If nobody comes in for Jose Enrique this summer, he will likely see out his contract and become a free agent next summer.
Jose Enrique – free agent next summer?
That’s not a good situation for the club, and they will try to move the Spanish U21 International on this summer, and if that isn’t successful, they’ll try to move him out in January, so at least they get a transfer fee for him.
But of coure Jose has every right to see out his contract at Newcastle, and we think he will try to do that, if no club comes in for him.
Not surprisingly Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is less than happy with the situation, and he said this to say about Jose today:
“He’s made it pretty clear that he still won’t sign a contract and that his future may be elsewhere.”
“I’m not really comfortable with that, but we will have to deal with it and we are still hoping that he signs a contract with us.”
“There has to be doubt over that situation.”
It looked a few months ago that Jose was bound for Liverpool, but no bid has come in for the player, and Arsenal are not interested because they will not replace the departed Gail Clichy, because 21 year-old Kieran Gibbs looks like a ready made replacement.
Pardew may also be wary of having a player at the club who wants to leave Newcastle, although Jose been very professional, and always gives his best on the field of play, over the last four years.
It’s a difficult situation for Newcastle, if they cannot move Jose out this summer.

Comment #50Wwjbd… He played equally as well if not better with ben arfa infront of him (everton) and played well with ferfie infront of him. Alot of the time jonas gets in joses way and gets a bollocking from jose.
I dont understand why people keep on saying his head wasnt in it for the second half of the season, he got man of the match a few times and still looked like one of the best left backs in the pl. Find me an article that says jose isnt happy here and wants to leave because so far i havent seen one(actual quotes), yes he hasnt signed a contract but would you with our board selling carroll/nolan and possibly barton/tiote.

Comment #51Either way if Jose leaves next summer for free its going to cost the team that signs him a lot of money. I mean we signed a few freebies and spent £35m

It could aye but I think as long as the fans dont turn on him and the club invest this summer (which they have/will hopefully) he will play his heart out for us for atleast another season

Comment #53Strange how things have gone from:
“They’ll ruin our spirit by getting all these players and all the others going out”.
To:
“Where’s our two new Strikers, LB and cover for RB?!?!”
While Nolan is still the only one going out and no direct approaches for any other players, save Wayne and Nile.
Now get Smith and Perch out!

Comment #54My opinion of Jose has fallen even more… The game he play’s is simply disrespectfull to NUFC and he should just take his toys and get the feck out of town… If there is no bidders then put him in the reserves and transferlist him… Pardew is way to soft on this imo, it seems like he crawls and paws at the boy’s feet to make him stay, instead of playing hardball himself.

I disagree about Jonas getting in his way regularly Jose trys to push forward in the wrong ways but normally they work very well together and Jose is helped out a lot by Jonas in defensive duties. Still a good player but Jonas does a lot in their partnership.

Comment #61Wwjbd… If you watch jose likes to play 1-2’s with jonas and then bomb down the wing, so for that to happen jonas has to go off the wing and tuk in a bit to leave space for jose, instead of doing this jonas often went on the wing meaning jose had to run infield and try and take on half of a teams midfield (normally he beat most of them, in one game he got all the way across to the other wing lol). Jonas helps out defensively i will admit but going forward jose was better off keeping the ball himself and crossing it himself, towards the end of last season jose was crossing himself alot more rather that passing to jonas, against wba he score(og) doing this.

Aye he does like the 1-2s with Jonas but thing is Jonas is a winger of course he is going to stay on the wing. Jose can bomb on down the wing but that stops Jonas doing it
Imo Jose should be there to support Jonas going forward not the other way on but it works for the most part so I dont complain and when Jose is caught out too far forward (which happens a fair bit) Jonas holds up play on the left allowing him to get back into position

Comment #65I think it’s very hypocritical of NUFC and Alain Pardieu to say that letting him run down his contract and allowing him to leave for free is not a situation they want.
IT’S ASHLEY’S ONLY RECRUITMENT METHOD!
Getting in players for free who have run down their contract meaning he doesn’t have to fork out for them

Comment #72starting 11 with the players currently at the club IMO:
Krul
Simpson S.Taylor Colo Enrique
Cabaye Tioté
Barton Ben Arfa Jonas
Demba Ba
Keepers:
Krul is growing, and could become one of the best in the coming season.
Harper is a perfect back up, as he has been in most of his carreer at tyneside
Defence:
Colo and Enrique are top class
Simpson and S.Taylor are ok, but the weak ones in the back four.
back ups: Williamson, Kadar, R.Taylor and young gun Tavernier is ok..
Midfield:
The midfield is fantastic.. Perhaps one of the best in the league?!
Back up players like Marveaux, Gosling, young guns Ferguson and Vuckic is on a high scale for back ups!
Ba is extremely dangerous and could reach for a season with perhaps 20 goals…
Back ups suck! Only Best has shown a little bit of potential. He is fine as number 3!
A striker with the classe of Ba is needed, so that Ba wont be the only striker of top of the league class
Ranger, Ameobi and Løvenkrands are ok as number 4, 5 and 6 in front.
All in all:
We are in a need for one more classy striker.
We should bring in another classe central defender with the same class of Colo.
If that happens, we are IMO on the verge of breaking into 4th place, i reckon.
City, Chelski and Man U are far better than the rest.
The Gunners and Spurs are looking shaky a few weeks from kick of. And Liverpool are bringing in to many new players at once, and it could be to much.
The fight of 4th place is open this year.
Gunners, Spurs and Liverpool are in it, with us as outsiders for that place.
IMO ;o)

Comment #73He should be given the ultimatum. If you ain’t going to sign for the club, you will be transfer listed and wont be named in the squad of 25.
Hard-ball works 2 ways!!! He’s holding the club to ransom and NO player is bigger than the club. Get him sold asap

Comment #74Which of these two statements most accurately describe a positive way forward for NUFC ??
ChicagoToon says:
“lets hope we do well this season and maybe that will convince him to sign a new contract”
or
eaststandgeordie says:
“If he wants to see out his contract just dont play him make him train with the young uns see how he likes it! Find a target who we could get and use jose in the deal”
Lets see what you, the public, decide ?
