Ben Arfa And Dan Gosling Both To Play At Darlington

It looks like 24 year-old Hatem Ben Arfa will make his long awaited first team return at Darlington next Friday evening.

Ben Arfa – in training this week with the number 10 jersey

The Frenchman last played for Newcastle in that ill-fated game at Manchester City on October 3rd when in the 4th minute of the game, his leg was broken in two places by a very physical challenge from Nigel De Jong.

Ben Arfa has looked good in training and has apparently come through  two intensive group sessions during this week unscathed – and it’s likely he will play one half in the game at Darlington.

The same can be said about Dan Gosling, who has also returned to full training this week, following his ACL knee injury he suffered a full 15 months ago at Wolverhampton.

The 21 year-old will also likely get 45 minutes at Darlington before the squad then leaves for their three game US tour in about 10 days time.

Alan Pardew told the local Newcastle press today:

“This will be an exercise in which we give as many of the squad players as possible a run-out.“We will wait to see if Cheick Tiote or James Perch will be involved.”

It should be a very interesting game at Darlington, where Newcastle fans will be able to see new boys Demba Ba, Yohan Cabaye, Sylvain Marveaux and even Mehdi Abeid in action, and it’s a chance to also see the return of Ben Arfa and Dan Gosling.

Sounds good to us.

@biggmarketboy- Judging by his recent spending I’d say SportsDirect and while the subject bores you im just pointing out what it looks like from the outside. He has 2 years remaining on his contract so if Ashley wants to keep him now is the time to offer a new contract otherwise we end up in the same situation as Enrique and Barton are now. Collocini is currently 29 years old so chances are Ashley will want to sell him next summer, not to mention he’s on pretty high wages for us. Or do you think Ashley will offer a good contract to 30 year old Coloccini next summer??? Previous action certainly doesnt point to that.

Have you ever been on this blog before? If so, I’m sure you know that people spend all day every day whining about Mike Ashley on here.

You should have also noticed, that it accomplishes nothing.

If you want to change things, go and do something about it. But sat online complaining about things far beyond your control all day just annoys people.

since it doesn’t look like we’ll sign many if any more players, i’ve been thinking about our squad for next season and it’s not looking bad, just same as last year really with regards to being a bit thin if we get injuries/suspensions.

    Krul/Harper
    Simpson
    S.Taylor
    Colo
    Enrique/Taylor
    Marveaux
    Cabaye
    Tiote
    Barton
    Ben Arfa
    Ba

    Subs:
    Forster
    Williamson
    R.Taylor
    Gutierrez
    Ferguson
    Best
    Lovenkrands
    Ameobi

So it’s not looking too bad, another good striker is important and then another winger and maybe a right back. Subs above aren’t too bad but could do with that little bit extra quality.

Barry – I agree that we’ve got every reason to doubt MA and his tactics – he does have a tendency to sell our captains, too… But that’s for next summer I guess?

Now what bores me is the stating of false facts – i.e. that he would be taking money out of NUFC… I’m not an accountant, but this is something that he’s never done… at least yet.

While you lot get bored about people voicing concerns about our club and Ashley I get bored with people who just accept everything and think Ashley does things in the fans best interests. But enough pissing on everyone’s parade, I’m off to lay in the sun and get sloshed. Enjoy your complaint free time.

News around the internet (not credible sources) that AV are ready to move in for zog with downing wanting to move out to liverpool. maybe that will spark NUFC to action. I think NUFC was playing the waiting game to drive down the price (and rightly so). But, now with another bidder in place, they might move into action.

Starting to think our lack of interest in RW’s could mean a switch to the right flank for Jonas. IMO dont think he’d thrive as much as he does on the left but it would sure suit Danny Simpson who certainly needs help on that flank. I guess the game at Darlo will provide lots of hints then.

Nzogbia ain’t worth £9million if he is free next summer….let him go to Villa….we don’t need anymore left wingers we should be concentrating on the right hand side, central defence and another LB if Enrique is to leave.

@Shot Bru: I agree that zog is not worth 9mil when he is free next summer, but he certainly becomes worthy of more than 9 mil when he is NOT free next summer..i.e, basically if we or some other club sign him and he is on a long contract. Look at the amount of money for Young and Downing, he is certainly in that range. So, it would still be a prudent investment considering his resale value. I am certainly in favour of waiting and driving down the price, but if other bidders come in, it might still be worth it to take a punt.

I’d like to see Guthrie & Vuckic get more of a chance in CM this season.

So in that case, our players capable of playing on the wings are Jonas (either), Benny (either), Marveaux (left), and young Fergy (left).

    Considering Marveaux’s injury history and Ferguson’s age, I really don’t think that’s plentiful cover…

I guess Barton proved he can play right wing OK, but there’s a good chance he wont be here. And Guthrie & Taylor on the right aren’t really attacking enough considering our lack of striking prowess…

But I don’t think for one second that we’re even remotely interested in N’Zog..

@laurits: I agree that he is class and would be a perfect no. 9 material, but I reckon he is similar in the Ba mould aka target man. I reckon we are in the market for the pacy, small finisher category. So, I doubt if we will go for him..However, I would be happy if we would go for him…
