News from talkSPORT that possible Newcastle target Romaric looks set to leave his club, Sevilla, this summer.
Christian Koffi Ndri – available at a cut price
The news is predicated on the fact that Romaric has been left out pf Sevilla’s pre-season tour of Costa Rica.
The Spanish side have two friendlies in the north American country in July, but it is unlikely the midfielder will be part of the squad on that trip.
One reason we’re not sure if the player is really a Newcastle target, is that he’s just turned 28, which is a little old for players Newcastle are after this summer.
But he is very versatile in positions he can play in, and he can play in defense or in midfield, and we know Alan Pardew is after a few versatile players this summer.
Romaric had a move to Turkish club Trabzonspor in the Süper Lig fall through earlier this summer, but why Newcastle are being linked with the player, we’re still not sure, and this is not the first time there has been a Newcastle link either.
The Spanish media are reporting there are no current offers for the Ivory Coast international (38 caps , 5 goals), who was a January target of relegated West Ham United.
Spanish sources believe he will need to move this summer, because he is simply not part of manager Marcelino Garcia Toral’s plans for Sevilla, going forward.
Romaric signed a five year deal when he signed for Sevilla from Le Mans in June of 2008, and the transfer fee was believed to be around €8M, which is about £7.2M in todays currency rates.
It seems clear that Romaric is indeed available in a cut price deal, and maybe that would interest Newcastle, but we think his age may kill any deal to bring him to Tyneside.
