Fabricio Coloccini Is New Newcastle Captain

Fabricio Coloccini has been appointed as the new captain of Newcastle United.

Fabricio Coloccini – new Newcastle captain

The Argentine will replace the departed former captain Kevin Nolan, who is now at West Ham.

The news is being reported by the Evening Chronicle, and we speculated yesterday that Fabricio could get the job, because he is a solid pick at the center of Newcastle’s defense, whereas local lad Steven Taylor has a fight on his hands with Mike Williamson for a first team place.

Former Newcastle great Bobby Moncur had said that Coloccini would make a very good captain, because of the way he plays at the back, and he always gives it all he has.

We’re sure the Argentine will be a proud man today, and we look forward to his first interview as the new Newcastle captain.

We think this choice will be a popular one with Newcastle fans, and certainly Alan Pardew hasn’t wasted much time on the appointment.

But Coloccini may have to improve his English, and maybe even his French?

😀

Congratulations to the Argentine, who is a popular player on Tyneside.

Makes sense, he’s the only experienced member of the squad guaranteed to start every game when fit.

I’m not a big fan of keepers being captain. Harper wont be 1st choice next season in my opinion.

Not a fan of keepers being captain.

I think eventually it was a straight forward decision. 3 french speaking players playing in the middle of the park, with Jose alongside him. And apparently he speaks good English I heard, looking forward to his interview later today.

yh great choice, his english is good nowadays, and he is the least injury prone player in the swuad, played nearly every game last year? so he will always be there on the pitch, he also seems v popular in the squad so gd hoice 😀

I know what you mean about seeing the whole game but I feel its better when the captain is out field where the action is. just my opinion though it doesn’t mean i’m right.

It will be a stupid move to let harper go as that means we have to unproven very young keepers harper has been solid for years cannot see even pardew being that stupid

i think collo will be here for a long time to come as his injury record and fitness has been so good throughout his career and he should be able to play at the top level til he is atleast 35.

this is something that definatly cant be said for joey but i would like to see him get a new contract, maybe he would sign a rolling contract come january if no bigger clubs show an interest.

I thought Pardew said he wouldn’t decide on the captain until just before the start of the season?

    I hope he’s 100% sure Colo won’t be sold …

    Perhaps Ashley’s assured him.

Big call to say Forster is better than Harper by a long way Davybtoon. to be fair i dont think Krul is even a long way better than him yet. Personally id prefer to see Forster play at a decent level before making a judgement on him.

Taking into account the situation of each player, Colo was always the logical choice for captain, I personally think a central defender has a good view of what is going on on the pitch. Just depends how vocal he is cos he already leads by example when he plays. The right choice! Barton could be usefull as vice captain.(If he stays)

really dont kno what u lot see in harper hes a good shot stopper n thats about it, hes to slow off his line, he dosent come for crosses or corners unlike krul n he dosent talk to his defence ie stoke situation
