Alan Pardew has again said he wants only two more players in before the window shuts close on Wednesday, August 31st.
Alan Pardew – two more players needed
That doesn’t seem enough players, but we suppose we’ll wait to see how things go over the next seven weeks or so, because some senior players could still leave Newcastle and they would need to be replaced.
This is what Alan Pardew told the Newcastle press:
“We’re looking at getting one or two more players in before the window closes, but we’ve also got a big squad.”
“We need to move one or two on, that’s where we are.” “One or two players aren’t going to get the first-team action they deserve for the type of player they are.”
“They’ll be better off getting first-team football elsewhere, be it on loan or permanently.”
Newcastle will need to work overtime to clear out the decks at Newcastle, where players like Wayne Routledge, Alan Smith, Kazenga LuaLua, Nile Ranger and Leon Best could all be moved to other clubs.
So can Jose Enrique and Joey barton but we hope they will stay on Tyneside for the next season, and in addition Jose will sign his new deal.
Those departures will not include Cheick Tiote, although once again in the last several days he has been linked with a move to Chelsea becasue of the long term injury to Michael Essien.
It looks like Newcastle may now miss out on Swansea’s Neil Taylor, who now seems likely to sign a new contract to stay at Swansea, and we assume if they have a release clause in that contract, they make it say £10M.
It will be interesting to see who makes the trip to the USA this coming Sunday, as we have to assume players like Wayne Routledge, who are looking to move on this summer, may not be included in the squad.
