After the 0-0 draw last night in Kansas City against Sporting Kansas, Newcastle will now fly to Orlando, Florida,
Newcastle have a game against Orlando City on Saturday evening, but there will be just a little let-up in the heat, which is gripping America right now, due to a high pressure system over the mid-west.
The kick off time is 7:30 pm eastern time, which is 12:30 on Sunday morning in Newcastle.
It reached 100 degrees F here in Raleigh yesterday, but the five day forecast for Orlando shows it will be a little cooler with highs only in the low to mid 90s.
It may feel a little chilly for the lads after the Kansas heat, and I understand from my wife, that the weather in Newcastle is rain, rain and more rain.
After the Saturday evening game the team heads back to the mid-west, and they will face MLS side Columbus Crew on Wednesday evening and will then fly home on the Thursday.
Wonder if the lads will get to visit Disney World or many of the holiday attractions in Orlando – probably not.
The weather in Orlando will again be very humid with the humidity generally something above 70%, which makes the weather feel even hotter than the actual temperature.
Having lived south of Orlando, in Boca Raton for seven years, there are usually thunder-storms in the late afternoon, simply because of the heat that builds up, but the rain tends to cool things down and also lowers the humidity, so an evening training session would make a lot of sense.
Orlando City are a third division side, and they are calling this week Newcastle week, as they are really looking forward to what their English coach, Adrian Heath, calls one of the best sides in the world.
I just couldn’t resist mentioning that, once again.
Alan Pardew may well decide to play a lot of the youngsters on Saturday evening.
