News today that Liverpool manager is turning his attention to Manchester City left back Wayne Bridge.
Jose Enrique – which clubs are still interested?
Bridge is a decent player but has had a hard time of it getting first team games at Manchester City since he signed in January of 2009, and has also suffered many injuries while at Eastlands.
But he showed at West Ham that when he gets a decent run in a side, he’s still a good player, and it seems that Liverpool are now targeting the 35 times capped England International for their vacant left-back spot.
Liverpool were once after Jose Enrique, and then they went after Arsenal’s Gail Clichy, and may still be in for the French International should Clichy elect to leave the Emirates Stadium.
And of course there was news over the weekend that if Clichy does leave Arsenal, then manager Arsene Wenger may be interested in Jose Enrique, but there are still a few shoes to fall before we’ll know which – if any – clubs still remain interested in Enrique.
Of course one thing Newcastle do not want is for Enrique to be at Newcatsle come September but still refuse to sign a new deal at the club, which would allow Jose to become a free agent next summer, and he could leave for nothing.
Of course that’s also his legal right.
Our view on Jose is that if he wants to leave Newcastle he should, and he’s been a good and loyal player for four years at Newcastle, but it would also be good to get some money for him = to help bring in a replacement.
Comments welcome.

Agreed mate at least sturridge is proven in the premiership…Wickham’s good but its a quicker pace in the prem than the championship….i mean at times lovenkrands looks worldclass against some team when we were down there!!
Maybe worldclass was the wrong word hahaha

Comment #47Man Utd also interested in Izagurre now, and we prob lose race for MOusaSossoko – chased by Lp, Ars, City and Chelsea…
That leaves Matuidi, and if that fails, Gibson.
However: Paris St Germain have made an audacious attempt to sign QPR skipper Adel Taarabt for 10m.
If PSG get Taarabt for 10m, surely they’ll be happy to get 7m from us for spare man Erding?

Yeah true but if he wants to go that’s fine. He is good but not great. We don’t want him to leave but if he goes he is replaceable.

If your assuming that then you should also assume we are going to get Naylor, MBergue, Gervinho, Gameiro and everyone else we have been linked with

Comment #50From what I read Man Utd WERE interested in Emilo before Evra signed a new deal since then they haven’t been back. They now have Evra and Fabio for LBs so they won’t be after another one

Izagurre aint moving.
Sissoko is too expensive and is leaning more to Liverpoo.
I think the Erdinc deal is hinging on the Taarabt deal tbh.

Three at the back?
Perhaps you should stick to kickboxing?

Comment #54We should assume the players who have a better chance of joining us. That’s common sense come on! Gameiro has joined PSG in case you missed the news

Right then. You should assume we will have signed Gervinho, MBurger, Naylor, Gibson, Gardner, Erding, Ryad lad, Long, Adams, N’zogbia, Barnetta and Gomez etc etc etc
Also can you name me a team who plays with 3 at the back? (Going back to the origional issue)

Comment #57Could see this in sept:
Harper
Simpson – Saylor – Colo – Enrq
Ben Arfa – Cabaye- Tiote – Marveaux
Ba – Erding
Subs- Willo, Gibson, Barton, Long, Jonas, Gosling – Abeid, Taverner, Ferguson, Vuckick, Krul
Out- Gutherie 3m Birm, Ranger 1.5m, Best 2/3m, McLoven 1m. Raylor 1.5m…..
IN extra on top of Gibson/Long/Erding, which could complete in next couple days!- another striker (sturridge), Cb and Rb – youth?

Comment #58If Gibson is replacing Barton we are doomed for Relegation.
I hope its not true 🙁
The only reason they would go for Gibson is he would be cheaper than Matuidi and Sissoko.
Which isnt what we want to see its not like our bank is empty with still have the money from TV rights which Norwich has pushed to trasnfers, and most clubs do.
and the 35M.

Comment #59What’s wrong with my assumption when I see a lot of people here putting the likes of Sturridge, N’zogbia, Menez etc in their teams? Then you must have argued with people here everyday right? Germany used to play 3 at the back and was successful. SO why don’t we adapt? Do we need to stick with 4 at the back all the time?

Comment #61Good luck to Enrique in whatever he decides to do. I can’t be ar5ed to care about it anymore. He can be replaced, albeit by somebody at an earlier stage in their development.
Chuck – Where did ThaiMag express an interest in kick boxing?

Comment #62Why not use the £5m they seem to be bidding for an average Gibson and secure enrique and Barton who are both known quality players……….Am I missing something here or would that be too much like common sense??

I pretty much do haha
Germany is a country as a pretty big pot to pick players from. They also have a history of very good defenders
We are a club with pretty poor defensive history and a rather average current backline. Saylor Collo and Willo would ship huge amounts of goals

Comment #64Newcastle have denied reports linking them with a double swoop for Greek striker Moussaka and Italian striker Raviolli. While there is speculation that they are preparing a double bid for Indian team mates Rogan Josh and Naan Bread and sources from inside the club say reports they are after Sunderland’s Cabbage Surprise are wide of the mark.

Comment #67I would personally love to see this as our starting 11
GK: Krul
DEF: Walker…Taylor…Collo…Enrique
DEF MID: Tiote
MID: Boudabouz…Cabaye…Zog
CAM: Ben Arfa
CF: Ba
Enrique and N’zogbia down the left would be IMMENSE both know how to attack and can both track back if needs be
