Cheick Tiote – I Am Very Happy At Newcastle

It’s fair to say that as soon as Cheick Tiote was signed by Newcastle last summer, from FC Twente, the Newcastle fans  immediately took to the Ivory Coast International.

Cheick Tiote – after scoring that amazing goal against Arsenal

And then in January when we lost Andy Carroll to Liverpool, we heard that Chelsea had put in a sizable bid for Cheick on January 31st, but the lad said he didn’t want to leave Newcastle, and was happy on Tyneside.

A short time later he was awarded with a huge six year deal by Newcastle, and then that goal he scored in the last minute in the amazing comeback against Arsenal in  February – will never be forgotten.

Cheick is upbeat about the new season and he told the local Newcastle press today:

“It is only the journalists who have talked about Chelsea – I haven’t said anything.”   “I am a Newcastle player, and I will do my job in Newcastle.”

“I have a contract, and that’s the most important thing for me.”  “I’m happy, if I wasn’t happy I wouldn’t have signed for six years.”

“We’re starting the new season, and we have to work hard to be fit for the first game.”  “It’s good to be back after six weeks, and now it’s time to work. That’s what the team are doing.”

“This season we need to be better than last season, and also we need to train well.”  “We’re going to America to work hard and be ready for this season.

“I need to play get my condition back, this is the most important thing.”  “If you don’t play, you can’t get in good condition, so I’m looking forward to playing in America.”

“We’re an English club, and everyone needs to speak the language.”  “It will be better for the manager and the other players.”

“The players were happy to sign here, and I think they will do well this season for the club.”

There are reports today that Chelsea are readying a massive bid for Cheick, but the only reason we think Tiote to Chelsea has been regurgitated  by the gossip press,  is because Michael Essien is out for at least six months.

We don’t think Cheick is going anywhere, we hope Cheick is not going anywhere.

Comments welcome.

Ed, when you going to do that pre-match report which you always used to do a day before a game and then a couple of hours before a game?

Good, he his happy, and with 6yrs left on his contract, it would take a HUGE bid to take him away from us.

We can only hope no offer deemed good enough by Ashley comes in for him. He is our most important player and we need him.

Has he put on a bit of beef as requested by AP?

  • Sick of all these people saying we need to do something E.G. Protest.

Do you honestly think Cashley cares? No he doesnt. Its a waste of time and we end up looking like muppets. Just buckle down and support the team, regardless of who the feck plays for us. We are Newcastle Fans end of Story. Yes i want to see Glory at the club, no doubt. But at the end of the day, we are powerless and we just have to endure Cashley’s Rule. All we can do is support the players that put on the Newcastle Jersey week in week out and play for the club.

Some of you really need to Grow the f up. And thats coming from a 19 year old.

Happy days! he’s one of newcastle’s most important players! If pardew want’s to play this free flow attacking football then he needs Tiote protecting them/ the defence. In regards to a DM, has anyone else seen the crack on sky sports transfer clockwatch about hargreaves possibly heading to newcastle on a trial??

I can’t see anything wrong about offering him a trial to prove his fitness, won’t cost Cashley anything to have a look at him then offer a pay-as-you-play deal? Win win situation isn’t it? or am I missing something here??

Why oh why do you lot keep saying MA will sell any player at the drop of a hat?

Here are the facts on Carroll – MA turned down bids of £15M, £20M, £25M and a ‘final bid’ of £30M from Lpool. Turning down £30M for a player with 17 games in the Prem? Yep – thats what MA did. Tevez might go for £37M ffs!! Carroll wasn’t worth anywhere near £30M and MA knew it – yet he turned the bid down. Why? BECAUSE HE DID’NT WANT TO SELL CARROLL. If he did he would have cashed in at £20M or £25M tops.

It was only when Carroll was offered £80K a week by Lpool and demanded a transfer if MA didn’t match it that MA screwed £30M cash + another £5M out of LPool + a 25% sell on clause.

EVERY player has his price – even Rooney. If Real or Barca offered £150M he would be sold – period.

MA won’t WANT to sell Tiote but if Chelsea were daft enought to offer £30M+ MA might be tempted. Anything less and I doubt he would even blink at it. Chelsea have got no chance at £15M-£25M – no chance. Because MA isn’t after selling prize assets like Tiote UNLESS they demand to go – like judas Carroll.

MA turned down the bids because he knew liverpool were desperate for a striker and had plenty money to spend and the transfer window was going to close in hours.

i think bills-son is right.. why would we want to sell tiote now? is he gona lose value over the next 3 seasons? it woulod take a mammoth bid (probs including sturridge) to tempt us. u cant dispute he rejected £30m..

dave1961 – thats what he’s always done? So you are saying MA has ‘always’ sold our best players at the drop of a hat ? Absolute B%ll%x.

They only really decent players we’ve sold under MA are Zog, Given, Milner and Carroll. And guess what? THEY ALL WANTED TO GO. Not one of them was sold out of the blue just because a club made a big offer.

The only other time MA has sold players was after relegation and again they ALL WANTED TO GO ie., Bassong, Martins, Owen, Duff, Beye.

BUT … and this what the likes of you ignore, forget, don’t realise, won’t give MA credit for … when we got relegated MA could have sold off big earners like Nolan, Barton, Enrique, Smith, Guti, Collo … BUT HE DID’NT. Why? Because he WAS ambitious to get straight back in the Prem and DOES NOT have a history of selling decent players who don’t want to leave.

Barton and Nolan wanted 5 year contracts – they aint getting them and I fully agree with that. That’s not penny pinching or pushing players out – its common sense business.

Try telling the employees of SportsDirect who have just got a £44,000 bonus that MA is Fat Greedy Penny Pinching Ba$tard … you’ll be laughed out of town.

    Get ya facts right man.

And the reason he didn’t sell the players after relegation is because he needed them to get back in the premier league because the club wouldn’t be worth as much in the championship.

Zog, Given and Carroll didn’t want to go? Are you having a laugh. Given practically tore his contract up after the Lpool thrashing and Zog refused to play for Kinnear after the Insomnia quote. As soon as Carroll knew Lpool would pay him £80K a week his head was on Merseyside. Only Milner could arguably have been said to not demand a transfer but it was no secret he wanted away.

I couldn’t give a monkey’s HOW much MA spends – I’m more bothered about WHO we sign and HOW they play. Tiote £3.5M and HBA £5M are proof we don’t have to spend big to get quality. Look at Owen £17M, Martins £11M, Luque £9M, Boumsong £8M, Marcelino £7M – £52M on 5 cr%p players – where did that big spending get us eh?

If Ba, Cabaye and Marveaux + a couple of other new signing are up to the quality of Tiote and HBA – who cares what they cost?

Big money does not always = big talent and big performanes. Boy do we know it at the Toon.

Hey man, give us a break bonny lad.

What are you trying to say? So why didn’t Leeds, Boro, Sheff Wed etc., etc., keep all their players to go straight back up?

To the likes of you MA is damned if he does and damned if he does’nt. If he spent £100M before August you would probably say the FGB is only doing it to to sell the club for more.

Spot on mate. It’s the quality on the pitch, not how much we pay for them. In fact, Shearer apart, virtually none of our expensive signings over the last twenty years have really delivered the goods. In 1954 Busby chucked out all his old stars (except Johnny Berry) and filled his side with new ,hungry, youngsters and until Munich he was proved right. Trust in Graham Carr’s judgement and Mike Ashley’s undoubted business sense and we all may be surprised come next May. Even Enrique may change his mind!

If Ashley has his helicopter going outside the room on August 31st then Tiote will want to go as well.

Bill-son, you are right that they all wanted to go, just like Waddle, Beardsley, Gascoigne, MacDonald, and even Ferdinand and Cole for that matter. If the club make’s it clear that you should go then you would be an idiot to sacrifice your career to prove a point. The question is why they all want to go.

On the bright side I understand the Pardew has been guaranteed that:

    a) We will definitely not be selling Tiote

    b) When we sell Tiote he will get the money to spend on players.

    c) Although we won’t be able to spend any of the Tiote money on players, we won’t have to sell anyone after Tiote.

    d) He will definitely be able to spend all of the money that we get for the player we sell after Tiote on new players … unless he can’t.

Did anybody read what i wrote?,i said i didn’t want mega signings,i have a deep mistrust of MA,there’s 2 way’s to look at everything,Sturridge for example is 21 possibly available i don’t care what anybody say’s they are not asking 20m for him, that figure was on SSN and it was out of The Express, what is wrong with paying 10-15m for a young English striker when we sold our old No9 for £35 m?,and my point about not selling the players after relegation is that in my opinion is MA want’s to sell the club in the near future,he is not a fan of the club,he is not passionate about football,he is a business man,it’s all well and good signing class bargains like Ben Arfa and Tiote but we can’t do that all the time,if it was that easy every team in the league would be unearthing cheap gems
