardew lie,and if you read my post properly you’d know i wasn’t complaining,i was asking if anybody else is concerned about what is happening with the transfer money.

How can ANYONE be seriously dissapointed with the transfer window thus far, which hasn’t even officially opened yet?!

Jees. Last transfer window, now there was a window to complain about.

It’s not about the magic £35m, if they can get 5-6 quality players in for £15m I’m more than happy with that. Why would a businesman spend more than he has to just cause he has it? Errr….no.

Have a little ……. patience (grins)

Spuggy,i’m over the moon with the business we’ve done so far, class signings, but Pardew said we could bring in up to 6 players during the transfer window,we’ve already signed 3 for roughly a mil, what i’m concerned about is that i don’t think he will spend the 35m(we were told was going to be re-invested on the squad)on 3 more signings.Like i said what’s happening with the N’Zogbia deal?,9m fee,£60k a week,90% of the fans want him back. And we should technically have more than 35m to spend,we got that money from the Carroll sale,we should have a summer transfer budget on top of that,i think the thing is i just don’t trust Ashley at all and that’s fuelling my paranoia, but i will follow your advice, going to get me some of that patience stuff.
