Alan Pardew seems to be a big believer in sending youngsters out on loan, so they can get regular first team games.
Sammy Ameobi – on loan next season?
That seems the very best way to develop the youngsters, and Alan has already sent 20 year-old Kazenga LuaLua on loan again to Brighton down south.
And it seems the Newcastle manager is also ready to send two more youngsters out on loan, in England U20 International Ryan Donaldson and Shola’s younger brother, 19 year-old 6’3″ Sammy Ameobi.
Indeed Sammy has looked more than useful when he has appeared in the Newcastle first team recently, and of course scored Newcastle’s second goal at Darlington on Friday evening.
Ameobi was going to be on Newcastle’s American tour, but it turns out he was not on the plane to Kansas City yesterday.
Ryan Donaldson was also missing, but it seems both lads will be part of the Reserve team trip to Holland, and the party is due to depart tomorrow for that tour, and Joey Barton is part of that trip.
Pardew did hand Ryan a new contract at Newcastle earlier this summer, and we expect Sammy to get a new deal soon too.
Both lads were born and bred in Newcastle, and it’s always good to have a decent representation of local lads in the Newcastle side.
And Pardew talked about the youngsters from the Newcastle base camp in Kansas City today:
“We’ve always said that the younger players will be loaned out.” “They can really learn a lot on loan.”
“Ryan and Sammy are candidates for a loan deal this season, as are the likes of Michael Richardson and James Tavernier.”
Donaldson had a good loan spell at Hartlepool United earlier this year, and James Tavernier was on loan at Gateshead at the same time, and both lads gained from the experience of playing regular first team football.
Pardew had this to say about Ryan:
“Ryan’s still got a bit to do.” “He’s only a young player, and he needs a bit more time.”
“This is a big year for him. All the lads I mention are players who could really do with going out on loan, and at some point they will – 100 per cent.”
We had thought some of our younger players like Tavernier, Donaldson, LuaLua, Ferguson, Vuckic, Kadar and the like, would help to form a bigger squad this coming season.
But if Alan is going to send a number of them out on loan, it looks like the first team squad will again be paper thin next season.
Are we missing something here?
Comments very welcome.

Comment #81I don’t really know what his good point is then haha. I’ve not seen too many good crosses but i suppose he doesn’t get to the by line where that cross was from as he doesn’t overlap properly. Belfast you’re right. He stands off far far too much and i can think of at least 3 goals he cost us doing it

Comment #82If it’s £11.5m that’s a good deal for us and we should go for izzaguirre at Celtic for £4-5m + forster? Watched him a lot and he is almost like for like with jose

Comment #84NUFC_Richyg01 everybody is missing the crucial point on this enrique link, HE WANTS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL and liverpool will be in F**K all this season so if i where el torro i would tell LIVERFOOLS to go F**K themselves i want to join a BIG club not a club that used to be big.

Comment #85Bit harsh on Danny Simpson imo
Pretty decent at putting a ball in when given the chance but Barton limits them because putting balls in is his sole purpose on the wing.
As for defending he is pretty solid for the most part (does back off a fair bit but a good preseason could sort that out) and does most all his defending sole unless Colo or Willo/Saylor move accross to give him back up
Give the lad a chance he is our best option at RB and earned a lot of respect in football from the first portion of the season even touted for a England call up

To be honest I don’t care, I think its great business and I would prefer to cash in and get something for him, it would be heartbreaking to see him leave for nothing

Comment #89L’pool could get CL football though BoomBoom. We aren’t really going to. Plus he’s more chance getting in spain squad there than he has with us. The pro’s outweigh the cons for jose moving to l’pool in his perspective. Chance of CL, better players about him, bigger stage to play on (from international perspective)

I think with a consistent player in front of him who he can build an understanding with, then Simmo can improve his game massively.

Comment #91Liverpool wont pay 11.5 mill for him, he isnt English, 6-8 mill is max we would get and, to my memory, Liverpool refused to match our contract offer plus they are very close to signing a LB from France

Comment #93On the topic, i wouldnt Loan out Sammy, he is an Impact player much like Ranger was (Altho Ranger didnt score) he livened up the attack and brought danger with his runs, Ameobi does the same, looked very good at Chelsea off bench then off bench at Darlinghton scored a goal.
Id Keep Sammy/Tav/Vuckic as if we loan em out we’d have no backup at all
Andy@
Danny is decent, his biggest problem is he doesnt close down the attackers he holds off and allows then to the byline or to cut inside 9times outta 10, you cannot do that and that was why nearly EVERY attack came down his side, Id prefer Tav over Simmo tbh

They refused to pay the quoted £15m for him.
I think if Enrique can get playing at a higher level and then possibly for Spain, then he may sign on lesser terms IMO

Comment #97WWJBD i agree with you and i’ve stuck up for simmo quite a bit on here. Just think he can go a lot further than he currently is. I also agree that the lack of pre-season was a struggle for him as it was his first season being a first choice rb in the prem and any pre-season would’ve been a benefit

Comment #102Belfast… So far liverpool have signed all the british players man u didnt want and been massively overpriced on all of them. Man u, chelsea, arsenal and city are still well ahead of liverpool. Only two players i rate as world class at liverpool are suarez (even tho he is a cheat) and reina and even he wasnt at his best last season, gerrard is ageing and becomeing injury prone and carroll will get alot of injuries with the way he lands when he jumps.

Comment #104tavernier,richardson, sameobi, donaldson should all be sent out on loan for 6 months until th janurary transfer window then re-assese the situation with them and see how they have progressed. sell smith, xisco, loan ranger and buy at least another striker and a young up and coming centre back to challenge williamson for 3rd choice centre half. then we will be sorted

Comment #112Wondering if asking price for Sturridge may go down?
http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2011/07/18/2579951/chelsea-prepared-to-let-daniel-sturridge-go-to-make-room-for-22m-
This would at least make the loan easier to do with an option to buy.

Comment #116Ha! I actually think those Scouse louses have paid wads and wads of dosh to go sideways.
Let’s say they field a midfield three of Gerrard (up until his injury, at the top of Optas’ charts for most misplaced passes, last season), Henderson and Adam. I think Tiote, Barton and Cabaye are superior. Tiote will monster Henderson and Adam all on his own! 🙂
Then they’ve got drippy Downing – total rubbish, in my opinion. Looks like a wuss, is a wuss, give him a cruncher in the opening minutes, he disappears.
Young Fergy will be better than him. And Downing was clearly second-choice, to Marveaux.
Nothing to be afraid of, we can match them this season, no doubt. All we need is a ST, preferably Sturridge. I really think him and Ben Arfa could strike up a great partnership, similar to HBA/Benzema, and really illuminate SJP.
HTL!! 😀
