Mevlut Erdinc To Turn Newcastle Down?

The Daily Mail is reporting that Turkey striker Mevlut Erdinc will turn down a move to Newcastle today.

Mevlut Erdinc – to turn Newcastle down today?

They are reporting that Mevlut will give the answer to Newcastle today in a proposed £7M move to Tyneside, but they are reporting he will turn the Tyneside club down.

We don’t know if the report has any truth to it, although Sky Sports has a similar report this morning, and Erdinc has made comments to a French newspaper about wanting to stay at Paris Saint-Germain.

But reports in the Newcastle Journal this morning say that Newcastle think the Turkish striker will make the move, with a big wage rise on offer if he does come to Tyneside, and he told the Magpies a  few weeks back he would like to come to Tyneside.

But it is expected to be D day on the deal today, with Leonardo  taking up his position as Director of Football at PSG, and decisions will now be made on who can move and who cannot at the Paris-based club.

If this indeed happens it will be bad news for Newcastle, but hardly the end of the world, and the club  may just have to go after Chelsea’s 21 year-old striker Daniel Sturridge as their next target.

We should know about Erdinc soon enough, and hopefully today, but if he doesn’t want to come he shouldn’t bother.

The Daily Mail is making a big deal out of Gameiro, Gervinho and possibly Erdinc turning Newcastle down, but hey, you never get all your top targets – the transfer market doesn’t work that way.

Comments welcome.

do we really want a player who does not want to come here?

Not just from Daily fail, but our very own Niafron said he is quoted in french press he doesnt want a move here he wants to stay at PSG.

    So for me? No thanks.

From Pardews comments about too many foreign languages yesterday I would assume they are going after British players anyway. Naylor, hopefully Sturridge and Adam johnston would have me going mental. Just a thought I know, but as soon as I saw his statement I immediately thought of British signings and no more foreigners.

Would anyone on here suspect that telling Ranger to get a new club at end of season was a ploy to kick him up the backside and then when he states he wants to stay and knuckle down, we will hear Mr Pardew say ‘its like having a new player’.

Oh dear, I am begining to sound bloodywell pessimistic, (Slaps forehead)

Sounds like he’d rather to warm a Parisian bench than test himself in a tougher league.

    Hi Guys,
I’ve just finished making a new Newcastle United video about last season.
I would appreciate it if as many fans watched it, and tell me what you think of it.

No Change of Signing him. End of story.

  • @Davybtoon.

Thats not the point. Do we really want players who only came here cause they had little to no other choice?

    No.

Gerodie German, pessimism, where this management team are concerned, is probably a safer bet than optimism to be fair.

  • I’d rather take the risk of signing Better Value for Money Foreigners then overpriced, average at best Englishmen.

On top of that, if all our foreigners are from the same Country, i.e France. It should help them settle down more. Especially since at the moment our first choice Midfield/Attack is French with the possible exception of Jonas on the right.

There are only 3 lads currently in the English under 21’s that i would love at the club.

    Wilshere
    Johnson
    Sturridge.

However because they are the only Non Mediocre stars in the Under 21’s, their prices are Too expensive.

  • Nolan Roux / Jonathon Soriano are the strikers from abroad that i want at the club.

I dont Rate Erding, and I dont think Shlong is worth 5mill, let alone 10.

Niafron seemed to imply from previous posts that Erding may have developed a mentality in front of goal, one that got him nervous and made him susceptible to buckle under the pressure.

This kind of mentality infront of 50,000 screming geordies, the pressure and the difficulty of the Premier League and his apparent unwillingness to test himself doesnt bode well for him if he did infact choose to come and join us.

By no means am I writing him off before he even kicks a ball for us (if he does), but from simply judging him on what niafron has said and what he seems to be saying in the press, I’m not sure if he has the right mentality. Successful strikers have that pure arrogance….Rooney,Sturridge,Drogba etc etc Players like Best,Ameobi and Lovenkrands don’t and to be honest i dont think Erding does either…..(just my opinion though)

For God sake… Is sturridge the only other striker in this world who is an option? Seeing his dance moves on skysports news yesterday I think he’d be a little less clumsy in the nightclub than andy ‘fall off a barstool’ Carroll. Does anyone else secretly hope his Liverpool career goes down the pan? That way he’ll probably end up bk at the toon by the time he’s Ba’s age (26?) for a free – which according to Derek llambias isn’t a free these days. Also, what is Barton putting in his ribena these days? “I am soo much better than Scott Parker”… ?? He needs to hire a Barbary macaque to do his tweets. So here’s some more names I’m going to throw down just to keep your mind off STURRIDGE for one precious second 1. Al Arabi – ligue 1 striker for sm caen ( or sochaux?) 2. Funes Mori (river plate were relegated – he would maybe replace the soon to be missing amigo, but a striker. 3. Zaza – young crystal palace striker for backup – worth a risk if ranger goes. 4. Omar Arellano – Guadalajara striker 5. Schurrle – german fwd for Mainz I believe. 6. Roux – French fwd, team name escapes me but the scousers are apparently interested. Not necessarily number 9’s but something to keep the whiff of sturridges backside off your noses. That is all.

  • No more “free’s” please they cost too much.

Going to be interesting now to see who we do actually buy and last day sales? What happens when/if a club offer £20 mil+ for Tiote on the last day of the window? Atleast we haven’t got too many players that other “top” clubs would really want …….. thanks for that Ashley 😉
