Nile Ranger became the second Newcastle player to be refused a Visa for the US tour, by the American Embassy yesterday, because of his previous criminal record.
Nile Ranger – would like to stay on Tyneside
Joey Barton was denied a Visa earlier this week, and both players will not now be on the plane to the US on Sunday.
Newcastle will play Sporting Kansas, Orlando City and Columbus Crew in America, but Joey and Nile will now join up with the Reserves tour of Holland, where they will play Hollandia, FC Utrecht and Almere City.
The reason Ranger didn’t get a VISA was because of his three month stay in a young offenders’ home when he was part of an armed robbery back in 2006.
It seems Alan Pardew has now seen enough of Ranger and wants to move him out of Newcastle, and earlier this week Blackpool met the asking price of around £1.5M for the London striker.
But Ranger was unable to agree terms, and it seems the loan deal that was being touted at the time was not true, and Nile is now back in training at Newcastle.
West Ham were possibly interested in the 20 year-old England U19 and U20 International, but no bids have come from Sam Allardyce, at least not yet.
Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has said they had agreed a deal for Ranger:
“We have had a bid accepted by a club for a Premier League player that is significantly in excess of our previous highest bid, and it is now entirely down to the player and his agent to determine matters so that we can progress.”
The Newcastle Journal is reporting today that Nile would really like to stay on Tyneside, and fight for his place, but that may be very difficult.
Nile has always said he loves it at Newcastle, and says the move potentially saved him from a life of crime.
But it’s very hard to stay at a club when they basically say they don’t want you, so we still expect Nile to move out this summer.
However, we still think this lad can make it, and we’d like to see him sent out on loan to a Championship club next season, so he can get regular games, and maybe finally get on the goals trail.
And Alan Pardew can then see how he progresses. and Newcastle would still have the chance of keeping the player, who has skills galore and could still make it on Tyenside.
That’s what we’d like to see, but we don’t think that will happen.
What do you think?

Comment #41Anybody know who the 3 potential strikers we’re after if we don’t get Erding, European strikers under the age of 28! Wouldn’t mind Marvin Martin/Lucas Podolski/Bojan, unless Bojan has left?

Comment #43@niafron – Pardew’s comments were pretty embarrassing. He should just accept the player’s decision with some dignity, without resorting to childish ‘we’re a bigger club than you anyway’. Saying PSG were in the CL just topped it off…
didn’t he say enrique was 28 in his last interview? Crazy- wasn’t even a slip.. he said ‘at 28 this is his last chance for a big move away’ or summit…. man get your facts straight..

Comment #45Wouldn’t mind Moussa Sow, but are Lille really wanting to sell all there players? They’ve just got into the Champions League lol. Also what nationality is he? Can’t see us signing anymore African players, as Tiote and Ba are away for ACoN

Comment #46@TAT – Im thinking the same like, even if Sow wanted out I dont think Lille would sell after losing Cabaye, Gervinho and Hazard.
Im not sure of Sow’s nationality but I know Doumbia is from the ivory coast so he’d be off for the ACN.
I know a lot of people on here won’t agree with me but I’d be very happy if we signed Bendtner like. I reckon if he was getting regular first team football upfront, rather than out wide at Arsenal, he’d be class.

Comment #49They are european-based players… not necessarily european.
Who knows? Show me three long-term injured players around 25 who are about to be released on a bosman, or have a secret cash-saving release clause and I’ll show you Ashley’s wet dream wish list.

Bojan, why not…

Comment #52Ranger has great potential. I am sure if he had been under Ferguson or Wenger’s wing he would have been showing it by now.
I think someone should sit down with him and impress on him it’s only the likes of Blackpool that are showing interest and it’s a club like that where he’ll end up if he doesn’t apply himself correctly.
It may do the trick and he may have had a cold hard look at himself here. We can only hope.
Personally I think he’s got too much ability just to be cast aside without trying to bring him up to par.
Maybe Pardew just can’t be bothered.

Armed robbery for Ranger. Aggrevated assault and stabbing a lit cigar into someones eye for Barton. Carroll used to smack his girlfriends around.
Its a team full of good, honest stand up blokes like hahaha.

I agree with you on Bendtner a roll in the starting line up could be just what he needs.
I don’t really wish to keep Ranger,Xisco,Strolla,Lovenkrands,Smith, and any other fringe players that i’ve missed.
Quite hard to concentrate on my end of year 9 test and think about transfers at the same time lol.
If we got rid of the stated and got Sow/Martin/Matiudi and M’Bengue we could be a 6/7/8 placed team next season.
Also can’t see us getting N’zogbia when Villa have got around 40mil to buy players, on the other hand he might not wish to join them as I think they could be relegation candidates!

Comment #61I think with a decent run of first team games Bendtner could fulfil his true potential, but Im warey of the £12m offer I heard about last night, surely for that money we could look to someone more proven?

Comment #64Aye Robby Robson; it could be exactly what’s needed, especially since it was only £1.5m and from Blackpool…. On the other hand, he knows he doesn’t have to leave if he doesn’t want to. Massive shame really.
Maybe it’s time to really start chucking Phil Airey into the fray. Different type of player, but another with bags of potential.

Comment #67Send NR on loan to Blackpool. I fell his stock value, if anywhere, will go up and he still could become another Andy Carroll.
I feel he has it in him. But can he find it. Does he believe enough in himself for who he is – without the gun toting mask he hides behind.
Self esteem is a hard earned inside out process. It’s not what the papers say about a player that makes him great. It’s how the player sees themself and how much will power they apply to living greatness. Ask Uncle Alan.

Comment #68I’d be amazed if we were after Bendtner, he’s quite expensive, 10million at least and not the sort of player were after. He’s very similar to Ba, we’re after a pacy striker to run in behind opponents back line, not to mention all reports have said our striker targets are not based in this country.

1) Just signed a new deal at WBA
2) He’s 29, so 3 years too old.

Comment #79Can you just imagine, in three years time if they all reach their potential, of Lua Lua, Sammi Ameobi and Ranger.
Oh well, I can dream. Even if only one made it, it would be worth while.
More than likely, they will turn out to be nearly wazers.
Love to be wrong, and I would still keep all of them on the books.
Loan, not sell.
