Can Barton Resurrect His Career at Newcastle – We Think So

Joey Barton has had trouble in his career, we all know that.

Joey Barton – we hope this player stays with Newcastle for a few years yet

And he’s still paying for his past misdemeanors,  with not being given a Visa so he can tour America with the rest of the lads, starting tomorrow, which was really an expected outcome.

The American government is fairly consistent on these things, and will not give any exceptions to sportsmen or anybody else for that matter.

The good news from the Newcastle Evening  Chronicle today, is that there appears to be no animosity between Barton and the Newcastle hierarchy, and things are now much  better between the two parties, and maybe Joey will even get an  extension of his contract.

It’s hard to fault Joey’s complete commitment to Newcastle over the last couple of years, and while he had problems in the past, you get the feeling he is really trying to put his past firmly behind him, and become a better and more mature person.

It’s always great to see that, when a person can overcome his demons, because it’s never easy, for any of us,  as most of us old-timers know only too well.

We like Joey a lot, but we’d love him to give up that Twitter account, because it could get him into trouble in the future,  we’re very nervous about his tweets.

😀

Alan Pardew seems to get on great with Joey, and it could be if he had signed that contract in January he could have been the new Newcastle captain – who knows?

Pardew is resigned to losing Jose Enrique, and that’s  simply because Jose wants to leave Tyneside, and that’s fine,  he should do that.

We’ve had four good years from the Spaniard, but he now wants to move on and it would be better for the club if they sell him this summer – so  Newcastle can get close to say £10M for him.

That would be great – but whether that money would be fully reinvested we don’t think so,  but we do think the club would bring a in very good replacement for Jose at less than £10M.

This is what Alan Pardew said today, about a possible new deal for Joey at Newcastle:

“You never know – it can be resolved as we go along.”

“If we get a strong year from him on the playing side and his conduct stays the same, then he’s going to have not just us looking to do a contract with him but many others.”

“That’s the position we’re in.”

Joey Barton will head to Holland on the club’s Reserve tour, rather than traveling to America, and he has handled his disappointment with maturity,  and has even come across  positively, as he told people he was trying his best to improve himself.

With Kevin Nolan having left the club rather surprisingly this summer, Joey becomes even more important in terms of continuity for the side, with the new players that have come in this summer,  so far.

Alan continued:

“I think Joey will be an important player for us this season.”

“With Kevin Nolan going, Joey is important to the group and has been terrific this season.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him play.”

We think there’s a chance, maybe even a good chance, that Joey can get an extension to his contract – to stay on Tyneside – and we’re really hoping that happens.

We think Joey deserves it.

Comments welcome.

After seeing the formation last night I am excited about season to come.

4-2-3-1 Is one of the best formations in this mordern game.

Alot of the top teams use a variation of this and 4-3-3

So i would LOVE to see this type
    ————-Krul—————-
    Simpson–Taylor–Colo–NEW LB–
    ——–Cabaye—Tiote———
    –Barton—–Ben Arfa—Maveroux or Jonas–
    ————–Ba or New No.9——-

Thats a GREAT looking team and so many other players not included.

JB should get a new contract. I was annoyed with his outspokenness (nothing if you compare to other players off field behaviour) but he always puts 100% on the pitch, which is most important

Oh, so the big announcement that were to be announced yesterday were the club statement about the pitch invaders?

    MA can predict the future.

Actually dreamt that the announcement were that the Qatar group were buying up Darlington the other day. That would have been typical NUFC luck.

Pardew’s comments above are so patronising. Barton HAS cleaned up his act, leads by example and wouldn’t be linked with the likes of Villa, Arsenal and Everton if he hadn’t been a top performer for us last season.

I could see the footballing logic of letting Nolan go, but Barton is different – technically more than capable of holding his own in a passing, fluid team. I would have made him captain and put a bumper contract in front of him this summer…

More stupidity from the club I’m afraid.

Bearing in mind the twisted owner – ok I can see that his comments were silly, despite the fact they are the plain and simple truth,,, someone has the balls to say the truth and stand up to a dark and malevolent owner and you all slate him!

the issue with Barton is that he can’t keep his mouth shut, slagging off the the owner/his boss was only ever going to lead to this impasse. He needs to keep him mouth shut and just play football and allow his playing to get him the contract he deserves

There are plenty people pointing out how bad MA is Barton doesnt need to throw his hat into it in all fairness

I think he just didnt think about the consequences during his charity do comments and his twitter outbursts

If he had thought about it and not made such comments he would have his contract now in all fairness

WWJBD – How do you know it would have been resolved? Bearing in mind Nolan and shola – two other senior players with a year left on their contract haven’t been offered new deals, everything points towards the club looking to get established players on old salary structures off the books..

If they were given new contracts I would agree. Nolan was offered an incentivised contract,, barton is being told to go and earn his contract AGAIN… can you not see what is really happening here,, it’s pot at the end of the rainbow stuff.. there is no new contract..

It’s totally bogus PR spin, the true dark dealings of the owners go beyond our expectations every single time… and still the cheerleaders come on here and try to rationalise each and every bewildering cost-cutting move. saying we have this young, fantastic new side,, no we funking don’t we have cheaper, unproven replacements- names we vaguely know, and a few minutes on youtube to go off.

God, how moronic. Oh well. Those guys will learn the hard way with long bans probably. Not that I would wish that upon anyone, but you reap what you sow.

It must have been some personal provocation between those involved though, not that it’s okay to let your fist do the talking.

It’s just as reasonable to suggest that even if we don’t know the players then the management and our currently excellent scouts do. I’d still prefer to see Barton stay.

too early to judge if they are a fantastic young side seeing as the league hasn’t even started yet. Who knows how they will do you could be spot on and we could get relegated again but then they could prove you wrong and finish top half. It’s far too early to be predicting things and i would say that have a few french caps (Cabaye) is pretty proven. If you mean EPL proven fair do’s but there is only one way to become EPL proven

We also know he, since January, has been slagging off the owner and club management. Both him and Jose turned down new contracts at the beginning of the year and he thinks he is the best english midfielder around.

Two sides to every coin but lets not argue as its pointless mate
