As we mentioned earlier today, one of the lads to watch out for this season in the Reserve team squad is teenager Yven Moyo.
Yven Moyo – this lad has skills galore
This very promising player, who turned 19 last March, has played for the France Under-18 side, and caught the attention of Manchester United about three years ago as a 16-year-old.
And last September he arrived at Newcastle, following a trial on Tyneside, and signed a four-year contract with the club.
We were pleased to see that 18 year-old Frenchman Mehdi Abeid seems to have made an instant impact on Tyneside, and he has looked good both in training and during Friday night’s game at Darlington.
Yven is a similar type of player, and usually plays on the left hand side of midfield, and Newcastle will be hoping they can turn him into the finished article, and that he can become a top player for the Tyneside club.
Reserve Team Coach Peter Beardsley certainly seems to be a firm believer in the 6′ tall youngster, as he had this to say last season after one of Yven’s promising performances:
“I really like him,” “He really can play and he was very good today.”
“He’s definitely got ability and he showed it today.”
“He was great to watch, caused problems throughout his time on the pitch and scored a good goal.”
And Yven scored a goal and looked impressive in the Reserve’s 2-1 win at Berwick Rangers a few days ago.
The boy did have a set-back to his short Newcastle career late last year, and as with other youngsters Haris Vuckic and Tamas Kadar, he was injured and missed a lot of last season.
But he’s fit again and we look forward to seeing him come through the ranks, hopefully rather quickly this season.
Here’s Yven’s facebook page if you’d like to leave him a message of support.
