The news that Newcastle have put in a €7.5M offer for Paris Saint-Germain striker Mevlut Erding, seems to be gaining some momentum.
Mevlut Erdinc – on his way to Newcastle?
Radio station RMC is now reporting this news, although the 7.5M is in euros, which converts to around £6.7M.
Newcastle have been interested in the Turkish striker for several weeks now, and the news is that Erdinc is keen to play in the Premier League, and is thought to be keen to move to Newcastle United.
However, all of PSG’s transfer decisions will now be held up until Leonardo, who managed Inter Milan last season, is officially appointed as the new Paris Saint Germaine Sporting Director, and that is expected to happen this coming Wednesday.
So at the very earliest, we could hear something later this week, but we are still hoping that Newcastle can get Erdinc through the door, possibly before the end of the coming week.
Erdinc has played 70 times for PSG with 28 goals scored since he signed a four year deal for the Paris-based club in June of 2009, and previously played 84 times at Sochaux with 25 goals.
The 10 times capped Turkish International striker, has a club record of scoring one goal in every 3 games played.
We think Erdinc, who is a very skilful forward, would be a very good signing for the Magpies.
What do you think?
