As we reported last weekend, it seems that Mevlut Erdinc’s agent, Pierre Frelot, is the one holding up the deal to bring the Turkish striker to Newcastle.
Pierre Frelot – wants bonus from Newcastle
And new news today in the Sunday Sun, is that Erdinc has even agreed terms with Newcastle, but the £7.5m transfer is still in serious doubt, and probably will not happen, after an argument about bonuses with his agent, Pierre Frelot.
As we understand it, Frelot wants a bonus if Newcastle sign his client, and Newcastle are unwilling to pay that.
And of course it would appear that Erdinc will lose his first team place at PSG next season, and a move to Newcastle would appear to be a good career move for the striker.
But it seems that in order to finally push through the move, the 24 year-old would need to change his agent, and that’s unlikely to happen.
Newcastle have been getting lots of offers from agents for their players, and news is the club were even offered Preston’s David Nugent last week, before he moved to Leicester City, but Newcastle were not interested in the former England U21 International.
We expect to see a new striker in before the season starts in mid-August, and a full back is another priority, but that will be it for this summer, unless players leave the club, and they will then be replaced.
It would be good to move Jose Enrique out, and bring in another good young full back, and bring that long-running soap opera to an end.
