N’Zogbia And Matuidi Too Expensive For Newcastle

Some revealing comments from Alan Pardew today regarding some players he has been after this summer.

Charles N’Zogbia – too expensive

It turns out the Journal is reporting that Pardew wanted Charles N’Zogbia, as one example, and Charles also came recommended by talented l Chief Scout Graham Carr, and the same was true of Blaise Matuidi, the defensive midfielder at Tolouse.

But both deals were judged to be too expensive by the Newcastle hierarchy, and Alan said only yesterday that Charles would not be coming to Newcastle.

Alan Pardew has a tough job at Newcastle, because he is the man – the only man in fact  apart from the players – who goes before the press to answer all questions on the club, even though he doesn’t control the purse strings and other things.

Our concern is that the last two seasons we have been short on numbers,  and with only two more players supposedly to be brought in this summer. then we just don’t see the size of the squad being any bigger.

Alan Pardew has said the squad is improved from last season, and he’s probabaly right on that:

“All three of the players who have come in are what I would consider first team players.”

“So if you put them into the mix plus Hatem Ben Arfa and Dan Gosling coming back from what we had last year, we have improved considerably.”

“Going into the season as we stand now, I think we’re a little bit stronger than we were in the second half of last year.”

“Hopefully, if we get another striker in, we’ll also be stronger than we were in the first half of the season. That’s where we are. I think the additions we have added will add some intelligence to our play.

“Particularly Yohan Cabaye, who’s a really intelligent player. I think you’ll see a slightly different Newcastle to last year.”

But we must have  a bigger squad than we’ve had last season, and we just don’t see that happening unless more players are added to the squad this summer.

What do you think?

Our squad is the same size, and we have lost 23 goals out of the team. Whether or not Cabeye is a class player is bye the bye, he is totally unproven.

this was the window to go out and show we are going to be a force agai. I expect the usual “what you wanna spend 20m on Owen’ etc etc, and “we have to be sound financially. If what we are doing is so correct, then how come Stoke/Sunderland/ are all spending money, with lower ticket gates, merch sales? And they haven’t sold any big names? Villa sold Young Downing, so now they are going to spend to replace. Seems to work for everyone else, but not us? And also any wages talk is bullhsit, you don’t pay wages out of transfer revenue, and our wage bill can not have increased that much. We have got rid of two high earners, and one low earner, and so what, wages should be budgeted for.

I don’t normally agree with Angryman, but he is right on this one, what he said is coming eerily true so far.

Everyone says how we have only added a couple here and a couple of extras due, so squad is not growing.

There are plenty of young lads who are getting to the age where they need to step up to the first team, they cant languish in the reserves forever. These lads get older every year, how long will we go on saying “he’s too young”.

Fergie came through last year, and in my opinion he looked the part, he didn’t really look out of his depth.

Time for Vuckic, Tavernier etc. to follow his lead.

so everyone keeps saying that Ashlet has proven he’ll spend on the right player with bids for Gameiro/Gervinho etc, I think this, if true proves more and more that he’ss only willing to bid big for players he knows WONT come. If he was willing to spend £10m on Gameiro and £12m on Gervinho how are the same prices too much for N’Zogbia nd Matuidi

Pardew knows what we wants? bums off seats type of players? I am sorry but this is very poor.

I am a really positive person here and try to be with the cash we have/havent got this is a real shame, if that was the plan to spend on wages then why not say that? “we have 35 mil but for the stability of the club these will go on wages” not happy but fine, bit of honest… its almost like theyve lied/not informed.

Odds on for Pardew to get sacked? might stick a tenner on it.

Fat Aslhley and his puppet Alan Pardew are complete idiots and have AND always will treat us fans as mud on their shoes, im fed up of hearing and wont accept that ”ben arfa & dan gosling are like new signing”.. why dont they just tell the truth and tell us ”we aint going to sign anyone, but we are going to pretend were after players to shut you fans up!!!”* RANT OVER*

Cueg idiots saying “Keegan is bitter/loser/coward etc etc”, but ignoring the court case where it was proved they bidded for players knowing it would get rejected, and fed the public fake pr to make themselves look better.

Ive been saying this all along, Fat Ash will not spend another dime this summer!! Sell….yeah I can see a player or two leaving probably on the final day of the window, ashley wont replace them and will blame there wasnt enough time left, like the N’Zogbia saga after Carroll leaving, this will happen every transfer window! We APPARENTLY offered 12.5M for Zog on the final minute last window, why havent we offered another bid? Lies lies lies!!!

We must be looking around the 6/7 million mark for that striker we have ‘bid’ for then. Give up on Erdinc, go for Long, get him through the door and into training.

I dont care how much we spend as long as we get a striker, right winger and some defensive cover in.

If we spent 10 million on 3 players I would be over the moon as long as they were top

Equally, we could spend nothing and get 3 players and if they do the job, I’m happy. The money involved does not interest me and does not make a better player.

I have to ask the question.
With Jonas, Marveuax, Fergie and HBA all able to play left side midfield, why to people see the need to spend 9mil on yet another left sided winger?

We need someone on the right other than Barton?

I pity Pardew! The man must be pretty hard up to vstay in a job where he has to front up to the toon army and try to justify the tight arsed ways of his boss.
When hes’s had enough of being Cashleys mouthpiuece and resigns he’ll probably make a half decent poltician! Full of spin and half truths.
The man hasn’t had an ounce of credibility since big A.C was sold against his wishes.

NUFC RICHY – !) no-one pays wages upfront, and certainly not out of transfer fees, why would you do that? so if you sell no-one you can;t pay anyone? that makes sense
    2) so you know better than coaches/managers that these players from the academy are good enough to play PL. Fergie made it sure, but what about Ranger, hardly been a amassive success, so your idea is to throw them i at the deep end, ruin their careers and confidence if they do badly?

Honestly man why do you feel the need to constantly make excuses for Fat Ash, what is that about? Open your eyes and see what is happening to your own club. Its fans like you that allow him to carry on like this, because you are actually on here defending it!!! unreal

Im normally very positive about the Ashley regime, normally one of those that mentions how well Ashely is keeping the club afloat like mentioned earlier.

BUT now im getting frustrated and annoyed. Player wages taken into account ? Whaaat? If i took a 6 yr contract in my career i wouldnt get it paid alp upfront in one bulk.

The lack of money signings is really beginning to eff me off. Why did we “bid” for some and not others. Beginning to doubt .

And like some guys have said on here, you don’t go into a car showroom saying how much money you actually have to spend

You must factor in the departurew of El Bullo and Barton. They are getting sold for sure, and once they’re gone we are in a much worse position than January.
35million in the kitty and we havent brought in one PROVEN top flight player!

The fact there is zero communication from board to fans, exept via pardew, who lost all credabillity after AC departure, makes fans worry we may be bieng robbed.

It seems our chunky owner has turned some into accountants instead of football fans !!

Totally agree Richy. The young players have something to prove. I am very interested of what Vuckinic can do in the first team.

I also think and certainly hope that the club does these statements that we have put the Carroll money into wages and so on so will make other clubs stop mugging us for money everytime we are interested in a player. They know we have the money to spend so it would be wise to make these statements.

I hope the club will spend wise money if there is a player they believe in signing. As many have said before me, there are 7 weeks left of the transfer window. Calm the f**k down!

I heard some of the Money went into improving the training ground? Anybody seen any evidence of this?

Forget the £35m and where’s the transfer budget for the summer? or did that just not exist once we got the £35m?

Saying the Free transfers are expensive is ridiculous sure there’s a signing on fee and agents fees its hard to believe they’d be over £1m for a free agent.

Why does no other club use Signing on Fee’s and Agent Fee’s as an excuse?

Why does no other club take money out the kitty to pay for wages?

Sponsorship, Merchandise, Match Day Income, Broadcast Money, Cooperate Hospitality, Season Ticket Money, End of Season Prize Money, Player Sales. This money should be going towards Wages each year with left over being reinvested.

Matuidi would have been backup for Tiote – fee was too high for that.

Mr Ashley obviously rewards hard work since he’s paying £90 million in bonuses to his employees in Sports Direct, so he does shell out, especially when the employees earn him £200 million. So what is the difference at the Toon ? We all know he has put extra loans into the club, but with the new Sky money and commercial sponsorships, he should have had a chunk of it back by now. One thing is for certain, if we don’t invest in good players now, we won’t attract better ones to come here next year – that is if we are still in
the Premiership. So argue about fees as much as you like but I reckon that we have spent £5m Net. Anyway, Ashley was supposed to be making £15 million available this year, regardless of the Carroll money, so the arguments from Pards and The board are falling on deaf ears.
