Newcastle Reported Interest In Ivory Coast Midfielder

News from talkSPORT that possible Newcastle target Romaric looks set to leave his club, Sevilla, this summer.

Christian Koffi Ndri – available at a cut price

The news is predicated on the fact that Romaric has been left out pf Sevilla’s pre-season tour of Costa Rica.

The Spanish side have two friendlies in the north American country in July, but it is unlikely the midfielder will be part of the squad on that trip.

One reason we’re not sure if the player is really a Newcastle target, is that he’s just turned 28, which is a little old for players Newcastle are after this summer.

But he is very versatile in positions he can play in, and he can play in defense or in midfield, and we know Alan Pardew is after a few versatile players this summer.

Romaric had a move to Turkish club Trabzonspor in the Süper Lig fall through earlier this summer, but why Newcastle are being linked with the player, we’re still not sure, and this is not the first time there has been a Newcastle link either.

The Spanish media are reporting there are no current offers for the Ivory Coast international (38 caps , 5 goals), who was a January target of relegated West Ham United.

Spanish sources believe he will need to move this summer, because he is simply not part of manager Marcelino Garcia Toral’s plans for Sevilla, going forward.

Romaric signed a  five year deal when he signed for Sevilla from Le Mans in June of 2008, and the transfer fee was believed to be around €8M, which is about £7.2M in todays currency rates.

It seems clear that Romaric is indeed available in  a cut price deal, and maybe that would interest Newcastle, but we think his age may kill any deal to bring him to Tyneside.

What do you think?

A definite no go, purely based on Ashley’s transfer method. Does not fit the bill.
Riska – I’m in the same boat, was all excited bout him coming, no news since…

No for Romaric. Now it is down to strikers and defense men.

I think AP needs to keep around some healthy bodies. Ranger is the only young striker without a serious injury in his past, or a tendency to be injured. With the likelihood of some of the new guys suffering reoccurances of old wounds, NUFC will need some OK and generally healthy players to step in and carry the load.

by the fact he’s 28 means its a no go, just more lazy reporting by people who are clueless as to what is going on at SJP, we have a model to build upon and 28 year olds do not figure

    @ross armstrong

    +1

We are linked with that 19 YO guy in League One, and Erdinc, not sure if both are the answers we need.

I hope we move for Seydou we got the money.

We need players who will score as next season if Ba doesnt score alot we with be relying on Jonas (hardly scores) Ben Arfa (Unknown, may score abit but not sure how the leg will make him play ) Merveaux (Too many injuries but can score) Tiote (Not really his game) Barton (Doesnt score much either, he assists alot more)

So apart from Ba getting goals from other areas ATM dont look to strong OR are just unknowns could get lots or could get no goals at all.

NZog will increase the goal difference tho, but if Zog comes in Jonas will be out i reckon 🙁

    Its probs bull but

“Barton to be offered new #nufc contract seems Ashley prepared to back down, Pardew wants him as captain”

Thats a VERY bold tweet, him being captain OVER Colo and Taylor and they he is signing a new contract!

The thing is nobody is ITK anymore those days ended with the old regime, it’s a closed shop now. The only way anyone hears anything before SSN or .co.uk is because the player is spotted in Newcastle. It is a painful wait but it is the way things are now. Deep breath people. What will be will be.
