Just to take a pulse on how our readers think the transfer market is going we’ll take a poll.
Alan Pardew – more players will come in
Alan Pardew is right when he says judge the transfer window should be judged when the window actually closes.
We have to remember that most transfer business takes place in August and in that last week too, and a lot of deals occur on the very last day in August too.
So bear that in mind.
As a reminder this is what Newcastle have done so far this summer:
OUT:
Sol Campbell
Shefki Kuqi
Kevin Nolan – £4.5M – West Ham
IN:
Yohan Cabaye – £4.5M – Lille
Demba Ba – free agent – West Ham
Sylvain Marveaux – free agent – Rennes
Mehdi Abeid – free agent – Lens
There’s one vote per reader:
And a nice win by the England Women side, who beat Japan 2-0 and they win their group – not too bad at all.

Comment #87Wwjjb – could work but I reckon Villa would be willing to part with more money than us. Ashley won’t like that zog is on a free next year and would probably rather wait for him or try again in Jan. In an ideal world we would offer them 5-6 million and a few squad players that aren’t good enough to try and tempt them. Zog kept wigan up and was always a favourite player of mine when he was at the toon.

As i’ve seen, there was a roaring argument (can we say that in english?) about Erding, this afternoon on the blog.
Did you hear the Coentrao story? This mendez is a real vulture, now than he have manged to take control of Real’s money, thanks to Mourinho he will drink all Madrid’s blood.

Comment #90MacToon – I wont do, people on twitter were saying that it had always been “club” not on players. Beggars belief really.
The fact is why is transfer money, going on the Training ground, really, as NUFC.com have put it, there is income to cover this surely. It is beyond a joke, I just want to see the back of him.

Maybe but you never know how much these clubs actually have to play with in the trnsfer market and I doubt they will want to splash too much cash around. I would say 8-10 mill for him is what they will be after. If he is a target then we will be willing to pay that much as well (if we are being realistic) so you never know it might happen
Just my opinion on the game we are playing with Wigan I could be way off the mark though…Zog could be a smokescreen

Comment #97Indeed JohnnyBrookes, if we forget about the Carroll money for a moment……..
Ashley has worked hard to reduce outgoings such as wages, especially when we were relegated but now back in the prem, Sky money, attendance money, merchandise etc. and reduced overheads AND THEY ARE TRYING TO TELL ME THAT BUSINESS IS DONE BAR ONE OR TWO…….. it’s boling my P and the funny thing is there are plenty here who believe it all like they are trustworthy guys running our club and like they have a history of reliability….. bleedin con men the lot of them!

Comment #98Exactly Richyg… ”are you happy with transfers so far”
The words ‘so far’ make you look at where we are at now and where we hope to be at the end of the window so it is inevitable our revenue and the Carroll money will come in to it when talking about transfers.
Was you hoping for simple yes and no answers because your asking a bit much if so.

Comment #99I’m happy so far but like everyone keeps saying we need another top striker and a half decent striker for backup, because knowing our luck we’ll get to december and one of our new strikers will have been injured. I also think we need to sort out that age old achillies
heel of ours the defence, because we dropd way too many points in the last 15 minutes of last season. there was a few matches where we where wining 1 nill and then let a late goal in resulting in a two point drop. I know there was quite a few matchs where we defended well, like against man u towards the end of the season but I would still love to see our defence strengthend because if you ask me that has allways been our worst enemy !

Comment #100I don’t want to break your morale, but erding is Known to be a fine guy.
I don’t see him lying like that. For me, he’s damn serious, he want to stay in Paris and he will hang to that even if it’s difficult for him. Further more, Parsi didn’t have problem of money now. So they don’t need to sell him.
Well, i can be wrong on erding, but if this is some comedy, it would be very disapointing. So, sign him in these conditions…

Comment #103Mactoon – I know, I have to get off the blogs and that sometimes because I get too wound up with the stuff people come out with. The undersoil heating thing is beyond a joke. So what they are saying is we would not have been able to afford that without selling AC!! Its honestly complete rubbish, it baffles me that people swallow it. I guess thats why they continually shove our noses in it.

Comment #105This will be my first and final post on the Any Carroll money saga.
I think a lot of you have short memories. 2 seasons ago we were in the Championship and if you take a look at the clubs accounts from that period, we made an operating loss of around £35m (This excludes the money Ashley was loaning us just so we could pay the wages etc.. every month and survive financially). Now I know some of you will probably come out with “Ashley was the reason we were in the championship in the first place”. Well maybe he had a small part in that but it’s not entirely his fault. We would have been fine if JFK hadn’t had heart problems. This left CH in control until April and CH record at that time was terrible. Then Ashley hired Shearer, he listened to the fans to try and win them over, if we had survived Ashley would have been a saviour on Newcastle and that would have been the fairytale ending to the season with Shearer saving his club. Ashley would have been made to be a genius and I’m sure you guys complaining now were cheering when Shearer got hired and then probably slating Ashley for hiring Shearer once we got relegated.
But since relegation, Ashley has had a plan to make Newcastle self-sufficient and he is going about it his way to make sure that Newcastle is here in the future because quite frankly, we were in serious shit in the championship if it wasn’t for Ashley supporting us out of his own pocket. This is what he doesn’t want to do which is the correct thing to do. A self sufficient Newcastle IS the best thing for all. Some of you need to wake up if you think that by spending £20m on a striker we’re going to instantly become a force again, that is not going to happen, not whilst Ashley is at the club and I have to agree with Ashley here because we’ve taken some big risks with high fees in the past and it hasn’t worked out.
This is Ashley’s plan. We’ve signed some quality players and we’ve paid next to nothing in transfer fees which is a good thing. One thing you shouldn’t doubt though is that the money from Carroll IS going to be invested in the club. If you seriously think Ashley is “back pocketing” it you seriously have no knowledge on what its like to run a business, which, at the end of the day is what Newcastle is.
We may not spend the entire fee this window, we may not even spend the entire fee, but one thing you can guarantee is that with our scouting network, we will sign quality.

Comment #106the writing is on th wall i’m afraid. after this summer we will al know that alan pardwho has no say in anything. more players will be sold, not as many players as we expected will be bought in. 35m may well be spent but the players we are goin to sell will counteract that and our net balnce will probly be in th plus.

Comment #109Yes im happy thus far, BIG BIG fan of Ba at Hoff and showed his ability at Hammer will walk into our team as best striker.
Cabaye im still shocked we pulled that off, and Mehdi seems a very decent bloke and prospect.
Just hope we get another striker and not replace outgoing players with crap like Jose Enrique for Wayne Bridge type deals.
