Yohan Cabaye Misses American Trip Because Of Visa Problems

Surprise news this morning that new signing Yohan Cabaye is not on Newcastle’s trip to America.

Yohan Cabaye misses US trip with minor Visa problem

He will now play no part in the three game tour of America, and that’s  because there was a minor technical problem with his visa application – whatever that was.

At least Alan Pardew seems okay with things, as the Londoner told the Newcastle press corps today:

“Yohan will add something to us,   he’ll add a pass and an intelligence to our game, for sure.”  “The players have already seen that all three are good players.”

“It’s no good doing it just on the training ground. Your top players like Fabricio Coloccini and Joey Barton know fine well it is about the Premier League.”

“You want to see these players performing in the Premier League at their very best, hopefully we see that from Yohan and the new boys this year.”

“You want to see what they’re going to do for us, and only time will tell.”   “But at the moment they’re showing very well.”

News signings Sylvain Marveaux and Demba Ba are thankfully on the trip, so at least these two new signings will get some playing time for Newcastle in America.

And 18 year-old 6’3″ tall Slovenian U21 International,  Haris Vuckic,  will now get a chance to show whether he’s ready for the first team yet.

And  Yohan’s absence will also give a chance to another new signing, the impressive 18 year-old French midfielder,  Mehdi Abeid.

But unfortunately,  Danny Guthrie has  had another hamstring injury, which he picked up on Friday night at Darlington, after only 11 minutes of that game.

The very same thing happened last year  at this time, and the injury will again interrupt his pre-season big time, which is a real pity for the 24 year-old.

And other players that Newcastle can draw on in central midfield, while they are stateside, include Dan Gosling,  fit again after his serious ACL knee injury, Cheick Tiote, Alan Smith and Ryan Taylor.

It’s a pity about Yohan, but he can still get Newcastle games that are lined up when Newcastle return from America,  and they include the plum home tie against Fiorentina on the Saturday before the Premier League season starts.

Comments welcome.

For the future US is certainly not a good place for preseason training.

It’s good that in America have good facilities, but will be better if next time the team goin in some country where’s to take visa’s is not so problematic…

The club must have already known about this which would be why he was the only new signing to play on friday (apart from abeid who they were deciding on whether to take him or not) to at least get a bit of game time with his new team mates

These long-haul trips abroad are not ideal preparation.

Hughton’s Irish boot-camps worked very well.

They should’ve looked into this Visa issue quite some time ago, instead of the last min. The states is a great place to have a preseason, the facilities, fans, and let’s not forget the exposure the club will be getting over there is priceless. All the top teams are doing preseason in the USA now. Cabaye will also have the Leeds friendly which you forgot to mention Ed. 31st of July. I’ll be making my way down there since I live in Leeds.

What happens if the yanks host another world cup and some of the worlds best players have ‘visa problems’? Do fifa allow them to make a joke of the world cup? Something to think about isn’t it?!

Markaccus I doubt that would be a issue, Fifa take over the ruling of a country when they host the world cup so they would probably just change all the laws

You would think the club would sort out the Visa,s first and then arrange the tour!

Beginning to wonder if the whole U.S trip was a wise plan for pre-season preparation!
