We thought it would be interesting and beneficial to bring Alan Pardew’s interview with Orlando City to the Newcastle fans.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew
Here is the interview Alan gave yesterday, and the lads will play in the Citrus Bowl on Saturday evening at 7:30 pm, which is 12:30 am on Sunday morning in England.
The interviewer is Adam Soucie
How has your trip been so far overall?
“So far so good. We have had tremendous treatment here in Kansas City, Orlando has a tough act to follow. The facilities and the way we have been treated have been great.”
“We are very, very pleased with that and we hope Orlando will be the same in that regard. We have the game this evening, of course (Newcastle played Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday night – game ended in 0-0 draw), which is the most important part of our trip.”
What kind of overall expectations do you have for this trip?
“I think the level of competition is up considerably, the MLS has certainly raised their level of play. We will get the competition that we need to prepare for the Premier League.”
What do you expect out of the game against Orlando City?
“I think Orlando will give us a challenge on Saturday night. The match against Orlando will definitely be a tough one. All of this is preparing us for our upcoming season, so every game that gives us more experience is a good one.”
Are you worried about the heat and humidity down in Orlando, given that we are in a different climate than Kansas City and Columbus?
“The heat is definitely an issue. No matter where we play in America, it will be hot. We can’t do anything about that, we just have to play in whatever weather that day has in store for us. We might have to adjust a little bit, but nothing to major.”
Does being in a different climate help you guys prepare for your upcoming season?
“In England, most of our stadiums don’t have roofs on them. You can get that type of heat during the first couple of games, upwards of 90 degrees sometimes. It is not unusual.”
“But it is good that we are training in this heat. The benefit of all the training and work we are putting in now will certainly pay off later.”
When it comes to the games you play in the states, what is more important for you, winning the match or developing the fitness you need for the season?
“I almost want to say it is right down the middle. We want to adopt a winning mentality early on in the preseason, but at the same time I know how important it is to keep the health and fitness of the team in check.”
“We will try to protect our players, but we want to have that winning mentality and go for the win even if we are in a deficit.”
Good answers from Alan, who has to play the diplomat for Newcastle on this tour.
The game will kick off in Orlando on Saturday night at 7:30 pm at the Citrus Bowl.
And it seems that tickets are still available, starting at just $25.
Call 855-ORL-CITY (855-675-2489) to get a ticket.
Orlando are calling this week Newcastle week, as they are really looking forward to welcoming Newcastle today.
Comments welcome.

If this player has had to go for further scans it’s probably another one of Ashleys Crocks Army.
Owen Hargreaves? He’s knackered. Probably him then

Comment #128a personally reckon players are just gonna take a swipe at Benny boy now like hoping either he will pooh himself and back down or the fact they will just take a major threat from the game. i think tiote should be assigned to guard him ha ha n he could do it as he was the creator of giraffes from uppercutting horses ha ha ha 🙂

Ashley can take 100m a year out the club for all i care provided we are challenging for european and domestic honours.
You are entitled to your opinion but haway man, relagation at this point in the season is mental.

Comment #139Someone on here thinks we are short of LB’s but we seem pretty well covered at left back to be honest wii Enrique, Ferguson (NI international), Tavernier and Dummett (Wales U21). We really need a centre back and centre forward tho!
