Ben Arfa Will Now Fly Home From America

We really hope it’s not serious but it seems Ben Arfa’s American tour is over.

Ben Arfa – will fly back to Newcastle

Hatem Ben Arfa sustained an injury to his left ankle after 30 minutes of last night’s game against Sporting Lisbon, following another strong tackle on the Frenchman.

That’s the same leg that he broke in two places last October 3rd at Eastlands, in the Premier league game against Manchester  City.

Newcastle have reported that the French International immediately went to a local hospital for a precautionary x-ray, although no news was given about the results of that x-ray.

But Ben Arfa will take no further part in the American tour and will fly home to Newcastle to get treatment, and that means Newcastle have lost three palyers – Danny GGuthrie, Shane Ferguson and now Ben Arfa in their first two pre-season matches.

We’ve still got at least four pre-season games to go – so heaven knows who will be missing for the first games against Arsenal on 13th August.

To say Newcastle don’t have a big enough squad is now starting to look more and more true, especially if the Tyneside club keep picking up injuries like this.

The Newcastle club are saying the French International will fly home tomorrow and the injury will be further assessed over the next 48 hours.

That’s not great news, to say the least, and this will be the big news on last night’s game.

Comments welcome.

i guess if need be he can train in England

or in France at clairefontaine, would not be lost there

Just showed after arfa got injured that we are completely lacking in players for cover, nobody seemed to know what to do after he left the field, we seem to be completely based around Benny and i have servere worries about the size of the squad after that game.

This squad is far too small, can someone please help me figure out were the goals come from ?

Its so frustrating because on paper we have a top team. 2 French internationals, 1 Argentine international, 1 Ivory coast international, 1 Dutch international, 1 Senagalese international ect.

    1 Striker
1 Lb (2 if jose goes)
    1 Rw
    1 Cb
This in my opinion is the minimum we need.

    Indian Magpie,
yes i know who replaced him but i’m saying the squad had no shape and no direction after he left the field it shows because we hardly had a shot on goal after Ben Arfa departure.

thanks for reminding me about barton and cabeye, these two could well make the differance and puts a differant light on what i said above but i still think we are way too small as a squad

Minor follow up injuries are common after recovery from a serious injury. The body has to get used to the heavy toll that pro sport puts on it. Supposedly just a twisted ankle. No need to panic. People saying we are going to relegated because of this need mental help. Calm down

This is always going to be a problem with HBA – on the plus side young Mehdi seems a confident talent. On another note why is it Newcastle always have disastrous pre seasons (sackings/player misdemeanours/late sales etc etc etc) we are always a laughing stock.

I have been saying for weeks that the squad is paper thin. We have FOUR more friendlies yet to play, God knows how many more injuries we will pick up in those. At this rate we will end up with Harper in Midfield, Llambias on the wing and Forster up front against Arsenal. Or worse still Shola…….. ha ha ha

Theres only one Kieron Dyer. Thank F****k. Lazy little impostor, oxygen thief. Please dont even mention Hatem Ben Arfa in the same breath as this waste of space. Benny is simply having some very bad luck and possibly may be targetted because of his sublime skills and danger to opposing teams.

Hear the sound of chickens coming home to roost? Vuckic, Ben Arfa, and Ferguson injured, lightweight up front, and Kansas getting on the end of cross balls in the air at will. What’s changed? Cluck, cluck.

    Apparently HBA isn’t coming home…. from NUFC.com:

‘Pardew confirmed post-match that the French midfielder had gone for a precautionary X-ray but that he believed Ben Arfa was OK and his Stateside tour wasn’t over.’

No surprise whatsover considering the temperatures our players are playing in over in the states. It’s completely foolish taking a squad of unfit players to play in such a climate, foolish in terms of fooball but perhaps the US Tour isn’t just about football, looks more like a PR stunt to consolidate a US fanbase. Maybe I’m just too cynical but why else would MA fund a tour to the US?

    @34:
Contrary to this, I believe that the players will benefit (fitness wise) from playing a team who are currently mid season. However, they could have done this by going to Norway, where temperatures are kinder and the football is technical and not simply ‘get up and at em’ like the MLS (allegedly). I would prefer to mmet Arsenal with a fully prepped team than one which has drubbed Easington, Scringeworth Town Reserves, and Mucklefield terriers as a pre season preparation. The injuries are part and parcel, having a thin squad is simply negligence.

I’d say it is people who overlook the fact that our squad is paper thin are in need of ‘mental help’. The panic is justifiable as HBA’s injury, serious or not, highlights our dire need for numbers, and quality back-up. Going on your theory the same could just as easily happen to Gosling and Marveux, even Ba, where then would that leave us considering many are pampering these players as our main source of ‘skillful’ entertaining, ‘bums off seats’ football?

    @35

Not contrary to my point at all: I also believe the players will benefit (fitness wise) from playing against teams in mid-season as oppose to playing lower league teams. I also believe they will benefit in terms of bonding as a group in going on a pre-season tour, but as you say, why not somewhere with a more moderate climate? One possible reason is that a tour of US promotes the image of Newcastle@Sports Direct, a wise business move for MA if only it wasn’t so stupid in terms of football. Again, maybe I’m blinded in my hate of MA but anyone can see as clear as day that our squad is too small and so our new hero HBA’s injury should be a catalyst for some transfer activity.

Jimmymagpie, Im REALLY starting to get sick of you now bud!

You are NOT a newcastle United Supporter, EVERY SINGLE comment you post is negative, I have NEVER seen a positive comment from you which leads me to believe you do not support NUFC. Dont get me wrong there are people on here who whine a lot but when something good happens they comment on that too, ALL you post is negative tripe.

In january Enrique was going to Man U, then when the press said he was going to Liverpool you said you knew someone who worked for the toon and it was a cert he we off to LFC, then the other day you were like hes going to Arsenal by the end of this month, funnily enuff there was a piece out an hour earlier in the press that arsene said he was interested.

MATE YOUR BORING, IRRITATING, AND DOWNRIGHT ANNOYING, GIVE IT A REST MAN FFS!!!!
