Newcastle’s players return to pre-season training today, after a short six weeks off since they played their last game of the seaosn against WBA on May 22nd.
Alan Pardew – planned program includes lots of football
It’s very important the players do get that six weeks break, because they will now be playing thought the end of May next year – so football is almost becoming a year long sport.
Alan Pardew and the coaches have prepared a day by day training schedule to ease the players back to full fitness, before they embark on their American tour in a couple of weeks.
This is what Alan had to say about the pre-season training:
“Pre-season is a planned program which will involve the balls and a lot of football,” “It will all be designed to gear ourselves up for that first competitive 11-a-side against Arsenal in six weeks time.”
“I can’t wait. I’m sure the Newcastle fans will be bored of the cricket and tennis by now, and will be desperate for us to get back into action and show them our new wares.”
“If they can’t get out to America for our pre-season tour – where it would be nice to see them – then I look forward to seeing them at the games over here.”
The four new players Newcastle have acquired this summer so far – Sylvain Marveaux, Demba Ba, Yohan Cabaye and 18 year-old Mehdi Abeid, will all be meeting their new team-mates this morning, and we all await the first pictures coming out today, as the lads resume their training.
