Are Newcastle Interested In Nicklas Bendtner?

Metro is reporting today that Newcastle are interested in Arsenal striker, Nicklas Bendtner

Nicklas Bendtner – are Newcastle interested?

Nicklas had a hard job getting  games for Arsenal last season,  and it seems best for his career that he move away from The Emirates.

Bendtner joined Arsenal when he was 17 years old  back in 2005, from Kjøbenhavns Boldklub in Copenhagen, his home town club.

He has played for all the Danish Youth sides and 38 times with 12 goals for the senior Denmark side, and he has made 153 appearances for Arsenal with 45 goals.

And from what we can tell, from his comments, he is his own greatest fan.

It was thought that Bundesliga club Hamburg were interested in the player, but their new Sporting Director Frank Arnesen, told reporters today:

“Nicklas Bendtner is a very interesting player. His signing would be a real dream,”

“But there are two clubs that have made offers for Nicklas, and unfortunately, we are not among them.”

Newcastle have been linked with Bendtner this summer, but there again we’ve been linked with many strikers this summer, so we don’t know if Newcastle have a real interest in this player – but we don’t think so.

And we don’t think he’s worth £12M either, which is the asking price apparently, although he’s worth more than that when you think we got a massive £35M for Andy Carroll.

Liverpool paid that amount of money for the Gateshead lad, based on his massive potential, so they will no doubt be hoping he comes through, otherwise they will have massively overpaid for the 22 year-old.

But there again it doesn’t look like Liverpool will change their style of play to play to Andy’s strengths – so we’ll see.

You would also think Newcastle can afford the £12M asking fee, if they are interested, but Ashley seems unwilling to pay out huge fees for players,  and would prefer to get a good bargain.

Newcastle have been doing good deals over these last couple of years, and for under £10M, Newcastle have brought in Ben Arfa, Marveaux, Cabaye and Demba Ba this year, that’s just  fantastic business for Newcastle.

The reports are that Newcastle may be waiting for the price to come down a little, before they move in, but if that’s the case, the club could always put in a first bid for the player. Maybe they already have?

We are not too sure about Bendtner, and think Newcastle could get a better deal elsewhere, and according to the Journal yesterday the club have three strikers lined up  on the Continent, if Newcastle cannot get Mevlut Erdinc from PSG to Tyneside.

Sporting Lisbon are also said to be interested in the player.

We don’t think he would be a good buy, but let’s know what you think ,  do you think Newcastle should be going after this player – don’t worry about the fee – here’s the poll:

Should Newcastle Go After Nicklas Bendtner

I’d be amazed if we were after Bendtner, he’s quite expensive, 10million at least and not the sort of player were after. He’s very similar to Ba, we’re after a pacy striker to run in behind opponents back line, not to mention all reports have said our striker targets are not based in this country.

I don’t really have an opinion on this. I think any striker could play well with our proposed midfield. Similarities to ba are a fair point. I hope best gets another good crack at it next season.

Odemwingie is 28/29… why would they sell? Why would we buy?

Should Ashley ever wipe down those layers upon layers of cobwebs on that £35mil stash – I will be amazed.

They plan to spend next to nowt, as he has done since the protests – pocket the cash – and fill the team with knock-downs then sell on…

quibbling over million here and there for proven players like Zog when you’re sitting on the treasure chest,,, it’s a disgrace and half of yee lot all think we’re so clever for not spending anything on transfer fees.

Bendtner is not fast enough to play with Ben arfa or Cabaye. I don’t remember who was telling me a couple of day ago it’s not a problem if you got fast wingers, but i don’t agree.

The possibility to pierce through the center of the Defense is a lethal weapon. Far more dangerous than passing by the wings first.

Good player but is more of a target man. I believe we are after a more mobile striker, with pace and skill…some who probably can play on the right side if necessary.

If strolla and Best leave then I think Bendtner could be a real possibilty.

No one wants Bendtner but everyone wants to keep Ranger….odd how peoples minds work on here

Is he worth 12 mill? Of course he is Carroll is worth 35 mill and Torres is worth 50mill.

Personally I like Bendtner and would welcome him here though I dont think he would fit into our style of play thats planned though he is better than Ba as a target man

Hes a player whos size works against him cus hes not dominant in the air as people expect. Decent player who would bang them in given a run of games, but would cost abit plus is prone to the odd sitter.

bendtner would be a good player for us but it’ll just be a made up story, he has a great scoring record considering he mainly comes on as a substitute, look at his goals on youtube he is a good goalscorer, only problem is his attitude.

he looks like a class act and has just been moved up from the b team to the A team at villarreal and could be a real find.

We need someone with a bit of pace about them, as a striker only have lovenkrands and ranger that are a tad pacey and their diabolical, Erding would be a good option but I would opt for sturridge or defoe

I know Bille from Denmark. He used to play for my local club called Frem. He has potential, but will never come near premier league level. Maybe for a buttom half club, but no more than that.
Youtube does not tell the whole thing!!
His stats in the danish league looks good, but remember that the danish league sucks bit time! Only FC Copenhagen would survive in the premier league, and alot of the clubs would not even make in the premier ship!
    Bille is a no go!!!

Wouldn’t mind Bendtner at Toon. He has the ability, and to be fair doesn’t get a run of games at Arsenal to prove himself or build any consistency.

The fact that Bendtner is a better striker than Lovenkrands, Ameobi and Best MUST make him a good buy (and an improvement to the squad).
    Unfortunately not at £12mill.
I think the guy is a good player and would do well at the Toon but I suppose you can’t blame Wenger wanting £12mill. when we sold Carroll for 35.
