As we had suspected, Newcastle plan to give life bans to those disorderly fans who invaded the pitch in the second half last night at Darlington, in the 2-0 win.
Alan Pardew – shocked by what he witnessed last night
And we cannot stress enough how those actions have , as Alan Pardew said today
“Brought shame on everyone connected with Newcastle United.”
Newcastle will direct an immediate inquiry and look at video of the crowd disorder on Friday night, that saw two pitch invasions by hundreds of Newcastle fans, some of whom were seen holding bottles of alcohol.
The English FA have already been in touch with the Newcastle club about the trouble, and they will launch an independent investigation of their own, that will almost certainly bring the Tyneside club some punishment, exactly what that may be we don’t know.
Darlington could also face some punishment, if it is found that security arrangements were lacking.
Of course, as we reported this morning, there was also an incident outside the stadium before the game, when angry Newcastle fans surrounded Managing Director Derek Llambias and verbally abused the Newcastle official.
Pardew said today:
“We came to play a football match and to provide entertainment for a family audience.”
“Instead we witnessed some truly appalling behavior which damages the reputation of this club and the majority of our supporters.”
It was obvious that Alan Pardew, who went onto the pitch to calm down the fans and restore some kind of order, and he is to be applauded for that, was still somewhat shocked by what he saw last night.
And news is that Newcastle have obtained TV pictures from Sky Sports and also from their own camera crew – and both video streams will be used to identify those who were responsible, and shamed the Newcastle club.
We hope this is the last pitch invasion we will see from those few fans, who have tarnished the name of a famous football club.

Comment #41Fork me some of you are miserable sods. I understand the people who mention their children and violence but if entering the field of play in a friendly is something you deem so serious for a life time ban then im guessing your one of those people that dont ever break the law. Dont speed when driving etc etc otherwise i guess youre just hypocrites. I wasnt there but im not gonna lie i think the fact they invaded the pitch after sameobi scored is comical and its a shame the violence ruined it, if it was a premier league game i might think differently but it was a meaningless friendly. Punish the lot of em eh, forking hooligans

Comment #42queue the onslaught, makes me wonder why i think differently to others. I dont have a criminal record so its not like i condone or partake in illegal activites i just dont think the invasion (not the violence) was that serious on this occasion.

Comment #43Thanks for speaking some sense nick
Here’s an amusing quote I found
” In January “the 35mil will be invested back into the team”
In August “the 35mill will not leave the CLUB”
Last night “if Sammy scores we’re on the pitch”
At least the fans keep to their word!”

Comment #45nick_9 – You say invading the pitch is comical not serious because it was just a friendly? Only clowns would make a statement like that pal.
IMO any fan who runs on the pitch during a game should be banned for life whether they commit violence or not. The club needs to be ruthless in identifying and banning those involved at Darlo. How thick is anyone who thinks it is funny to chant ‘If Sammy scores we are on the pitch’ and then do it? How thick is anyone who thinks that might not lead to violence with opposing fans? How thick is anyone who thinks that the FA will get the joke and have a laugh as well?
Any fan on here who was involved or who condones the pitch invasion in any way should hang their heads in shame.

Comment #46Watch them make an example out of Newcastle and deduct us points while turning a blind eye to trouble at the West Ham and Millwall game a few years a go.

Comment #47toonarmy1986 – there is a simple way not to be made an example – don’t run on the pitch in the fn first place.

Comment #48I don’t condone the violence and think the pitch invasion was abit ridiculous, but seems it’s just been a joke gone bad! But to suggest that anyone who entered the pitch to get a lifetime ban is insane! Half of st.James would be banned after the play offs against Sunderland when we tryed to get the game stopped! People up and down the country would be getting bans left right and centre for over celebrating! Ban the fighters but not the rest!

Comment #49No one should get banned apart from those starting the fights, although it was a Darlington fans fault.
No one got banned when we invaded the pitch against Plymouth?

Comment #50yes great lets ban all those that shamed our club, lets start with those found to be lying in a court case to all the fans, lets start with Ashley Llambias, two confirmed liars. then lets ban those odious pricks that ran naked on the pitch, theirs Llambias banned again, lets ban those seen drinking in the stands, oh theirs ashley banned again, I don’t condone the idiots that ran on the pitch but those at the top have shamed the club more than the fans ever have.

Comment #51dave1961 – So you can run on the pitch as long as you don’t clock somebody? You want that as the ‘rule’ ?!
Don’t be daft man, the only way to get the message through to any thicko who runs on the pitch during a game is to automatically ban them for life. No ifs, no buts BANNED FOR LIFE.
Suggesting you have to clock somebody for it to be serious is an absolute joke. I go to SJP to watch professional fottballers running round the pitch not some drunken lout stopping the game, disgracing our club and risking us a points deduction.
Comparing the trouble at Darlo with what MA DL have done is just typical of the bigots in your camp. Any connection, excuse or reason to MA and DL is nonsense. Absolute nonsense.

Comment #53As I expected people are saying everyone who invaded the pitch should get lifetime bans, absolutely ridiculous. Good to see that banter still exists. Seems like no-one can have a laugh at a footy match now.

Comment #55I think people need to get off their high horses and see the bigger picture.
Yes, I was on the pitch that night as I followed my friend (There was only the two of us to I felt responsible for his safety). I deeply regret the 30 seconds or so that I was on that pitch and also feel deeply ashamed.
Have you ever had “God I wish I never done that” moment? Because that’s what I thought immediately after, it’s easy to look back and say it was wrong but it isn’t as easy to realise when your in the thick of it.
I’m merely 14 and no, I wasn’t one of them rowdy teenagers with cans and bottles. I would be devastated if I was banned for life just because of something stupid I did for a few seconds on a friday night (it’s called learning from your mistakes).
I have a medical problem and rarely get out so football is my main social lifeline and I’d feel like my life was over if that was took away from me so instead of labeling everyone involved as hooligans that should be banned for life think of the bigger picture.

Comment #56Bills-son haha guess im a clown then but i absolutely stand by my original point. If it was a premier league game it would have been a more serious, surely im not the only one to think that. I’ll even go as far as saying that i found the streaker funny during the 5:1 win over the mackems. You think the way you do and i think the way i do. You seem a very serious person and very set in your ways. Calling me a clown is a little uncalled for to be honest
