Reports Wayne Routledge Is Moving To Leicester City

The Daily Express was reporting last night that Leicester City have won the race to sign Newcastle winger Wayne Routledge.

Wayne Routledge – moving to Leicester City?

Routledge has been pursued by Cardiff City and Nottingham Forest in the Championship over the last few days, and we thought he would be a great acquisition for any club looking to be promoted next seaosn.

But this morning Swansea City were in discussions with Newcastle over the transfer of the former QPR winger,  but a fee had not been agreed.

If the Daily Express is correct, then former England manager Sven Eriksson has won the race to sign Routledge, and the fee is somewhere between £1.5M and £2M, depending on which reports you are willing to believe.

It will be an excellent move for Wayne, as he will get regular games next season, and Leicester must be one of the clubs favored to  get promotion next season.

Comments welcome.

If true then good luck to him – he served us well in the NPC and it’s a shame it he couldn’t make the step up. All the best wayne

I’m not saying he is my first choice for us but in the PL, he didn’t get much of a chance for us. I watched him play against Wigan (I think he was a sub) but he looked sharp and a couple other games he wasn’t bad.

I don’t think he deserves flak and I hope he does well in another team and in the PL if his team gets promoted.

not fussed but I must say I’ve never seen anyone work Ashley Cole like he did at St James last year. Absolutely took the piss on occasion, not everyday you see someone get the best of Cole!

These guys alongside the two Ameobi’s would be hilarious. We could even field a team with two Ameobi’s, two (or perhaps 3) Taylor’s and and two of these guys. Worth a punt?

    Exactly Brutoon,

Good Riddance! He was never an EPL type of player, we only signed him because we were going down. Just not good enough and I can’t wait to say Good Riddance to Smith and Perch. Got to get rid of the dead wood.
Hope Ameobi, Enrique and Barton all sort their contracts out before the season starts.

He did ok and I wish him well. Loaning Ranger (albeit inadvertently) and selling Routledge are two good results for us.

The most amazing thing is, how did he get the number 10 shirt in the first place.

But i’d be gutted to see him go. Our squad is too small. We need fringe and backup players like him.

    hey brutoon

how about u just thank wayne for all is hard work for us instead of being a dick about it!!! he was a great player for us in the championship and it didn’t pan out last year but he didnt make a big thing about wanting to move just did his work and left!!

  • Have to feel sorry for him. Helps get us up. Helps get QPR up and will now help to get Leicester up. Then have to find another Championship team to help go up. I suppose we could call him the upper.

Thanks for everything Wayne. Wish you all the best.

  • Then again. With that sort of reputation, he’ll be able to demand a canny fee.

QPR did a CLEVER Job – loan Routledge and when they got promoted then IGNORE HIM

he been to spurs, aston villa, fulham, newcastle and never make it in the premierleague.

The worst no 10 we had in 30 years

Routledge had lost all confidence towards the end of his last Newcastle stint. He would recieve the bal but didnt seem to have to will to run at defenders anymore. Started to pass it back to the central midfield or defenders loads more than he ever had done before.

He’s a great Championship player, same as someone like Chopra a few years back, where they are allowed slightly more time and space. Routledge in my book is just not good enough for the premier league and he’s tried with a few clubs now.
Canny lad, good pro but just not good enough. Thanks, good luck.

If I had a criticism it would be to say that he flattered to deceive in terms of the final product. But he did have pace and he could beat players and to say he’s the worst winger we’ve had in 30 years is just nonsense. Wane Fereday anybody?

I agree with ilovetoon like. He wouldnt come anywhere near our starting 11 but he’s good enough to have as backup when we’re desperate imo.

With the pace he has he’d make a good withdrawn striker sub late in games. He proved he can hit the back of the net at QPR.

Not too gutted if he leaves though.

If we keep what we have, buy a decent striker, get cover for Tiote and Enrique I’d be happy if they shut the window. N’Zogbia would be an added luxury. Smith and Perch leaving would be the icing on the cake with youngsters brought in to bolster the up and coming ranks would make it the perfect window then. Not a huge amount of work involved there and it would be game set and match for me.

You must have heard of him ross! He’s one of the two bangura’s from sierra leone we’re after.

Its already been confirmed that we’ve been scouting him since december. Plays in the swedish prem. Seems quite likely as he’s young probably quite cheap and has alot of potential for the future.
