Newcastle Launch New Bid For Charles N’Zogbia

Potentially very good new coming through that Newcastle have lodged a new bid for former winger Charles N’Zogbia.

Charles N’Zogbia – wants to return to Newcastle United

The local Evening Chronicle is reporting it believes Newcastle are in the hunt for French International winger Charles N’Zogbia, who is said to be very keen to rejoin his former club.

And Sources close to the Frenchman are saying that Sunderland are struggling to put together a package to get the player Frenchman to Wearside – which is more good news.

😀

Charles is again being reported to be wanting to return to his former club, and with French speaking Demba Ba, Sylvain Marveaux and Yohan Cabaye having just been signed, it will be even more good reason for N’Zogbia to return to Tyneside.

Aston Villa are also being linked with an interest in the Wigan winger, but if this news is true, it would appear Newcastle are in the lead to sign the twice capped French International.

There were reports recently that Newcastle were thinking the Frenchman would be too expensive with say £9M in transfer fees, and £60K/week in wages, so this would be good news that Newcastle are perhaps ready to spend some of their money this summer.

Charles played 158 times for Newcastle from September, 2004 through January, 2009 when he was sold to Wigan for £6M plus Ryan Taylor coming the other way, and he also scored 9 goals for the Magpies.

While N’Zogbia was a problem over th last 18 months of his time at Newcastle we still think this signing would be a good one for Newcastle fans, because he looks to have got better while at Wigan, and anybody who wants to come back to Tyneside cannot be all bad, surely.

And here’s a recent poll we published on June 7th asking Newcastle fans about Charles coming back to Newcastle, and at the time the price was said to be £12M, but it’s now likely to be at least £3M less than that:

Is Charles N'Zogbia Worth £12M to Newcastle?

Not good news to me – I don’t like him.
He has the skill but his game depends so much on attitude and I don’t trust him.

Would be nice to have him I like Zog personally

So far today am rather happy how the news has been. Martinez is interesting option. Naylor seems to be down to legal action now. Not to bothered about Sturridge in all honesty we were never really linked with him (other than by fans) and NUFC lie to papers all the time.

Yes he’s worth 12mil. We are going to have to accept the realities of the market at some point. Spend some fooooook’n dosh fat man and stop hovering around the treatment tables and bargain bins for knock down goods.

Ooooh this should keep the doom mongers quiet for abit……. Oooooh where linked with a player where gonna spend money(sarcasim). I would love to see him back and i love reading the gossip of who we are linked with but i take it all with a pinch of salt and dont get too bothered by us not buying a player for a week or so when we have another 8 weeks to go. If the papers got it right everytime we would have a squad of 75 and still growing

I agree with whoever said we should also bring in some english talent… since the spine of the team looks to be dwindling with carroll, nolan gone – harper and barton uncertain of a place. There are players out there n’all – OK they cost but we do have the money to invest in chamberlain or puncheon, etc.

Still gutted we didn’t even bid for Wickham – a fraction of the Carroll money and the potential to take over his place in less than a year.

@Boom Boom: Might want to get some after sun on that, alternatively a bit of honey and lemon, let it marinate for about an hour and then you’ll be flying.

The problem with the English market is that it is over-inflated so you get very little quality for the price you pay so unless you’re bringing English players through your youth system it’s very expensive to sign English players. That’s why we have this scouting system set up in Europe because you get a lot more quality for the price you pay for a player on the continent.

I take Wickham as an example. 15 goals in over 70 appearances in the Championship. Ok hes young but to pay £13m for him is ridiculous for one so young just like paying £20m for Henderson was and £35m for Carroll was.

A much better way to do those types of deals is to include a % of next sale in the transfer and sign him for like £5-6m. That way if he does become good and Man Utd come hunting, sell him for £30m and Ipswich wont lose out either.

Keep reading ‘doom mongers’!?! Have we all forgotten that last day of the january transfer market? Or how much the club have promised to invest. Or that we sold our captain and main source of goals without blinking an eyelid.

Anyone who isn’t highly sceptical of the owner’s player recruitment/ transfer window activity is seriously lacking in reason or perspective.

    Sorry for all the posts.

£13m for Wickham or £13m in transfer fees for Ben Arfa (£5m), Tiote (£3.5m), Ba(Free), Marveaux(Free), Cabaye(£4.5m). I know which option I’d take.

KK, although a disgruntled employee said we would not see the 35 mil. I dont think we will see a marquee signing but not one of you on here knows what is going on behind closed doors, you just play FM11 and hope for all the wonderkids to come to us, we who are not in europe, not minted and have underacheived in years.

Realism, economic scruples and patience are what is required. Cheik Tiote is the prime example of how we are making progress, if we sign Makiosyt Hasfetywhu from Njahuewysh for 1m and he rattles in 15 this season, hang your heads girls.

BiffBaffBoff – Trust me, I do get the english talent Vs outsourcing from overseas debate. There is a danger that constant references to the (outlying) transfers of Carroll and Henderson signings – will proclude any talk of english deals whatsoever. They’re not really typical though – e.g. downing, young – are valued less even though they are full, to some extent proven international players.

Look at Hughton – he brought in Willo, Simpson, Best (irish ok), who have all been successful – on relative peanuts.

I think the 12mil on wickham makes sense.. he is a crowd pleasing- type player who will sell shirts and season tickets, a sound long-term investment, regardless of goals tally so far- which will improve, as he is very young.

He’s moving to a team that absolutely tortures there young players. Henderson was getting absolutely hammered by them earlier on in the season and said they contributed to his drop in form.
