Newcastle left-back Jose Enrique is back in Newcastle for training and reports at Benton say the Spaniard is in good spirits.
Jose Enrique – in good spirits
Whether that’s because he’s hoping for a big wage at some other club, we don’t know, but Newcastle have received no bids for the 25 year-old so far this summer.
And Newcastle are still willing to offer Jose £50K/week over a full five years to stay on Tyneside, and we wonder if he will get as good a deal elsewhere?
Of course we suppose it still possible that Jose decides to stay on Tyneside, and maybe Alan Pardew will have a long talk to him and try to convince him Newcastle are going places in the next year or two.
But it wouldn’t surprise us if Alan has already done that, and Newcastle already have definite targets lined up should Jose leave.
We have to think that if a club like Arsenal, as one example, came in for Jose and offered him European Champions League football, then he’ll be on his way, and that can happen at any time before September 1st of course.
But if Jose is to leave Newcastle it’s probably best for all concerned that it happens sooner rather than later, so Newcastle can bring in his replacement and that player can get bedded in, long before the season starts on August 13th against Arsenal at home.
Jose may be playing in that game, and we suppose there is a chance he could even be in the red and white colors of Arsenal, come to think of it.
Who knows?
If you want to send a message to Jose, asking him to stay at Newcastle, you can do so with this link.

Comment #1Leon Best Age 24 – apps 179 gls 44
Shane Long Age 24 – apps 176 gls 46
Leon Best Prem – apps 11 gls 6
Shane Long Prem – apps 50 gls 5
Whats the point in swapping these, or even paying for Long ??
Should be going after Erding, Sturridge or another young, fast striker to compliment Ba

Comment #7Sick of this Jose saga running on and on.
If he’s waiting to see who we’re going to sign he cant exactly be excited by whats gone down in the last week or so.
Might aswell just let him go, try to get 7m or so for him which will go straight against the clubs debt.
We’ll sign Neil Taylor as his replacement for 1m

Comment #11I’m puzzled. Along with JGreaves above and 90% of all bloggers, why does it appear the management are so keen to get rid of Best?
I know he’s not world class, but he’s probably (apart from the untested Ba) the best of a mediocre bunch of forwards currently under contract.
Do they know something we don’t?
Any clues anybody?

How do you know Neil Taylor is not Enriques replacement? You one of these dudes from News of The World who’s tapping phones?
Swansea suggesting they want 10m for Taylor will be the first words out of Pardews mouth should he sign:
“Neil is a fantastic player who we’ve been looking at for a while now. I have no doubts he will be a great addition to our squad and the fact that Swansea wanted 10million pounds for him shows how highly rated he is…”
What makes you think they’ll spend cash getting someone else in aswell?
pardews already said he’s spent crap loads of the transfer budget on the free transfers…

Comment #14mashy – i guess they want someone that could play alongside Ba.. someone smaller and faster than best … i guess they view Ba and best as similar players … thats why its a swap deal with long …. atleast thats what i think

Comment #15To be fair tho, just seen on skysports that wer the third most active club in transfer window behind Norwich and 5under1and. Just gotta hope we get a move on from now. 5under1and had lots of players on loan, so they’re really just getting back even on squad numbers to an extent.

Comment #17were going to see a lot of coming and goings i think, probably a handful of fringe players will be shipped out… hopefully keeping our current first team intact but unlikely with the current rumblings coming from certain sources.
so far though, the team looks strong in all areas.
krul
simpson-colo-wilo-enrique
barton-cabaya
ben arfa-marveaux
ba
admittedly our cover for certain areas is the greatest but we’re going to find it very difficult to have like for like cover everywhere because such players demand to be regular first teamers unless the club is challenging for major honours across the board.
in my mind i’d like us top 8 next season, if we’re lucky might pinch a europa spot and have a good run in each cup

Comment #19really ,, who cares about the value of our players anymore, other teams pay for players and pay wages, we sell for top price, get free players and say there really expensive, well yeh compaird to my wages there expensive, but there really only getting the going rate for footballers in the prem,,
what i dont get is, why we have to pay for all there wages out of this seasons pot of cash
carrol and nolan sold for 40 mil (about)
in yohan 4.5, + this years wage 2.5 mil,,( about)
ba, free + 3 mil in wages this year only
silvain free + 3mil in wages,
are this club is so full of shiiiii at the mo and we just sit and take it, i am starting to hate it, and that is all wrong, iv loved it all my life, and these pricks are spoiling it

Comment #20p.i — i remember pardew saying that he hoped that enrique would stay .. but if he doesn’t .. they have a planB .. so i don’t think naylor would be first choice left back … just competition for whoever is

Comment #24Another thought on Best:
Follow the logic here…
We are told Ba is the ideal front man (one of those very expensive Free signings). We are getting rid of Best cos he’s to similar to Ba.
Would it not be a good idea to keep best as the ideal replacement if Ba’s dodgy knee gans wobbly ?

Comment #27DJM @ 17 we playing 9v9 now? & how could you forget Tiote? I imagine we’ll mix it up formation wise next season, probably go 4-4-2 at home then 4-4-1-1 away with Ben Arfa in the no 10 role.
Wouldn’t mind Long, he’s better than all our other strikers other than Ba. We just need patience, I’m certain we’ll get more players in, these deals just take time!

Comment #32Thought there was supposed to be a 9.30 announcement from the club or was that some more BS coming through the blog. On the previous subject of Erdinc, If we really have made a 7mil bid for him and he is not coming to us then we should take that 7mil and get on the phone to Chelsea and stick it straight on Sturridge.

Well i hope he isnt the direct replacement mate. Might have played well in the Championship last year but look at Perch when played in the premier.
I just feel that we are looking to make money in the transfer window, even this one. If Enrique goes for say 6m, and taylor signs for less then mission accomplished, and if they can get away with not having to sign another player then they will.
I always worried about how they would try and ‘work’ it this window. Knew they would pull the ‘undisclosed fee’ trick so we didnt know how much was being spent on trnasfers, but this new one about spending a huge portion of the budget already on players who are ‘free’ takes the biscuit.

now there’s goal a plenty from those four with cabaya and tiote covering our back four and threading the passes to our attack i reckon (if whats said about our new additions) we’ll surprise a lot of teams next season… and probably a lot of fans too!
i feel a little excited actually… although i’m usre i’m gonna be annoyed at some point during the next month or two… when enrique leaves for example, or we get long over sturridge.. why pay 7mil for long when probably 10 would get you sturridge?
