Mevlut Erdinc Wants To Stay At PSG

Some disappointing news is being reported in the Newcastle Journal this morning, that indeed it looks like Mevlut Erdinc wants to stay at PSG and fight for his place in the first team.

Erdinc – wants to stay at PSG

Apparently new PSG Director of Football Leonardo, who started his job yesterday in Paris, wants Erdinç to stay with PSG and fight for his place.

And quite honestly, if it’s true Erdinc wants to stay, then Newcastle shouldn’t push this deal too much.

The one thing we want is for players to come to Newcastle who want to play on Tyneside, and if they don’t then that’s fine, but we should not then try to persuade them to change their minds too much.

Apparently Newcastle would still like to have Mevlut come to Newcastle for talks on personal terms, but it’s saying something that he wants to stay at PSG,  when he could get a bigger wage deal on Tyneside.

If Mevlut remains uninterested then the Magpies will have to move for another striker, and news today they had lodged a bid for Shane Long of Reading.

Newcastle number one striker target, Kevin Gameiro, also turned Newcastle down to move to PSG (are they both crazy?), and it was thought that Erdinc would be hard pressed to get a first team place in Paris next season.

That’s only one reason Newcastle moved for Erdinc, but of course he’s also a very skillful player.

The Journal is reporting that Newcastle are not interested in Shane Long, while there is news in The Sun that the Magpies have launched a bid for the Irish International, so it’s one of those days  when you really don’t know what to believe.

Comments welcome.

@ED- Don’t believe any of them; they know no more than you; – but unlike you they are paid to make this stuff up.

It’s sad tbh, Erding was also quoted he wanted to stay at PSG and fight for a spot.
So we may be turning our attention to Long, any other potentials yet?

I’m sure yesterday we were told Leonardo did NOT want him.

I wish the press would make their minds up!?!

Shane Long is a very good player. Bayern Munich are interesting in him as well. Shows his quality. Get him in!

As someone said before, the journal were saying that ba wasn’t coming either and certainly no news about marveaux and I dont think cabaye either.

Its frustrating cos there’s no smoke without fire, but u just dont know what to believe.

Here’s to hoping we get at least couple of quality signings in and a couple more young promising players.

Was barnetta even in toon? Or was that all just complete hype I wonder?

Considering they waited for Leonardo to become their director and then accepted the bid I would say that they don’t want him. Also, why would he come out and say that if they had no intentions to get rid of him. Its out of his hands

We did try to sign Gervinho but he chose a bigger club over us
We did try to sign Gamiero but he wanted to make the French national team
We are trying to sign Erding but he may not want to leave France

Ed, if its in the press – its garbage.

They, like us, have absolutely NO IDEA who we are trying to sign and who we aint, Its all speculation, rumour mongering and gossip.

I am starting to get concerned about how far down we are going down the list now for a striker. I am glad we managed to get Ba but we do need another top drawer goal scorer.

Is there any proof that we tried to sign those players? Apart from media speculation?

I would be more concerned at the paragraph that says we expect to do no more business before the season starts.

i think ashley and co wont spend the 35m£ in this TRANSFER window cause they want to see how our current players will do in premier league if they do well then they will use all the 35million£ on that new store ashley bought and if the the current group of players do not work has planned then they have to use that money

This one’s a tricky one to call…. on one hand we’re interested in him…he wants to stay and fight for his place(?)

    1. rightly so if a player doesnt want to sign for the club we should drop our interest in him.
    2. stay and fight for his place?…what like shay does at man city…benchwarmer…not the right attitude!!
    3. at the end of the day theres plenty more fish in the sea…and im sure Graham Carr is aware of it!!

all of a sudden i have an awfull feeling that unless any of our big players go we have finished in the transfer market. the downside of this is that we could well be left in the lerch at the end of the summer just like we were in january. i know its been said that we are after two more players, one will be going through the courts to be released, we are dropping further down our list for strikers, onto fourth choice now. add this to the comments made by lamearse and pardew about the money aready being spent and the fact that we may need funds for january, this isnt looking good after a very good start to the window.
I realy realy hope this isnt the case after all I am a fan and want to remain optimistic but trust in the current regime is in short supply.

Mate not wanting to pick an arguement but stop with the £35 million..

At the end of the day Im just like you I want to see the club pending money but after years of seeing players like owen, luque and boumsong arriving for big fees im not really noting the money that gets spent….look at tiote!! value for money or what…if only he can curb his enthusiasm for yellow cards hahaha

one player that we had mentioned as a potential target a little while ago was Seydou Doumbia from CSKA Moscow. Plays in the Ivory Coast team with Cheick and looks quality. Only problem is he will be disappearing for ACN in Jan. I think if we were to put in a bid of around £7-8m then he would be a much better prospect than Long.

There will only be 2 more coming in with at least 1 out.
    1)out-Enrique £8mill approx
    2)in-N Taylor £1mill approx
    3)in-Striker- £7mill approx
    4)books balanced.
