Newcastle To Host Italian Club Fiorentina In August

Newcastle United have announced they will play a friendly with Serie A team Fiorentina on Saturday 6th August at St. James’ Park with a 3:00 pm kick off.

That’s the weekend before the Premier lague kicks off on the following Saturday when Newcastle will entertain Arsenal at St. James’ Park.

Fiorentina are located in Florence, Tuscany and founded by a merger back in 1926,

And Fiorentina have played at the top level of Italian football for the majority of their existence, and only four clubs have played in more Serie A seasons than the Tuscany-based club.

They are currently managed by Serbian Sinisa Mihajlovic, and finished 9th in Serie A last season.

Newcastle and Fiorentina have met only once previously, in the Final of the 1973 Anglo Italian Cup competition that Newcastle won won 2 -1.

The are nicknamed ‘Viola’, which is a reference to their distinctive purple strip, and they have twice won the Italian Championship and won the European Cup Winners Cup back in 1961.

The club is reporting that ticket details will be announced shortly.

It will be great to welcome Fiorentina to St. James’ Park next month.

Gives us a chance to play good quality oposition and will be a good test for the new guys. Gorkino i wouldn’t say so. Matches are probably more better to get used to new style of play than training sessions, puts it into a somewhat competitive fixture

Just find it strange having the biggest pre season game a week before Arsenal :p

Or could be a last chance for the Youth/Reserve to make an impact and give Pards food for thought.

It gives them a chance to use new style of play/tactic/formation against a top side and it gives us the chance to do it when the players look pretty sharp so AP can get an accurate reflection on how different things work

Reports suggest that Erdinç would favour a move to #LOSC rather than #NUFC if he was to leave. Up to #NUFC to give an offer he can’t refuse.

  • Honestly, Burnsie your caps lock is more annoying then Off topic chat (Ganiyu) or supposed Doom mongering (Gorskin). If you dont like what their comment is about, just skip it. You dont have to read the whole comment. On the other hand, Your caps lock is right there, staring into the darkest parts of my soul. I cant ignore them!.

Since its obviously that time of the month for you, Ill forgive you this time..

To be honest, I couldn’t give a damn if Enrique leaves. I can’t stand it when players no longer want to play for their team.

    I give a damm Magpies-till-d3ath@

Because of the faith we showed him and that its took him a few years to become a great LB, if we buy a replacement they will probs be worse, or ALOT worse in terms if its Bridge and Warnock, NTaylor etc..
BUT if we get a very good LB like MBeagaue or someone strong and powerful yet quick and get good money for Jose who could go for nothing i will be happy.

On the other hand this is great news for us don’t want the boys to get complacent now do we. having them a week fresh is good beats them only doing light training right up to the kick off on the 13th.

Another outburst like your on on Twitter, the thing is EVERYTHING which is posted is either official fact or opinion, what i posted was MY OPINION if you dont like it then dont respond, saying im a Dim Whit is your OPINION and your entitled to that, but just ranting on with misinformed information is just something i expect from you.

Thing is when you rant like this it makes you just look beyond stupid and tbh but hey this is my opinion.

Also where is the DOOM AND GLOOM post, every comment in this page by me has a bit of both, YOU NEED to state both scenarios, i stated it could be bad playing a big game week before because of injuries that could happen or them being tired for 1st game.

BUT i stated it as a posistive saying it could be good for the Youth etc.. to make a last impression on Pards.

Please next time read before you rant

In all fairness if a player can’t recover properly from a friendly within a week they are in the wrong game. They’re all athletes now so they’ll not be suffering from fatigue a week after.
