Peter Beardsley In Praise Of Ashley Regime

Peter Beardsley has always been supportive of the Mike Ashley regime.

Peter Beardsley – not many clubs would have Reserve team tour

And last night Peter praised the club’s hierarchy for arranging an eight-day tour of Holland for his Reserve team squad.

We must say we were a little surprised, but also impressed that the club has arranged the tour of Holland for the youngsters, as well as the 10 day tour of America for the senior squad, which started yesterday.

With Joey Barton and Nile Ranger both unable to get visas for the American trip, they have been included in the Reserve side tour, and Joey will have a big impact on the youngsters in Holland.

The Reserves beat Berwick Rangers 2-1 in their first pre-season game at Shielfield Park, and this is what Peter said after that game:

“There are not many clubs who would send a reserve side on a tour like this to a foreign country and it will be brilliant for the players.”

“From my point of view I will be able to see the players in action on the pitch and also how they handle themselves in the down time. It will be a test of character.”

“I knew this game against Berwick would be a reasonable workout for our opener and I was not disappointed.”

“I was pleased with the performance of the players. It was never about the result because at this stage it is all about getting the fitness levels up.”

“We do not play our first competitive match until the end of August and these games are important.”

It’s an excellent move by Ashley and Llambias to sponsor the tour for the youngsters,  because it also sends a message to the youngsters that they are a very important part of the future of the Tyneside club,  and that’s so true.

One youngster we will be keeping an eye on this coming season is top French teenager  Yven Moyo, who scored after 40 minutes last night, after he beat two defenders before nicely slotting home.

This lad is a left sided midfielder, and was a top  youngster when Newcastle acquired him from French club Souchaux only last September.

Newcastle substitute Brandon Miele scored Newcastle’s second goal on 71 minutes with a good effort, and McLaren scored the sole Berwick goal on 74 minutes, after he had been fouled in in the box.

And for all the Cashley bummers on here, who hack on about, its the arsenal blueprint, its the arsenal method blah blah blah, we are not Arsenal, and we do not spend more than 5m on any one player…..Arsenal spend 15 on a star player almost every year, why….its called speculate to accumulate, at the same time as improving the team greatly!!

    Ding ding, round 1.

There is no better country where the lads can prepare for a new season!

Thing is i,ve been trying for the last couple of days to find out where they are playing so i can maybe get to go and see them!

After numerous attempts on google and a few searches on the NUFC website! I,ve given up the quest for info!!
Hope they take a scout with them, as there could be more Tiotes somewhere across here!

Angryman – I’m not going to argue on the cashley thing cos its making me dizzy going round in circles, however, when arsenal were developing and 2 of the key members of the invincible squad had a combined fee of 2m (ish) vieira and henry so you can see where the theory of arsenal style comes from

Angry, we are not getting into the Champions League every year. Arsenal never spend that on two or three players like the other debt ridden clubs. We are hopefully working our way up to that level. Instead of 15 mill on a star player our max is prob around 5-7 million. Plus the carrol money and money that Ash will/may/may not put in himself.

I think the players we got are so much better than what people on here like your self gives credit for.

I truly believe we will build year on year. And progress slowly but surely. What is the point spending masses amounts of money for 2 or 3 years down the line for our manager to say yes we have to sell before we can buy.

Of course that is one way, like Spurs for example. They have debts all over the place and a lot of mediocre players. We have mediocre players that at least want to play for this club. Plus some top class players.

We are progressing, mark my words!!!

Certianly not a bad thing eaststandgeordie1982.

I like Evertons style, they hav eyoungsters coming through all the time, and good team spirit.

I personally think we will develop somewhere inbetween Arsenal’s and Everton’s regime’s.

Sorry eaststandgeordie1982 but I don’t like everton at all I think, I think they are very mediocre.

I would not aspire to them at all. Got in to Champions league and then luster around. I think Newcastle will be more progressive. It seems to me that the board have learnt their lesson. And will now take head.

    Here is hopping anyway!

Bosamuelson we have been so under parr for a long time so to get to evertons standards is progress imo and if we keep improving which it looks like we are starting to do teams will look at us and say we want to be where newcastle are like they used to but to get there is going to take time but we will get there

But the lying and smoke screens has to stop, we are the fans and part of this club, he treat’s us like shit, and you would be a fool not to reconise that.
