Norwich Bid £2M For Newcastle Goalkeeper

Fraser Forster is certainly in demand these days, and there’s a report in The Sun today that Norwich will offer Newcastle £2M for their number three goalkeeper.

Fraser Forster – goalkeeper in great demand

With Norwich in the Premier League next season, and if if the deal is made, it could give Fraser a chance to be playing in the top English League.

Only on Saturday did Celtic come in with a bid of £1.5M for the 6’7″ goalkeeper, who was on loan at Celtic last season, but it was turned down immediately, and we expect this bid to also be turned down quickly.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon said he would be back with an improved offer, but both clubs, at which Fraser has been on loan these last couple of seasons, may have to increase their bids, if they want to persuade Newcastle to sell.

Forster was a top performer for Norwich the season before last, when the East Anglia club were promoted from League One, and they were also promoted last season from the Championship to the Premier League, while Forster was at Celtic.

We’ll have to wait and see what Newcastle want to do with their 23 year-old goalkeeper,  but it’s clear this lad has greatly impressed his two former loan clubs, and it could be that an offer of £3M may tempt Newcastle to sell.

What do you think?

allow him to leave on loan for the season, we can then see if he’s up to the mark in the premier league

Be a shame to see him go, I’d have thought another loan deal would have been better.

To be honest neither Foster nor Krul are going to be happy being second fiddle to the other, so losing one eventually is inevitable. Foster has two or three years left so another loan to Norwich for a season is the obvious choice for me. Let Krul and Harper fight it out this season and then make the decision next year. Harper is a unique situation, class keeper who didn’t want to leave, the you guns won’t do that. Either one will permanently leave and Harper might just be willing to stick for another fess years as number 2 again, playing up to 39’ish.

I love sweet peanuts. Lovely. In the shape of a peanut still in a shell with a lovely buttery taste and when you get to the middle there are little peanutty bits

I watched forster a few times last season for Celtic, he’s a great shot stopper, but seems slow in going to ground, Krul has to be our number 1 next season with harper as back up, anyone know if Ole Soderberg is any good, never seen him myself

Reckon fotster is a good keeper and from what ive seen he wont be more than that. Whereas in a few more years wheb krul irons out a few weaknesses he will be a top top keeper. Invest the playing time in krul i day.

Hate to go dutch over the local lad but hey.

  • I think we have to give Krul the No. 1 otherwise he’ll be away during or after pre-season.

Ah, widdymet, his name’s Forster not Foster – I see far too many people incorrectly spell it. And, a season at Norwich on loan is perfect, but say they have to pay a £1,000,000 fee or £500,000, or whatever it may be for the privilege of having him for the season. Win-win for us.

there’s a reason why no premier league has made a bid or want him on loan. seen him at celtic and Krul is better. Sell him for 3million hopefullly.
