Joey Barton Now Expecting To Leave Newcastle

The Daily Express is reporting today that Joey Barton thinks he is about to leave Newcastle.

Joey Barton – likely to leave Newcastle

The report suggests that Joey Barton has told his followers on that Twitter account of his, that he thinks Newcastle will “wash their hands of him.”

While Joey says he is not in any discussion with any other clubs, the chances of Newcastle opening talks on a new contract with him, are “slim to none.”

We think that’s an accurate assessment of the situation.

While we don’t know what’s actually happening inside the club, you could hazard a guess that the Newcastle hierarchy were less than happy with Joey’s tweets, following the departure of Kevin Nolan to West Ham a week or so ago.

Joey is getting himself into trouble with that Twitter account of his, and it’s just far to easy to react and tweet something you almost immediately regret – but it’s already out there – even if you delete it, and the gossip press just love it.

Twitter is like manna from heaven for the gossip press, and what are tweets other than gossip, in any case?

If we were to try to read the tea leaves – the club have already decided to try to move him out this summer, and probably it would take as little as a a £3M offer from another club to do that.

Now whether Joey will accept the deal is another matter, but it will be made clear to him that he isn’t particularly wanted – at least by the hierarchy on Tyneside – but there again Joey could still dig in his heels, so to speak.

One thing that had surprised us this summer, is that we never thought the club would be without Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton come September, but we think that’s looking more and more likely to happen.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Joey Barton should delete his twitter account … he’s making a right melon of himself. Too emotional … too unprofessional.

Why is everyone against him having Twitter? Everything that he’s said has been pretty much spot on and it’s a forum for him to voice his true opinions, long may it continue.

Surely they can’t be so stupid to get rid or Nolan AND Barton…..

It’s refreshing to see that the Express seems to have dropped its obsession with Princess Di and have turned to Joey for stories!

    On another note…..

Well off topic but Liverpool are becoming like a running sore – everybody but evrybody we’re reportedly linked with, that name crops up!!!–

But, instead of reporting our interest in players, I’d much rather see news of deals being done!!

I have left this site alone for about a week hoping to return to good news !!!!!!! Barton I feel will not play much next season as both Ashley and Pardew seem to dislike him ( shame really as he is a good player – not a great one) Two young forwards with a big future Wickham and Sturridge are not coming here- never mind still a long way to go until kick off.
Happy with who we have brought in,optimistic Enrique may stay however we need a top striker and a little more strength in depth. Whether we spend a lot of cash or we bring in more freebies i do not care as long as they improve the squad however lets bring more in!
    Keep the Faith

yeah barton is only saying his opinion, but players are paid alot of money to act professional, he may be on his way out of our club, but he must realise that his comments on twitter are going to seriously effect which club comes in for him now or at the end of the season.

you might give him a pat on the back for being honest but where will that get him as a footballer

Barton is entitled to his opinions and express them. Granted he has to be careful what he is saying. There was someone stating that he would be offered a new contract yesterday. He basically said he wouldn’t be. Not a mention of leaving at all.

OK chaps. Lets try an experiment here. Go into work tomorrow, and broadcast to EVERYONE, that your boss is an oaf, a plonker and greedy fat an assh*le. Lets see what happens shall we. Joey man, give your head a shake, lose the Tw*tter acccount and let your booots do the talking on the pitch just like you did last season. You dont need to self publicise, just perform every week.

As for Barton, hope he stays and has a good season so the board changes their minds. He´s a very good player!

I guess many of you would slag off your bosses/employers consistently knowing full well they would get wind of it huh? … just to placate your conscience? No one would be so foolish.

Please, he has been out of order & that’s no way for a professional to conduct one’s self. There are certain things you can & cannot say, it’s part of being an adult & a professional. Write a book when it’s all said and done Joseph, rather.

I really hope Barton stays, even if it is just to see out his contract next year. Great player and motivator. We need him to be our midfield general as you cannot guarantee that our foreign imports will adjust to the premier league straight away. Look at other players that came from lesser leagues and took time to adjust. Even Colo took time to adjust and he was playing in La Liga.

Following in the antics of Blackpools hilarious aeronautical japes at nearby Preston on the last day of teh season, and Millwalls fans folowing suit at West Hams final game, Joey Barton has just hired a low flying cessna dragging the words behind it. It reads ‘Mike Ashley is a Knob. I DARE you to try and sell me’. Oh how Joey laughed all the way to the jobcentre………….

All he said was he hasn’t been offered a contract. He was reacting to some man utd fan who is a wannabe journo.

But (as always on these sites and the newspapers) he says something like “slim to none” (which was in reference to the question “what are the chances of you joining Nolan at West Ham”) and that’s it, he’s leaving.

He also called CWarr a bullsh*tter

The problem I have with Barton exercising his right to free speech/express his opinion is that we’re trying to sell Newcastle United to prospective signings. Suck malcontent could be the difference between a player signing for us and opting for Liverpool.

The man’s a dick. He has his opinion and he wants the whole world to know it. In my OPINION he should shut the f*!k up. That is all.

I’m afraid Joey is unprofessional with his twitter account.

Coupled with his history and high wage demands and the length of contract he wants nobody will come in for him. So we’ll get another year out of him.

This could be good news if he behaves or a disater if he doesn’t!

Sav – Hmmmm let’s see. There was that thing outside that MacDonalds that time, the thing where he went to prison for the thing outside MacDonalds and refused to take a paycut, the thing where he got banned for six matches for beating up a team mate at the club before he joined us, then there was that time he got sent off when we were playing at Liverpool and, after the match, told the then manager, Alan Shearer, that he was the best player in the team and that Shearer was a sh1t manager with sh1t tactics. Of course, he hasn’t behaved like this the whole time he’s been here; he’s been injured quite a lot as well. Aside from punching another team’s player and slagging of the England squad, whilst proclaiming that he is the best English midfielder playing in the premier league, last season was a good solid season from Barton. Shame it’s the first one he’s had in the four years he’s been here.

The knives were out for Barton before Nolan was sold and before Barton started tweeting his opinions about his employers. If you didn’t know why before, hopefully the above will give you some incling. He’s a liability.

he might be a tw@t, but he’s OUR Tw@t. At least he shows passion and wants to be here. Thats a plus, given the shameful wage stealing from the like os Duff, Owen Martins and Viduka. thanks to the likes of Barton, Nolan, and (it has to be said) Smith, we are a million miles away from those dark days.

Yes I get all that but its a massive over reaction to a none story. I dont feel the need to dredge up the past.
He is a footballer and not a role model he has cleaned up his act so whats the biggie with the twitter thing.
too much reactionary knicker wetting on here over the last few months so I have refrained from posting.
Role on the start of the season when the close season bloggers all go back to watching games online !!

I don’t have a problem with Joey saying how he feels but he’s just giving the board an excuse to oust him, like Nolan gave them an excuse by not accepting a new contract. He ain’t doing himself any favours…I don’t think he wants to leave, I just don’t think he’s that bright.

I find it so hard to swallow that some of you on here are so hypocritical re Joey Bartoon.
Mid season when he WAS the best English midfielder in the league, you were all screaming to get him signed up on a longterm contract.

Now he’s greedy because he’s actually offered to take a pay cut .
He’s a criminal…served his time for his crime
and he was osama bin ladens right hand man, or he might aswell have been the way some of you lot go on!!

At the end of the day, he is the best proven player at the club!!

And he has never ever slagged off his boss, read his tweets. He said they as in the BUSINESS are trying to push him out!! No crime in that, or should he be locked up again for telling it how it is???

It’s not a massive over reaction … it a reaction to a player who is fully aware that the media will put focus on his comments. He knew all this when he discussed the club on twitter, he’s ugly enough to know all of this yet that didn’t stop him.

It’s not asking a lot for a player to keep his head down & just get on with it. He feels he needs to constantly air NUFC laundry – it’s just unnecessary and easily avoidable. He’s not bigger than the club.
